The program helps to develop skills in the areas of anatomy and physiology, rehabilitation practice, mental health concepts and techniques, occupational or physiotherapy skills, therapeutic exercise, function and movement specialized training, and human lifespan development.  By successfully undergoing the program understudies will be able to find employment in the sectors like hospitals, senior living centers, clinics, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and extended care facilities.

Prepare for frontline practice as a health professional in social and health agencies in this highly collaborative and experiential program. Specific topics include interviewing and counselling, crisis intervention, and recovery strategies. Main themes include trauma-informed practice and concurrent disorders. In-class training is followed by a 420-hour community placement. 

Train for a career in a growing field of study. This specialized program will train you to become a behaviour analyst, skilled in the theory and technique of behaviour analysis and modification. Graduates are qualified to work in a number of settings working with individuals or groups with mental health issues, autism or other developmental disabilities, or who are in need of crisis intervention.

Healthcare is a changing environment and nurses are needed to provide primary care where new trends in technology, pharmacology, nursing medical management are critical tools when working with clients presenting with acute complex pathologies. The Nursing Preparation Licensing Program (NLP) for Internationally Educated Nurses is designed to develop nursing expertise to work in the Ontario health care system. Emphasis is placed on the application and evaluation of advanced theories and practice in acute and chronic care settings within an interprofessional model of care as part of the health care team. Through classroom instruction, simulated labs and practicum placements, students will develop the necessary competencies to be eligible to practice in Ontario. Graduates of the program will be eligible to apply to write the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) jurisprudence and regulatory examinations to be accredited as a Registered Nurse within the Ontario’s Healthcare system.

Graduates of any Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Arts program can complete this hands-on, intensive program in one year.  Expand your knowledge and skill set working in real-world settings. A 210-hour field placement gives you a practical application for your training with the possibility of securing permanent employment. This program is designed in collaboration with Nipissing University’s Faculty of Education.
