Marketing

Through an in-depth understanding of the marketing field including the challenges of global forces, new technologies and changing customer demographics, students develop practical skills that contribute to improving organisational performance. The major is based on industry expectations and students work on industry-based projects and case studies equipping them to take on roles across numerous organisations including in digital marketing, campaign strategies, business and data analytics.

The marketing major shifts the focus from siloed factory-model approach found in typical marketing programs to one that is customer-centric, integrated, immersive and experiential. Unlike many other marketing majors, this new program embeds digital applications throughout.

This major satisfies the educational requirements for recognition as a Certified Practising Marketer and eligibility for student membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and The Research Society.

The Master of Planning degree has been designed to equip students with the professional and scholarly education to take a leadership role in statutory town planning practice as well as policy development.

The Western Sydney University Parramatta campus location in the centre of Sydney’s population growth area represents a rich urban laboratory in which to explore the most important urban issues.

The Master of Planning is a two-year program in urban and regional planning and is accredited by the Planning Institute of Australia. The program equips you with professional and scholarly education enabling you to take a leadership role in statutory town planning practice as well as policy development.

It has a strong emphasis on research rooted in social sciences and in the fast growing Western Sydney region. The program work includes learning and training in history and theory, governance, professional practice, economic development, sustainability, transport planning, spatial analysis and legal frameworks for planning

This degree shows how to apply your knowledge to solving real-world business problems. Gives you an in-depth understanding of accounting theory, principles and procedures. Teaches relevant aspects of the law, economics and finance to assist in your ability to provide quality information and solutions to business.

Emerge with the degrees you need to become a member of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), and Certified Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Our Design and Technology degree delivers a sound knowledge of design from both a theoretical and a practical standpoint.

This program can lead to multiple career outcomes, including product design, packaging, rapid prototyping, 3D modelling, exhibition design and secondary school teaching (with additional degrees). You will gain a comprehensive knowledge of all design areas, but also the flexibility to specialise.

Visualisations and Graphics

Study 2D and 3D visualisations and how to utilise them in a moden visual world.

Students will learn about the use of the computer programming in creative spaces. This is then applied in the study of the human-computer relationship

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program is designed for students with interests in learning to address humanity’s issues and challenges through the development and deployment of technical solutions.

This program spans all major engineering domains and prioritises industry relevance via an emphasis on work integrated learning to ensure students are career-ready on graduation. In addition to becoming technical experts in their chosen field of specialisation, students are also challenged to become collaborative and innovative problem solvers with an appreciation for the importance of sustainability and global citizenship.

Civil Engineering

Civil engineering covers the fields of structural design, geotechnical engineering and water engineering, together with infrastructure design and environmental engineering. Graduates may pursue career paths in the fields of design, construction and management of engineering structures and be associated with private industry, government departments, or in city, municipal or shire councils. These career paths may include engineering projects related to residential and commercial buildings, highways and airports, water supply and sewerage schemes.

Project management plays an important role in most, if not all, occupations. Be skilled and prepared to apply key project management concepts and practices across a variety of professions.

Our graduates are proficient in domain-specific customising of a project management life cycle and in developing comprehensive project plans involving cost and quality control, managing risks and stakeholders. You will also develop efficient schedules while being able to act as an effective communicator.

Since project management occurs in a team setting, our project managers are taught to master team leadership and to understand team dynamics and behaviour in different team settings.

The Master of Management is a study of contemporary management theory and practice in a global and Australian context. Our Graduate Diploma in Interpreting is suited to fluent bilinguals seeking high level skills necessary to practice as professional interpreters.

All practical components are informed by the theories of Interpreting, Translation, related disciplines and the results of current research.

Subject to demand, the languages available are Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish or Vietnamese.
