Students acquire the knowledge and skills required to perform in the administrative health field. Students learn document production, medical terminology, transcription, electronic health records, human anatomy, as well as courses in communication and social sciences. Students have the opportunity for hands-on learning.

Initially, students in all Office Administration streams enroll in a common first semester. Eligible students in this program are offered the opportunity for office experience within the health services community.

Students in this program prepare to assume positions as certified dental assistants, level II. Corresponding with the level of study and in accordance with current legislation, students of this program experience a variety of practical experiences including placements in the Georgian College Oral Health Clinic and in the community, involving all clinical roles, specialty practice, education, health promotion, business administration and treatment coordination. Students also learn to fabricate dental appliances and manipulate a variety of dental materials. To emphasize how dental assistants are vital members of the oral healthcare team, students explore the meaning of professionalism, and develop their own professional identity.

Students are provided with the knowledge, skills and experience to succeed within the sport industry. The fundamentals of business administration are introduced through courses in accounting, marketing, technology, research, and entrepreneurship. Operations in sport organizations are explored through curriculum in fundraising, sponsorship, program planning, leagues, tournament organizing and scheduling, fitness, outdoor recreation and facilities. In addition to the theoretical components of the program, practical experience is obtained through community leadership opportunities and field placements.

This program is intended for students who wish to develop a strong educational and experiential base in business. Students acquire skills in acquisitions analysis, market research, selling, networking, financial analysis and planning, various computer applications and systems, social entrepreneurship development, human resource planning and management. Students also develop skills to integrate the whole area of business principles and practices in order to successfully operate and manage a business.

This program is particularly appropriate for students whose goal is to enter a family business, start their own business, or enter employment in a small business. One of the key experiential outcomes is the research, development and presentation of a complete business plan for a new enterprise.

Graduates of this program will be prepared for exciting careers in the field of business. Students will develop the skills to research, analyze, and manage many aspects of business. Graduates will gain specialized career expertise, technical knowledge and skills, as well as practical experience that will enable them to start or further their specific career in business. Business skills obtained in this program will enhance graduate employability and the individual’s long-term opportunities for advancement.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) computing paradigm radically changes the functionality and capabilities of computer systems. This greatly increases the possibilities of what businesses can do with this exciting new technology and is causing disruption across all industry sectors. Artificial Intelligence systems can think, learn and take self-directed action in order to maximize the chance of successfully achieving a goal without having to be explicitly programmed or human intervention.

This program provides students with the necessary background to become Artificial Intelligence (AI) system designers, programmers, implementers, or machine learning analysts. With a strong focus on applied skills, students learn how to design and implement supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning solutions for a variety of situations and solve AI challenges for a diverse set of industries. 

Advanced study in AI infrastructure, architecture, machine learning frameworks, reinforcement learning, neural networks, vision system, conversational AI and deep learning help students understand how to select, configure and apply the right technology tools to build the correct AI solution to solve a given challenge.

Students acquire a solid foundation in art and design, and assess which area of the visual arts fits best with their individual proficiencies and interests. Effective research, problem-solving, and conceptualization skills are developed to prepare them for future studies in art and design. The breadth of hands-on studio art courses available provides an opportunity to learn new skills and techniques, while refining existing ones. Students develop a portfolio of their work, which will be valuable when applying to specialized art or design programs.

Students are provided with the theoretical and practical training to perform most basic welding techniques. At the completion of the program, students are eligible to test for welding tickets based on their level of expertise. It is expected that most of the graduates will be prepared to enter the workforce as a Welder following the successful completion of this program.

Students are exposed to topics including health and safety, blueprint reading and sketching, applied math, communication, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, introduction to computers, and all position pipe welding.

In this program, students focus on computer programming, web development and leveraging data to help organizations make meaningful business decisions. Throughout the program, students learn how to write code using a variety of languages such as Arduino, ASP.NET, C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, PHP, SQL and Swift. Students gain experience developing software for diverse platforms including embedded systems, desktop, mobile, and mainframe systems. In addition, students are exposed to advanced concepts including systems analysis, Business Intelligence (BI), application security, data structures, and game and simulation programming. With a strong emphasis on business and entrepreneurial values, students gain experience in problem solving, troubleshooting and systems building through a series of applied assignments, projects, and co-op work terms.

Marketing professionals drive organizational success for corporations and non-profits by translating customer desires into effective strategies. Students learn to assess market opportunities, segment target markets, and create strategies and tactics that help achieve organizational goals. Students build a solid business foundation and develop skills across the spectrum of marketing activity, from research, through strategy development and planning, sales, digital marketing and social media, and persuasive communication across media platforms. Through the busy student-run agency, students work on a wide range of projects they ultimately pitch to the clients for possible implementation.
