Heavy industry types all have a millwright on speed dial. If you’re ready to answer the call, our Industrial Mechanic program is for you. We introduce you to metal processing, basic welding and cutting, sheet metal work, machine shop practices, maintenance and troubleshooting. You will progress from simple hand and machine processes to more exacting operations such as machining, fitting and reassembly. The trade theory and practical work of this program are supported by instruction in trade-related mathematics, physics, communications, blueprint reading, shop safety and basic metallurgy.

Plumbers see each water distribution and drainage system as an interesting challenge. They use hand and power tools to fix plumbing fixtures and install water systems. You’ll learn about hot water facilities and sewage systems, as well as how to assemble, install and repair pipes, fixtures and fittings. After learning how to interpret basic blueprints, you’ll have the necessary skills to layout a complete plumbing system according to specific building codes. Employment in plumbing is stable in every economic market and competent plumbers find work fast.

Our Justice Studies: Corrections program is designed to provide students the knowledge and skills required for individuals aspiring to a career as a Correctional Officer or other related fields of criminal justice. Everything we teach meets current industry standards, and our students are trained in areas of intervention, prevention, rehabilitative strategies and reintegration, preparing you to work in a diverse variety of institutional and community settings.

If you choose to continue your education in criminology or other related fields, your NBCC diploma is a great foundation. Graduates can, for example, apply their respective two-year NBCC diploma to be credited for up to two years of a four-year university degree making a seamless transition from college to university. The Human Service Practitioner program prepares learners for a career in the field of human services.  Graduates will work alongside individuals, their families and their communities, playing an active role in assisting them to meet their needs and increase participation in society. The program focuses on assisting vulnerable individuals with complex needs who are experiencing challenges in daily life.
Learners will acquire knowledge and skills in strength-based individualized and group programming, communication, human development, exceptionalities, counselling strategies, ethical conduct, crisis response and behavioural change. This knowledge will be integral to assisting individuals to develop and keep valued social roles.
 
Within this diploma program, learners also participate in experiential and applied learning opportunities that will allow for the integration of theory and application of concepts.

Human Services workers specialize in community enrichment. They work in diverse settings to improve the success, safety, and health of people with a variety of challenges. You’ll learn about human development, communications, social roles, lifestyle planning, psychology, family support, and program planning. Rewarding work awaits human services workers.

The Steamfitter/Pipefitter trade is unique because it's the only one that specializes in the planning, design, and installation of low and high pressure steam systems and installation methods for each. They build, maintain and repair piping systems that carry just about anything that can be transported through a pipe: water, steam, fluids, gasses, chemicals, fuels, woodchips, etc.

This program will give you entry-level knowledge and practical experience required to pursue a career as a steamfitter/ pipefitter. You'll learn to assemble, install, maintain and repair pipes carrying water, steam chemicals and fuel in heating, cooling, lubricating and other process piping systems. Hoisting, lifting and rigging are also part of the curriculum. Trade theory and practical experience is supported by courses in communications and mathematics. Workplace safety is emphasized.

Welders use electric arc and oxy-fuel to heat and meld metal. The forms created by welders benefit a wide range of industries, including: aerospace, automotive, construction, and manufacturing. You’ll learn a technical understanding of arc welding, welding safety, power sources, and electrode classifications and selection. Welding is a skilled trade that has been perfected throughout history. Knowledgeable welders remain integral to factory and building teams.

Process Control Technicians are smooth operators. They analyze, adjust, and optimize process units and equipment in industrial facilities to ensure successful outcomes. You’ll learn specific skills in thermodynamics, applied chemistry, instrumentation and controls, and electrical devices, as well as general knowledge related to process control operations in plant settings. Our work practicum provides you with hands-on learning and counts toward trade requirements. Canada’s energy sector growth means that Process Control Technicians are in high demand.

Power Engineering Technicians are energy experts. They plan and solve problems in mills, power plants, oil production and many other industries. You'll learn how to design, produce and install power equipment and systems, and how to operate boilers, electrical generators and plant auxiliaries. We offer work experiences to practice your engineering, thermodynamic, applied mechanics, and electro-technology skills. Specialized knowledge in power engineering offers many possible career settings, including: hospitals, breweries, oil sands, and hotels.

Working with steel can help you build a meaningful career in a number of settings. Steel fabrication includes assembling, fitting and installing steel or other metal components for buildings, bridges, boilers, pressure vessels and similar structures and products. You'll learn how to cut, form, bend, assemble, erect and weld metals. With training in steel fabrication, you'll make a great addition to any fabrication team specializing in your area of interest.
