The UNSW Master of Engineering Science in Biomedical Engineering is a two-year full-time postgraduate degree offered by the School of Biomedical Engineering. You’ll gain the expertise to work in influential areas related to human health, like biomechanics, medical device design, drug-delivery systems, radiotherapies, telemedicine, robotics, and cell and tissue engineering.  

The Master of Engineering Science (Biomedical Engineering) is designed for graduate engineers. As part of a globally renowned engineering faculty, you’ll learn to apply your knowledge of engineering to drive solutions that support human health.  

The program is designed for students who already have an accredited engineering degree and want to shift their career towards biomedical engineering. You’ll choose up to four courses from relevant disciplines such as electrical, chemical and mechanical engineering, as well as two foundation courses in the subject area.

If you have a degree or extensive professional experience in a related area, you can apply for credit of up to half the program.

Applied Mathematics

• Your honours year is an integral part of the degree. It involves a supervised research project and advanced coursework. You’ll conduct original scientific investigations and analysis while developing your critical and integrative thinking.

• Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities
• At UNSW Science, we focus on delivering the optimal balance of theory and practical work to equip you with the skills and experience to fast-track your career. The SCIF3199 Science Work Placement course gives you the opportunity to gain practical work experience through an internship. Previous work placement students have interned with IT companies, start-ups, government departments and large biomedical and biotechnology companies. Along with new professional skills and connections, you’ll also gain course credit for your work placement.

• The SCIF2041 Research Internship course gives you the opportunity to complete a short theoretical or experimental research project in a world-leading research team supervised by a member of academic staff. The Master of Global Health and Master of Health Leadership and Management is a double degree providing the essential knowledge, skills and attributes to carry out senior managerial and leadership roles in population, clinical and departmental health services. It is designed for those keen to work internationally in health departments, with non-government organisations (NGOs), and with international and bilateral aid agencies. You will gain a deep understanding of topics such as health promotion, health care economics and financial management, epidemiology, workforce management and clinical governance, as well as having the opportunity to study tropical disease control, immunisation policy, infectious diseases intelligence or bioterrorism.

The AGSM Master of Business Administration (Executive), is a part-time national program designed for ambitious and experienced managers, executives, and professionals eager to take their career to the next level. The MBAE is a flexible program that lets you pursue a professional interest area in dynamic study modes including weekly, intensive, and online classes.
