Students acquire a solid foundation in art and design, and assess which area of the visual arts fits best with their individual proficiencies and interests. Effective research, problem-solving, and conceptualization skills are developed to prepare them for future studies in art and design. The breadth of hands-on studio art courses available provides an opportunity to learn new skills and techniques, while refining existing ones. Students develop a portfolio of their work, which will be valuable when applying to specialized art or design programs.

This one-year post-graduate diploma program is directed towards students wishing to pursue goldsmithing or silversmithing as a self-directed career.

Students will refine their jewellery and metalworking skills, develop their design abilities and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to design, produce and market jewellery, flatware and hollowware. Students specialize in either goldsmithing or silversmithing. Within their area of specialization, students choose a number of advanced techniques to concentrate on, and develop the in-depth knowledge and skills that would allow them to work independently or as designers.

• Goldsmith - A goldsmith is one who would design, as well as produce, jewelry as an employee or in one's own studio.
• Silversmith - A silversmith is one who would design, as well as produce, hollowware and flatware items as an employee or in one's own studio.

Program Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

• Design, develop and produce a portfolio of personal work (jewellery and metalwork) and a skills inventory;
• Be adaptable in applying various technical skills and aesthetic development to a wide variety of jobs in the jewellery and fine metals field;
• Respond to style and marketing trends in the industry;
• Plan and execute marketing and sales strategies;
• Design and fabricate products that would produce sales and marketing opportunities in wholesale and/or retail venues, such as Kempenfest, Muskoka Arts & Crafts, galleries and custom work;
• Recognize and identify materials as to their suitability for gem materials;
• Cut and polish various shapes of cabochon and faceted stones;
• Use advanced gem cutting and polishing techniques, including channel inlay and carving, and incorporate finished products into jewellery and hollowware;
• Understand the history and tradition of vessels and other regalia used in various religious rituals and domestic occasions;
• Use technical skills and dexterity in a variety of advanced metal working techniques as listed in the course descriptions, including reactive metal techniques, lathe work and machining, knifemaking and toolmaking;
• Apply their skill to the production aspects of the industry;
• Seek employment with an existing manufacturing or embark on a self-employment career such as a production studio;
• Work in design, production and/or retailing within the industry;
• Employ environmentally sustainable practices within the profession.

Big Data allows users to visualize past, present, and future patterns by linking and presenting information in meaningful ways. Data Analytics offers deeper insight into the meaning of data sets by telling the story behind the information. This enables stakeholders to make more informed decisions, predict trends and better understand the needs and sentiments of customers. This program provides students with a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and applied skills. Students learn how to collect, curate, manipulate, encode, and store data sets so they can be analyzed and mined in such a way that they can be reused and repurposed to solve challenges that don't yet exist.

The philosophy and curriculum of this collaborative program incorporate and utilize the concepts of caring and human science as the basis of nursing practice. Students work collaboratively with peers and faculty to explore nursing knowledge and caring practice. 

In the classroom, student learning activities focus on the nursing care of individuals, families, groups and the global community. In the practice setting, under the guidance of a practicum mentor or preceptor, students integrate knowledge from program courses to provide holistic, client-centred nursing care. In order to provide quality practicum placements, students are placed in a variety of agencies in the region serviced by the campus. Students are required to provide their own transportation to practicum placements.

NOTE: Years 1 and 2 are offered at Georgian and years 3 and 4 are offered through York University.

Georgian''s three-year, Co-op, Business Administration program is as diverse as business itself. Required courses provide the student with the fundamental knowledge and skills for success in business and management. The broad range of choice in the third year provides the opportunity to tailor the diploma to unique career goals, including options in payroll, accounting, computers, advertising, marketing, logistics, human resource, entrepreneurship, international business management, leadership and the completion of external certification requirements.

In this program, students engage in interdisciplinary problem-solving, combining visual sensitivity with skill and knowledge in the areas of communications, technology, and business. Students learn to structure visual information to aid communication in both print and web-based formats, and employ these skills in the creation of advertising, editorial, branding, and information design.

This program is designed to prepare students for exciting employment opportunities in the $15 billion Canadian golf industry, both on the golf course and off. Theoretical concepts taught in the classroom are blended with practical learning opportunities gained through exposure to various golf facilities. At the golf course level, students examine the many aspects of golf operations such as agronomy, hospitality, retail and golf event planning. Away from the golf course, students have the opportunity to explore a variety of career paths at facilities that support the game. Students gain professional and managerial skills for industry and self-employment, as well as practical experience through participation in a work term and extensive field trips to golf courses and golf industry properties.

Work-integrated learning
This program includes a co-op work term component where you will gain practical, on-the-job experience in your field.

Marketing professionals drive organizational success for corporations and non-profits by translating customer desires into effective strategies. Students learn to assess market opportunities, segment target markets, and create strategies and tactics that help achieve organizational goals. Students build a solid business foundation and develop skills across the spectrum of marketing activity, from research, through strategy development and planning, sales, digital marketing and social media, and persuasive communication across media platforms. Through the busy student-run agency, students work on a wide range of projects they ultimately pitch to the clients for possible implementation. 

This Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) accredited program, offers students advanced courses in electrical power systems, robotics, programmable logic controllers, networking, instrumentation and project management. Students gain hands-on experience in associated lab classes using state of the art hardware and test equipment.  These courses, together with experience gained in three coop work terms with industry partners, provide students with a broad technical background and a wide range of employment opportunities in the electrical industry.

To respond to these demands in a way that is cost-effective and time-sensitive requires the skilled input of supply chain practitioners: professionals and leaders who can apply logistical planning strategies, troubleshoot problems, and provide support throughout the global and domestic trade networks. Within this program, students prepare for rewarding careers in supply chain management and logistics, as they develop specialized technical knowledge and skills through practical learning activities, simulations, and guest speakers. Students gain global supply chain competencies by examining the connections between strategic objectives, stakeholder expectations, and supply chain design, functions, processes, and roles.
