The future belongs to organizations with the human resource expertise that can lower labour costs, improve productivity, increase responsiveness to customers’ needs, and build employee commitment.

Graduates from the program will be ready to perform all human resources functions within the business environment.  Demonstrating the skills and competencies such as the ability to communicate effectively collaborate with others and displaying initiative and perseverance, graduates will possess the required knowledge, skills and abilities to be a key person within the organization. 

Work-integrated learning 
This program includes a co-op work term component where you will gain practical, on-the-job experience in your field.

In this program, students gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to become marketing professionals who can effectively manage a range of tasks and functions within business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C), not-for-profit, and government organizations. Using a broad range of analytical and creative approaches, students gain a wide understanding of marketing management fundamentals as they focus on concepts related to advertising, promotion, public relations, marketing research and data analytics, online/digital marketing, and international marketing management. As a result, students gain valuable insight into all aspects of marketing from an online, local, and international perspective.

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

• Formulate a marketing plan that will meet the needs or goals of a business or organization;
• Develop an integrated marketing communications plan for a product, concept, good and/or service based on an identified market need or target;
• Formulate strategies for developing new and/or modified products, concepts, goods and services that respond to evolving market needs;
• Develop strategies for the efficient and effective placement/distribution of products, concepts, goods and services that respond to evolving markets;
• Evaluate the impact of using different marketing strategies for a product, concept, good and/or service, on the finances, Return on Investment (ROI) and business goals of an organization;
• Evaluate the viability of a concept, product, good and/or service in a local, national or international market;
• Conduct market research to provide information needed to make marketing decisions;
• Communicate marketing information persuasively and accurately in oral, written, graphic and interactive media formats;
• Plan, prepare and deliver a sales presentation or pitch that addresses the needs of the client;
• Develop strategies with clients, customers, and consumers and others to grow and maintain relationships;
• Develop learning and development strategies and plans to enhance professional growth in the field;
• Apply entrepreneurial strategies to identify and respond to new career opportunities that might include contract employment and self-employment initiatives;
• Participate in and contribute to a framework of organizational policies and practices, when conducting business of the organization;
• Apply the principles of business ethics and corporate social responsibility to business decisions;
• Employ the management techniques of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of marketing functions and activities in response to the business needs of the organization.

This two-year program will give students a comprehensive education in the design theory and technical and aesthetic skills required by the jewellery and metals industry for entry level positions. The emphasis in Semesters 1 and 2 is on basic information and techniques as related to jewellery. Advanced jewellery techniques will be learned as well as hollowware and flatware in Semester 3 and 4. Note: Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for the post-graduate diploma program of GLDS Goldsmithing and Silversmithing.

Students train on the theoretical and practical skills required to obtain the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Gas Technician 3 (G.3) and Gas Technician 2 (G.2) certifications. Students study workplace safety, tools, characteristics of natural gas, codes/regulations, basic electricity, technical specifications, customer relations, basic piping systems, and an introduction to gas appliances. Further on, students study advanced piping/tubing systems, electricity, controls, systems, appliances, gas meters, pressure regulators, gas-fired refrigerators, conversion burners, water heaters, forced warm air heating systems, hydronic heating systems, space heating, venting practices, forced air add-on devices, and air handling.

Professionals in the healthcare field recognize that mental disorders, including addictive behaviours, play a prominent role in the many complex clinical presentations which all front-line clinicians face.  In this program, students are equipped with the appropriate clinical competencies to recognize and include mental health issues and build effective plans of care to ensure good clinical outcomes.  Students are exposed to a variety of intervention options such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectal behaviour therapy. Ultimately, students develop the skills necessary to effectively work with clients to deliver enhanced services with a focus on quality across a variety of settings.

In this program, students gain advanced skills in the use of environmental sampling, monitoring and testing equipment; data analysis; and information technology tools. They become familiar with applying the principles of ecosystem-based management for sustainability and develop the ability to manage environmental projects from planning through to implementation and maintenance. Through applied knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements, students contribute to risk assessment and environmental systems management. Students are provided an opportunity to apply their skills through partnerships in the community and stresses the need for designing and implementing systems to prevent, control and clean-up environmental contamination.

Students gain knowledge and hands-on experience to work in an adjunctive capacity as supportive personnel to qualified Speech-Language Pathologists and/or Audiologists in a variety of treatment settings. Students focus on conducting programming after the Speech-Language Pathologist or the Audiologist has completed the assessment and determined the therapy plan, as well as practicing the variety of other types of duties within this profession.

Based on a thorough understanding of physiological and functional speech/language and hearing disorders, students develop programming skills and learn intervention techniques to evoke and sustain communication behaviours. In addition, students identify the behaviour and environmental factors that can potentially support or erode the efficacy of therapy.

The philosophy and curriculum of this collaborative program incorporate and utilize the concepts of caring and human science as the basis of nursing practice. Students work collaboratively with peers and faculty to explore nursing knowledge and caring practice. 

In the classroom, student learning activities focus on the nursing care of individuals, families, groups and the global community. In the practice setting, under the guidance of a practicum mentor or preceptor, students integrate knowledge from program courses to provide holistic, client-centred nursing care. In order to provide quality practicum placements, students are placed in a variety of agencies in the region serviced by the campus. Students are required to provide their own transportation to practicum placements.

NOTE: Years 1 and 2 are offered at Georgian and years 3 and 4 are offered through York University.

The complexity of industry's labour and entrepreneurial needs requires managers who can work with in a variety of settings and in cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams. This program fills that need by providing project management training to candidates who require project management skills to ensure new ventures have potential for successful delivery. The program covers technical, leadership, business, and strategic management subjects with an emphasis on understanding and managing change as applied to project management.

This program gives students many project opportunities that develop the foundational knowledge and skills for the cabinetmaking industry. Many hands-on opportunities ensure that graduates are competent in all aspects of the industrial cabinetmaking/woodworking field, from the planning stages to the application of final finishes on various products.
