In manufacturing today, there is a continuous need for employees with highly developed skills in testing, processing, and quality assurance of materials. Encompassing many areas of science, including material science, chemical and material engineering and chemistry, and combining business management curriculum, the Lambton College Applied Manufacturing Management - Advanced Materials Processing, Ontario College Graduate Certificate program provides students with real-world experiences to learn and apply the knowledge and skills required to study the properties and behaviours of engineering polymeric materials used in a range of manufacturing applications in Ontario, Canada, and abroad.

In the program, students develop skills in applied material science and manufacturing. Additional courses include hands-on introductions to chemical analysis, material characterization, composites, nanocomposites and polymers. In addition, students learn the underlying theoretical principles in materials processing and additive manufacturing. Graduates are technically skilled problem-solvers with well-developed business, ethics, communication and analytical skills that can be applied to future careers in advanced manufacturing technology for a variety of industrial, government or consulting organizations.

The dynamic field of Human Resources is critical in today's competitive environment. Companies now recognize that strong management of their human resources provides a competitive advantage and leads to organizational success. This program is designed to provide university and college graduates with essential business skills and a strong foundation in Human Resources. Students also complete a four-month full-time work term gaining valuable work experience and insight into the Human Resources profession.

In the first term, students complete courses that provide them with the necessary knowledge of all the major business disciplines including marketing, accounting and technology. In subsequent terms, students complete all of the courses necessary to write the Comprehensive Knowledge Exam which is required to obtain the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation (http://www.hrpa.ca) at an additional fee.

The program provides students with exposure to all areas of the Human Resources field. Students benefit from small class sizes, hands-on active learning and faculty with diverse experience in all facets of Human Resources. Partnership with the local chapter of the Human Resources Professional Association gives students an opportunity to develop their networking skills and learn about working in the profession.

The Lambton College Interprofessional Practice - Gerontology, Ontario College Graduate Certificate focuses on preparing graduates to work interprofessionally to enhance their professional practice to care for aging adults and families who require complex and/or long-term care within institutions or in the home in Canada. In the program, students develop skills in collaborative patient-centred care and inclusive practice.

Program curriculum includes comprehensive patient assessment and team approaches to client and family centric care planning and delivery. Students also study various age-related changes in social, psychological and biological functions to evaluate the implications of these changes on individuals' ability to interact with their social and physical environments and on individuals' care needs.

As a culmination of program learning, students participate in both an interprofessional field placement within a community organization as well as a community project, which includes the completion of an associated capstone project research paper. Program curriculum along with real world experiences prepares graduates for employment in a range of Canadian work settings including senior centres, day and leisure programs, research and education services, retirement homes, long term care homes, group homes and home support services.

Looking for a program that leads to a rewarding career in accounting, that challenges students to develop valuable critical thinking and analytical skills, and has an option for a simple pathway to a university degree – then the three-year Business Administration – Accounting program is definitely the right fit for you! This program can lead to various pathways to professional accounting credentials that can be beneficial to career development and advancement. Graduates of this program pursue careers as managerial accountants, financial analysts, tax professional, auditors and small business controllers.

Students in this program receive a well-rounded and thorough education in important aspects of business such as human resources, law and marketing in addition to the comprehensive accounting courses taught by Lambton's accounting faculty who bring a wealth of industry experience and all hold the Chartered Professional Accountants designation. There is a focus on developing strong communication, planning, teamwork, and analytical skills while studying accounting theory and practice, financial statement analysis, cost management and control, taxation, and computerized accounting systems.

Experiential Learning Opportunities 
Because practical work experiences are vital, students are given the option to participate in a co-op work experience in term 5. This provides exposure to a business environment and valuable work experience in the accounting field. In the final year of the program students utilize all their knowledge, skills, and abilities gained over the duration of their program in the Entrepreneurship capstone courses. Through a series of culminating reports and presentations, students showcase their knowledge, skills and abilities to corporate partners who provide feedback and enhance this experiential learning opportunity.

The Office Administration - Health Services diploma program at Lambton College is ideal for those students interested in providing support in a health and wellness care setting outside of the direct patient-care specialty. This two-year program prepares graduates to assist in medical and health-related offices. The positions may include assisting medical practitioners and wellness professionals to keep the office operating effectively or supporting the many offices or departments of hospitals or health care facilities. Employers need health care administrative professionals with exceptional medical office and advanced-level technological skills, including skills in transcription of a wide range of medical data, the ability to provide excellent customer service and the organizational expertise and discretion to keep the office running smoothly. One of the key components associated with a high level of workplace productivity and efficiency is Office Administration.

The final two terms focus on health services office administration with a concentration on medical terminology and its construction as well as a detailed background in anatomy and physiology. Students will be familiar with procedures required to operate a medical office including fundamentals of pharmacology, expert medical keyboarding, as well as OHIP billing and electronic records management. With a wide variety of hands-on practical experience built into the program, graduates of the Office Administration - Health Services program are fully trained to meet the demands of today's health care and wellness setting. Students embrace an active-learning environment including an optional internship in the fourth term providing up to 180 hours of practical health care office and wellness experience. Health Services students are strongly encouraged to register for the CPL-1003: Internship. Students are also provided opportunities to grow their co-curricular record.

In the 2019 Key Performance Indicators (KPI) survey, 100% of the students were satisfied or very satisfied that this program provided them with the knowledge and skills that were useful for their future career. Likewise, 100% of students were satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of the program and their learning experiences and 100% of the students were satisfied or very satisfied that the program developed their computer skills.

