The Broadcast Systems Technology (BXST) program is a unique program and prepares you for employment installing and maintaining electronic and computer based equipment for the Broadcast industry. You will discover how to maintain and repair broadcast equipment as the electrical signal flows from the source through the audio and video mixing consoles to the station’s link to the transmitter and then to your home. You may also be involved in the design of facilities. You will also acquire professional and business skills and learn comprehensive technical applications that will help you achieve a great career in the broadcast industry.

During this full-time two year program, you will be trained in all aspects of the culinary trade including foundational cooking techniques, Garde manger, culinary perspectives and patisserie. Professional paid internship and study tours

• Between your first and second year of study, you will get to apply your skills in the industry through a professional paid internship. In addition to learning in a real-world environment, internships provide valuable connections and opportunities to network with future employers.
• As a student, you can also take advantage of exciting international study tours. Previous tour locations have included Australia, France, Spain, Italy, Chile and Thailand.

Global recognition through chef competitions

• SAIT’s Professional Cooking program will give you the skills for a global career path and opportunities to work in the world’s finest dining establishments. You also have the option to compete in skills and culinary competitions - both locally and internationally.
• Our students have won gold and silver in Provincial and National Skills in addition to the Canadian Chef Association competitions. Our students have also competed in Hong Kong and Singapore over the last several years placing in the top three.

You start with a common first year to build core business skills. In year two, you become proficient in your choice of major: Accounting, Financial Services, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing or Supply Chain Management.

You begin the program with a small business simulation. Then you progress to your final capstone course - a global simulation of an international enterprise where you make all decisions from manufacturing and production to hiring your workforce, determining pricing and promotional strategy and more.

Marketing
Explore marketing fundamentals and apply the latest trends in brand management, strategic marketing, research and planning. You graduate ready for a career in public relations, media, advertising, sales, promotions, events and more. You can pursue a Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA) designation

Safely run processing equipment at oil and gas and natural gas processing facilities with training that covers basic plant operations, safety and thermodynamics. Graduates are ready to write the Alberta Boiler Safety Association Fourth-Class certification exam.

Power and Process Operations is an one-year program that trains students for careers as operators, responsible for the daily safe running of processing equipment at oil and gas facilities.

Accreditation

• This program is integrated with the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) Certification System. Graduates are eligible for membership in the following professional associations:

Learn to perform surveys, create maps and develop geographic information systems by using global navigation satellite systems (GPS), laser scanning, remote sensing and photogrammetry in preparation for a career as a surveyor, junior party chief, survey assistant or mapping technologist.

Geomatics technologists work in government, construction, mining, energy exploration, and environmental sectors. The Geomatics Engineering Technology program will provide you with extensive practical skills combined with a broad theoretical background to acquire tools and techniques used in: land surveying, remote sensing, cartography, geographic information systems (GIS), global navigation satellite systems (GPS), photogrammetry, geography and digital mapping.

To succeed in the program, you will need to be comfortable with mathematics and enjoy working with computers and instrumentation. In addition you must be a good team player, have good communication skills, and enjoy working outdoors.

Accounting: Understand the strategic role of accounting in measuring financial performance. Gain advanced knowledge in core accounting topics and quantitative skills. You’ll graduate with the courses you need to enter the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program and earn your designation.

Be at the forefront of eye care practice, working as part of a multi-disciplinary vision care team. Students will study ocular pathology, refracting and pharmacology, as well as business and retail aspects of the profession.

The Optician program is two years in length and trains students to be at the forefront of eye care practice, working as part of a multi-disciplinary vision care team. Students will study ocular pathology, refracting and pharmacology, as well as business and retail aspects of the profession. Application of the theory will be demonstrated through clinical competencies focusing on refraction, filling eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions, ensuring a proper fit, and determining clients’ eyewear needs.

Human Resource (HR) Management: graduate ready to add strategic value to organizations in recruitment, compensation, employee training and development, change management and navigating diversity. In this Human Resources Institute of Alberta (HRIA)-accredited program, you are exempt from writing the national exam for your Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.

The reuse of treated wastewater has become a sustainable option for minimizing water scarcity problems. Learn the skills needed for a rewarding career in municipal and industrial water/wastewater systems.

Graduates will develop a working knowledge and skills related to treatment technologies and water/wastewater systems operations including related laboratory analytics. Through in-class learning and recognized work experience they will be prepared to write industry required certification exams including the 4th class power engineering and water/wastewater treatment.

Graduates of the program will possess the following proficiencies:

• Perform water analysis tasks to support plant water quality targets
• Analyze current and past data to support plant performance decisions
• Apply knowledge of water/wastewater system processes including pressure vessels and power generating equipment to achieve performance requirements
• Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks
• Apply fundamental knowledge of chemistry and biology to maintain process performance
• Operate according to all applicable regulatory guidelines
• Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve optimum process performance
• Control water/wastewater collection and distribution systems
• Run high-pressure boiler and steam systems

Your formula for success starts here. In the Chemical Engineering Technology program, you’ll study engineering design calculations, chemical process unit operations, process simulation and control, safety and environmental engineering. 

In this program, you’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of unit operation, process control and equipment design while you learn to operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and design safe processing units and plants. In addition, our industry-trained instructors will teach you design calculations, process simulation and control, industry safety and environmental engineering. You will also learn to work with engineering software that will give you an edge to jump-start your career.
