The Police Foundations Ontario College Diploma program provides you with a foundational knowledge of the field of law enforcement. Curriculum includes both theory and applied lessons in policing - helping you prepare for the employment in industry. This program offers instruction in:

While there is a strong theoretical aspect to this program, there are many opportunities for hands-on learning through in-class scenario situations and our fitness program. Outside the classroom, students are given opportunities for community volunteering and work integrated learning.

The program prepares you to apply for and be tested for employment in policing. As fitness is an important part of a career in law enforcement, you use an on-site fitness facility to prepare for physical fitness tests required by police departments. In addition to your work in our fitness facility, you establish and maintain your own exercise schedule .

The collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program helps you develop the skills to enter the field of nursing. This program prepares you to take on the role of Registered Nurse - offering quality care in the healthcare system.

In this program, you experience classroom, laboratory and clinical learning in a wide variety of settings. Key program outcomes include developing critical thinking and communication skills, as you become a professional nurse who solves problems as part of healthcare teams.

This is a four-year program offered in collaboration with the University of Ottawa. You experience both theoretical and applied courses that help you succeed. You may choose to study at either the University of Ottawa, Algonquin (Ottawa campus) or Algonquin (Pembroke campus).

Those studying at Algonquin College (Ottawa campus) take some of their courses in the first year at the University of Ottawa. Those studying at Algonquin College (Pembroke campus) take all of their classes in Pembroke.

Regardless of the location chosen, all successful students graduate with a BScN from the University of Ottawa. Graduates are eligible to write the NCLEX to become a Registered Nurse in Canada. As a graduate, you contribute to the development of nursing as an art and as a science. Following graduation, you may pursue graduate studies.

BScN graduates are in high demand and may work in hospitals, community health agencies, long-term care facilities, private practice and a variety of other settings across Canada and around the world.

The two-year Veterinary Technician Ontario College Diploma program prepares you to enter the profession by offering an authentic learning experience working alongside highly credentialed professionals in our on-campus veterinary medical facility and in our partnering facilities in the local community.

You benefit from learning in the 10,100 square-foot Veterinary Learning Centre and Clinic. This facility includes a reception area, exam rooms, husbandry area, surgical suite, dental suite, radiography room and more. This facility is similar to a real-life small animal clinic, enabling you to have an on-campus learning experience using the equipment you would also use in the field.

As a student, you have the unique opportunity to provide medical care to shelter animals, helping to prepare them for adoption. While in the program, you become a vital member of the veterinary health care team who develops and acquires valuable knowledge and skills that can then be applied to a variety of areas within the Veterinary Learning Centre and Clinic while working with these animals. This includes:

• Physical exams and patient care
• Preparing and administering medications
• Specimen collection and sample analysis
• Surgical assisting and anesthesia
• Producing diagnostic radiographs
• Providing nutritional support

It is accredited by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians; certified by the Canadian Council of Animal Care; and registered with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Graduates are eligible for consideration for registration by the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians and by the Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Science.

The one-year Marketing Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate prepares you to thrive in today`s marketing industry. Analyze consumer attitudes and behaviours in regards to products and services in our rapidly changing world. Through a creative, flexible and customer-focused approach, develop an understanding of both domestic and international marketing issues.

Among other topics, you develop a critical understanding of the competitive and customer-oriented demands of a business, its product and service operations and its marketing processes and resources. Acquire creative, procedural and critical marketing expertise to generate, implement and evaluate marketing programs that satisfy customer requirements.

This one-year Design foundation Ontario College Certificate allows you to develop fundamental design skills and to explore a range of design-related disciplines, in order to discover where your strengths and interests lie.

Throughout the program, you develop foundational knowledge and skills used in a variety of design elements such as:

• Typography
• Drawing and sketching
• Perspective
• Colour theory
• 3D structure
• Time management
• Web design
• Industry-standard software.

You explore your own aptitudes and interests through research and a speaker series of professionals, to help determine which area of design best suits you. Your work accumulates into a portfolio that represents your best design and artwork, which can be used to apply for future programs of study. An annual showcase provides an opportunity to exhibit your portfolio and interact with industry professionals, peers and the community.

The General Arts and Science Concept Art Foundations is a one year Ontario College Certificate with the graduates receiving a certificate in general Arts and Science-One year with a concentration in Concept Art Foundations and revolves around the students exploring a blend of traditional theory and digital image creation techniques to create concepts, characters and environments for the entertainment industry. 

The course is delivered via a mix of online video tutorials and classroom training in smaller groups to allow the students a chance of receiving the required hands-on training. The curriculum of the program makes sure that the students get the necessary individualized feedback and support in the production of a professional portfolio in concept art and digital imaging.
 

The program spans over a period of one year and is focused on those who wish to improve the current global situations via advanced knowledge and application of sustainable building strategies. During the course, the students enhance their understanding of building technology, construction and design from their prior experience/education.

The course curriculum includes courses in methods and materials designed to lessen the reliance on fossil fuels and harness the energy resources of water, wind and the sun and offer sustainable energy conservation improvements. The students are introduced to a variety of design technologies and strategies that make buildings healthier and livable for people, reduce environmental impact, manage material resources and conserve energy in an economical way. 

The graduates of the course can find jobs with design and construction firms, architectural, engineering, government agencies, Green building consultants and related disciplines.

The one-year Energy Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate prepares you for an exciting career in energy, innovation, entrepreneurship and the development of efficient new energy technologies.

Learn about energy solutions such as efficiency, conservation and sustainability. Participate in laboratory work, contribute to a real-world project and learn from case-studies in the energy management industry. Explore how to implement, manage, administer and work on energy management practices throughout the program. By analyzing data sets, evaluating the impact of energy efficiency and conservation programs and performing cost-benefit analyses, you obtain highly-regarded skills for the industry.

During your final semester, participate in an energy management project with peers and industry partners. Through in-class discussions and collaboration, you plan and create an energy strategy for a commercial building.

The one-year Teachers of English as a Second/Foreign Language Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed to give you a theoretical and hands-on foundation to help you develop proficiency in English as a Second/Foreign Language teaching methodology.

This program is officially recognized by TESL Ontario and TESL Canada and is available on campus or through synchronous online delivery.

Learn effective approaches to teaching, lesson planning, curriculum design and evaluation. Take courses such as:

Apply your theoretical knowledge to real-life teaching. Begin the program by completing an Independent Learning Project that requires you to work one-on-one with an assigned English as a Second Language (ESL) student and complete a learner profile for them. Then, gain further practical experience by taking part in two practicum placements. You even have the option to pursue an overseas teaching internship.

Upon completion of this program, you receive an official TESL certification that enables you to pursue ESL teaching opportunities in Canada and abroad.
