Develop marketable expertise in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment, distribution, re-use and disposal facilities and in monitoring source water quality. This state-of-the art program encompasses chemistry, microbiology, mathematics, mechanical and electrical systems, instrumentation and treatment technologies as they are applied in the increasingly vital water industry.

Developed with police and other justice agencies, this two-year program will prepare you for the challenges of a career in policing, as well as in corrections, parole, customs, and other government services at the federal, provincial or municipal levels. Your diploma credits count towards completion of an arts, business or criminology degree.

Develop a strong understanding of the fundamental concepts in analytical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. Emphasis is placed on practical, hands-on experience on modern scientific instrumentation and students are often involved in research and outreach activities.

Psychology is the scientific study of thoughts, feelings, actions, perceptions, physiological and neurological responses, and other behaviours in animals and humans. As both a scientific discipline and a profession, psychology relates to virtually every aspect of people's lives. Through research, psychology plays an integral role in understanding and predicting human behaviour. Through clinical practice, psychology strives to help people live more productive and fulfilling lives.

The Department of Psychology offers a variety of courses and the option of obtaining a (Major, Minor or Honours) in psychology as part of the Bachelor of Arts degree.

The environment is a complex of biological, geological, physical, chemical, social and cultural factors that interact to influence the life of an individual or community. Our environment is threatened by global issues, such as overpopulation, climate change and habitat fragmentation. Many of these are issues caused by humans, and in turn they are threatening the well being of humans. The problems we face today are not solvable by science alone, but by an equal discovery and knowledge of culture, sociology, economics, politics and ethics.

Thompson Rivers University is ideally located to study environmental issues because of its proximity to a wide variety of diverse regional ecosystems. Kamloops is a city of about 90,000 people centred in the southern interior of British Columbia. The Thompson/Okanagan region and neighbouring Cariboo Plateau provide rare native grassland ecosystems, freshwater wetlands, lakes and rivers, and a rich diversity of forested ecosystems, all within easy access of TRU, as well as mountain and ocean ecosystems within a few hours' drive. The TRU MSc in environmental sciences program fills local, regional, provincial, national and international needs for environmental professionals. The program is designed to produce graduates who are innovative and have multi-disciplinary skills and broad knowledge in the field of environmental science. It is structured to be unique, flexible and relevant.

A post-baccalaureate diploma or certificate is designed for those who already have an undergraduate degree. It is not a master’s degree, but it is more advanced than a traditional degree. Essentially, a post-bac is an alternative to a second degree. One advantage is that it takes less time to complete than a second degree.

The post-bacs in tourism are intended for those who are seeking to complement their undergraduate studies with an additional specialization, for career advancement, for a career change, for professional development or in the pursuit of life-long learning.

Highlights

Students will gain a foundation of basic knowledge and skills for working in the general field of tourism, as well as developing more specialized knowledge and skills relevant to event and festival planning and management. In the first year of the program, they will gain an overview of the industry; demonstrate understanding of issues fundamental in tourism planning, marketing, and service provision; and gain an awareness of central issues related to tourism’s engagement with culture and the natural environment, as well as exploring the experiential dimensions of this phenomenon. In the second, specialized year, they will master research skills; gain competencies relevant for creating, designing, operating, and evaluating events and festivals; and develop an understanding of the place of festivals and events within the larger tourism field and within contemporary culture.

Power up your future as a software engineer today. Through our program, you will learn to apply engineering principles to computer software. You will gain technical knowledge and skills in how to design, develop, maintain, test and evaluate software. As you move through the program, your courses will include areas such as engineering, business, computing science and project management.

Software engineer grads do more than program. They bring creative solutions to manufacturing, transportation, health care, government and digital media. These sectors rely on computer tools and applications, which our grads manage.

Software engineering is the study of how software is built and maintained and includes project management and testing. Our students like the program’s practical, hands-on approach.

Co-op program:-
Co-operative education is a requirement of the degree. During your Co-op experience you will receive paid and relevant work experience, allowing you to apply theory learned in the classroom, explore interests related to the field of study and advance skills as a professional while strengthening your resumé. In the fourth year of study, students are required to complete two mandatory co-op work terms.

Our program is designed to meet the criteria of the Engineers Canada Accreditation Board. Graduates will meet all of the educational requirements for registration as a professional engineer through APEGBC. Up to 12 months of co-op work may count towards the work experience required for professional designation.

Get the first-year knowledge you need for all engineering disciplines while developing hands-on practical skills for Foundation and Level 2 electrical instrumentation apprenticeship. Graduates can pursue second-year engineering at the University of Victoria, a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Technology Leadership, or a Bachelor of Technology.

Acquire a foundation in tourism studies including tourism experience marketing, environmental issues, community and cultural issues, applied research methods, and product development and innovation. Explore tourism experience management topics such as understanding and influencing tourist behaviour, business strategy, small business management, information technology, and managing service operations in a global setting. Gain valuable field experience with a two-semester consulting assignment in tourism-related organization.
