Have you completed a two-year diploma? Have you dreamt about the possibility of owning and operating your own business or have thought about taking your career to the next level? If so, Small Business Management could be your next step. In completing the Small Business Management program, you will earn much more than an undergraduate degree. The program complements and enhances the technical expertise gained in your initial twoyear diploma program and positions you for careers in business management or ownership. With only an extra two years, students can build onto and transform their college diploma into a degree.

While studying at our Agricultural Campus in Truro, you gain insights into problem solving, diagnostics and whole-system analysis. You learn business and science in the context of social and environmental responsibility, using sustainable production systems. You acquire a theoretical knowledge of plants. 

The students learn by doing: through labs, experiments, and growth trials, they develop a practical skill-set through hands-on experiences.
You see first-hand how environmental factors affect plant growth. You'll propagate plants, glean from the soil what makes them grow, and discover how to control and improve that growth. You also learn how to grow a plant-dependent business and your education will set you apart from everyone else in the job market.

BENG IN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
Industrial Engineers optimize processes and systems by finding ways to save time, money, energy, and materials. Through mathematical models, Industrial Engineers design systems and methods that will help businesses meet their production goals. Whether it's streamlining the manufacturing processes of automobiles to make cars more affordable or optimizing the nursing staff at a hospital to improve patient care, career options span a range of industries.

Co-op options
Co-op students take the same academic program as the non co-op program; however, our co-op option gives you an opportunity to complement your studies with three paid work terms.

Ever wonder why volcanoes erupt? Or where the best diamond deposits are—and where new ones are going to be formed? Or maybe you're curious about why our climate is changing. The discipline of earth sciences play a crucial role in answering questions like these about today's complex world. Studying earth sciences gives you insights into the Earth's evolution, composition, processes, and future.

Field work is an important part of Dal’s Earth Sciences program. You'll explore the fascinating and diverse geology of Nova Scotia, or take part in an off-site computing camp. Taking Advanced Field School provides you with opportunities for in-depth study abroad, in countries such as Italy, Chile, or England. WHY STUDY KINESIOLOGY AT DAL?
Learn how the human body moves as a complex living system
Are you interested in physical activity, cardiac health and ergonomics? We’ve got you covered. Kinesiology is a multidisciplinary approach to the study of human movement and our program offers you a wide variety of classes taught by professors known for their research. Tailor your degree to your interests with the option to focus on a specific study stream — fitness and lifestyle, ergonomics, or coaching science — or pursue an all-around combination of classes.

What will I learn?
The courses you take will depend on your personal interests. You’ll gain a broad background in various subdisciplines of kinesiology, including anatomy, physiology, neurophysiology, biomechanics, movement control and psychology of performance. You’ll also be exposed to the foundational sciences such as biology, physics, psychology and mathematics.

In your upper years, you can choose whether you’d like to do a general degree in kinesiology or apply to one of the three focused streams: ergonomics, fitness and lifestyle or coaching science. If you’re accepted into one of the streams, you'll need to take certain courses to complete your degree.

Along with your course learning, you’ll also gain experience in research methodology and have the opportunity to complete an independent research project. The 25-hour practicum in your final year will allow you to enhance your studies and put learning into practice in a professional setting.

Neuroscience continues to emerge as an exciting, interdisciplinary area of research. It integrates psychology, cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, and other branches of the life sciences to provide comprehensive insights into the structure and function of the brain. Our neuroscientists work in both academic and clinical (i.e. hospital) settings, providing students with opportunities to participate in research projects in a range of specializations.

What will I learn?
When you study Neuroscience at Dalhousie, you’ll study different but related disciplines for an in-depth understanding of the structure and function of the brain and nervous system. You’ll have the opportunity to work in research labs and engage in studies that analyze the brain and its involvement in controlling behaviour.

In your first year of study, you'll take courses that will provide a firm grounding in the physical and biological sciences. In subsequent years, you’ll take more specialized courses in the fields of neuroscience, psychology and biology.

What will I learn?
Through the study of Music, students can develop expertise as listeners, performers and creators. You'll have the opportunity to take a wide range of courses from one-on-one studio instruction, to small seminars and large lectures. You can also study a wide range of instruments as well as voice.

Training in music teaches poise, discipline, creativity, collaboration and the ability to think on one’s feet. These skills are excellent preparation for many career paths in and beyond the performing arts.

Biology is the study of life and living things. You’ll examine the physical and biological processes that affect the life and death of genes, cells, individuals, populations, species, and ecosystems.

Depending on your interests and the courses you take, you might learn how to identify indigenous flowering plants, go scuba diving to conduct underwater experiments, or venture out on the ocean to study minke and humpback whales. You’ll look at the simplest forms of plants and animals—think algae and one-celled organisms—as well as the highly complex.

You’ll attend classroom lectures and have access to Dalhousie’s amazing research facilities. But you’ll also get out into the world and apply your classroom knowledge hands-on—whether you participate in the Science Co-op program and work in a research lab off campus, or travel to one of Nova Scotia’s beautiful coastal areas to collect samples from a tidal pool.

ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
A rapidly growing discipline within the engineering profession, environmental engineers develop solutions to environmental problems – from ensuring our drinking water is clean to remediation of environmental hazards. You'll learn various approaches to environment-based design, waste management, water and soil quality, energy conservation and renewables, and air quality.

WHY STUDY HEALTH PROMOTION AT DAL?
Learning for life in a tight-knit program
Health promotion is about encouraging the health and well-being of individuals and their communities. This program is unique in Canada, accepting only 40 students each year so we can develop a small, strong, well-rounded group of health promotion specialists. You'll work together in the program and in the community upon graduation.

What will I learn?
The Health Promotion program offers you the chance to take a variety of unique courses that will prepare you for a successful career. In first year you’ll take a broad range of introductory courses in the School of Health and Human Performance as well as from different departments including Computer Science, Statistics, Anatomy, Sociology, and Physiology.

After your first year you'll choose between entering the Community Health Promotion stream or the Research and Policy stream. In your final year you'll complete a 14-week internship; taking you out of the classroom and providing you with hands-on work experience.