The Lambton College Canadian Culinary Operations, Ontario College Graduate Certificate is a two-year program that introduces students to the traditional as well as the unique practices of Canadian-inspired culinary dishes. Students experience all facets of the Canadian food industry where trends and dining culture are constantly evolving.

Program curriculum reflects the demanding knowledge and skills required of a successful culinary professional who must constantly adapt to all Canadian industry standards regardless of the enterprise. Faculty are committed to sharing with students the importance of sustainable practices as it applies to purchasing and preparing local foods in various Canadian environments. Specific courses on applied nutrition, geographical gastronomy and the science of food and beverage reflect changing consumer tastes.

The program emphasizes the importance of operating a fiscally responsible food business through the application of business principles and costing and control practices. Technology and mobile applications are integrated into business operations with emphasis on the development of marketing and promotional strategies. Students work in accordance with relevant industry, organization and legal standards and regulations, as well as Canadian industry best practices for health, safety, sanitation, quality assurance and customer service.

The professional focus and high standards of the Canadian Culinary Operations program serves graduates well when it comes time to begin their careers. Program graduates may perform effectively as members of food and beverage service teams in Canadian establishments. They are prepared for employment opportunities in a range of settings including: restaurants, bakeries, hotels, spas, motels, resorts, cruise ships, hospitals, industrial kitchens, long-term care institutions, and catering companies. Securing a Co-op Placement
The job market for co-op is very competitive and students are expected to be active participants in their job searches, this includes demonstrated activity on the myCareer System.
Lambton College cannot guarantee co-op positions for students. Success in finding a co-op involves a number of factors that are not controlled by Lambton College.
Limited assistance is provided to students in finding co-op placements. Students will also be expected to canvass employers to find their own placements. Completing a co-op work term is mandatory for graduation.
Any student who secures his or her own co-op position must verify with the Co-op & Career Advisor assigned to the program that the proposed co-op is appropriate and will be approved before accepting the position.

This program is a true pathway program. Liberal Studies is designed for those who wish to pursue a university education or degree completion. Following completion of the program, and provided that all requirements are met, students will have the opportunity to apply for entry into a university degree.

This program is rooted in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines. An emphasis on developing university-level skills in critical thinking, communication, research, literacy and numeracy prepares students for professional environments which impact society, business and technology.

Graduates of the Liberal Studies program may receive transfer credits toward degrees at Ontario universities. Graduates of this program may apply to Huron, Brescia, King's or Western University for acceptance into the second year of a specified Bachelor's program.

This accelerated program is designed to meet industry's future requirements for a skilled workforce. It provides the opportunity for a graduate with an Engineering Technology Degree, Engineering Degree, or Science Degree in Physics or Chemistry, to earn an advanced technical diploma in instrumentation and control within a shorter time frame than those registered in the Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technology program. The accelerated program is delivered in seven terms including three recommended co-op terms. The standard three-year Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technology program includes three co-op terms delivered in nine terms.

The program provides the theory and technical hands-on knowledge to operate, maintain and troubleshoot various control systems. These computer control systems can be used to control countless processes. Instrumentation devices (i.e. transmitters and switches) are used to measure process variables (e.g. composition, temperature, pressure, level, density, mass, flow) in a variety of industrial, commercial and residential applications. Final control elements (i.e. valves, dampers, heaters, electric motors, conveyors) are then used to modify the process to maintain control.

Students enrolled in this program will train in Lambton College’s newly renovated Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies. The Centre offers state-of-practice technology laboratories and infrastructure to support learning and research in next-generation technologies in collaboration with industry.The program labs replicate real-life manufacturing environments and the technologies developed can easily be scaled-up and transferred to an actual operating unit. Moreover, students in this program will have the opportunity to work in relevant industries within the three co-op terms.

Securing a Co-op
The job market for co-op is very competitive.  Students who have met the co-op eligibility are highly encouraged to actively participate in the recruitment process in the semester prior to their co-op work term. This includes, but is not limited to, attending all recruitment workshops, meeting with your program co-op advisor, regularly searching through the MyCareer Job Posting System and other job posting sites, networking; and contacting potential employers. The MyCareer Centre actively pursues employers, however there may be limited availabilities so students should seek out additional employers to secure their own co-op.

If a co-op position is not secured prior to the start of a co-op semester, students should meet with their program co-op advisor to discuss next steps.  Any student who secures their own position must contact their program co-op advisor prior to the start of employment to determine if this position is considered acceptable as a co-op and to complete the appropriate paperwork to register the co-op.  This is necessary in order for either the insurance to be put in place or for the employer to get a tax credit letter. Students enrolled in a co-operative education program pay a mandatory fee to cover the costs of employer relations development, job development, job-readiness preparation and co-op service administration. Payment of fees does not secure a co-op position.

With an ever increasing need for agricultural business employment, the Lambton College Agri-Business Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed for students who wish to enter a career in the agricultural sector at the supervisory level, or to manage relationships in an agri-business environment typical of a sales or other agricultural services role.

In this multi-disciplined program, students utilize existing related education or experience to learn and apply a variety of skills to help operate and manage an agricultural business. Students develop a foundation of business skills, including communications, accounting, human resources, relationship managing and marketing strategies that apply to the Canadian agricultural industry of today. With the rapid adoption of agricultural technology, students study the impact of this technology on farm operations, as well as on other applications, from software to farm machinery.

To round out the learning, students study environmental farm management to gain a deeper understanding of the production of food, feed, and fuel as well as livestock physiology and health, pest control management and new and emerging agri-business technology. This hands-on program will include a real-world course on farm machinery to provide a robust understanding on farm equipment operations and safety.
