Students can complete the pre-dentistry requirements for the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan at the University of Regina. Students are eligible to apply to the College of Dentistry after two academic years each consisting of two standard academic terms of eight consecutive months (September to April). Specific courses are required. All applicants must take the Dental Aptitude Test administered by the Canadian Dental Association. Pre-dentistry courses completed at the University of Regina can be used toward a variety of programs at the University of Regina.

Visual arts covers a broad range of two- and three-dimensional media such as sculpture, painting, ceramics and printmaking, among others. You will work alongside professors and instructors who themselves are curators, artists, researchers and critics and are active in the Canadian art community and beyond.

Showcase your work at the Fifth Parallel Gallery on campus or at Regina's renowned Mackenzie Art Gallery. Advance your skill, with professors and fellow students acting as mentors and study the theory and history of your medium and the greats who came before.

The Master of Arts (MA) in Media Studies is a 30 credit hour program designed for advanced studies in cinema and media history, theory, and methods, emphasizing current concepts, issues, and trends. Avenues of exploration could include national and transnational cinemas, directors, genres, or other contemporary approaches (feminist, post-colonial, indigenous) across the full range of media such as dramatic, documentary, animation and experimental cinema; broadcast media; new media and interactive media. The program aims to develop broad expertise and critical thinking while enabling students to focus their interests through core courses in theory and methods, seminars, and specialized directed readings.

Electronic Systems Engineering conducts research and offers graduate courses in selected areas of microelectronics, signal processing, instrumentation and communications. The Master of Engineering degree program with a project report attracts practicing engineers. It complements the Graduate Cooperative Education Program which seeks to integrate the academic experience with professional, on-the-job experience to facilitate professional development.

The Department of Music’s MMus and MA degrees can lead to career opportunities in performance, education, library science, music publishing, media, and arts administration, among others. It also provides exciting potential for further studies at the doctoral level. Our programs promote study in areas as traditional or contemporary as you are, with individualized instruction, and excellent performance and rehearsal facilities. There is also ample opportunity to explore interdisciplinary studies with the other Media, Art, and Performance areas.

Master of Music (MMus) in Performance - (Orchestral Instruments)
This 30 credit hour program offers advanced studies in the above areas of specialization, as well as directed studies in the repertoire of the student’s instrument. Students study solo repertoire, participate in chamber ensembles, and undertake leadership roles in the ensemble most relevant to them (orchestra, concert band, wind ensemble, concert choir, or chamber choir). This program includes the performance of two full-length recitals. All students also take graduate courses in critical theory in the fine arts, and in research techniques specific to music. Graduate students in Performance participate in workshops with internationally renowned guest artists and are encouraged to perform in competitions at the national and international levels.

This course will begin to map the terrain that is Pop Culture. The changing ground of pop culture has been mapped by different theoretical and methodological approaches in ways that are not historically fixed. This course provides an introduction to the theories, practices and evolving legacy of pop culture.

Increasingly, humans are inhabiting areas of both natural and human-made geological hazards. In order to prepare for and manage potential hazards, we need to know more about the natural geological processes that affect them. New generations will need to know more about the earth to make the best decisions for humans’ well-being.

Geology emphasizes solid earth science and applications in mineral and oil and gas resources. It can be divided into two areas of concentrations:

• Mineral exploration
• Oil and gas exploration

Our program has a well-rounded curriculum that promotes a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the earth sciences across all sub-disciplines, combined with extensive hands-on training, field-oriented class exercises, regular use of the Saskatchewan Geological Survey’s subsurface core repository, and two intensive field school courses. Our programs have an established reputation for training highly qualified graduates.

The Department of Biology has expertise in ecology and evolution, cell and molecular biology and organismal physiology/biochemistry. Our field station is located in the picturesque Cypress Hills of southwestern Saskatchewan, and is used for both field-based research and for upper-level courses. We are also home to the Environmental Quality Analysis Laboratory (EQAL), which houses stable isotope ratio mass spectrometers and other equipment for the analysis of varied environmental parameters. As well, the Department of Biology has modern facilities for molecular biology and related disciplines, is home to the George Ledingham Herbarium and to a modern aquatics facility for housing a variety of aquatic vertebrates. Our faculty and students conduct research in a wide variety of locations across Canada and elsewhere, and have national and international collaborations. The Biology Department also has close connections and collaborations with the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and with various local, provincial, and national agencies.

What Is Sport and Recreation Management?
Sport and recreation management is the field of business that focuses directly on sports and recreation, including the activities that facilitate it. You will also learn about the motivations, constraints, and facilitation of people's participation in sport and recreation.

In both the sport and recreation studies bachelor’s degree, and the joint sport and recreation studies internship/business administration program, you will learn why sport, recreation, and leisure activities are important to a healthy, active and balanced lifestyle. You will also learn about the management and business side of sport and recreation.

Some unique classes in the U of Regina sport and recreation management programs include:

• Venue and Event Management – focuses on assessing events and facilities for management best practices and social responsibility.
• Live Event Production and Sport Communication – a practicum-based course that gives you hands-on experience producing live sporting events and sport information management. Learn live media development and production and how to create content for social media outlets and webcasts.
• Data Analytics in Sport – teaches you the skills to manage and analyze datasets in high-performance sport, and provide data-based insight to coaches, players and other participants.
• Volunteer Management – provides you with skills related to managing volunteers and finance in the sport and recreation sector and beyond.

This 30 credit hour program is designed for advanced studies in music theory. The first 15 credit hours are devoted to honing students’ critical writing and thinking skills, through courses in bibliography and research techniques specific to music, specialized music theory seminars, and directed reading courses in the area of the student’s research interests. All students also take graduate courses in critical theory in the fine arts. The remainder of the program is devoted to writing a thesis on an original topic chosen by students in consultation with their supervisor. Current areas of faculty expertise are broad and include tonal and post-tonal analysis, music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, opera of the 18th and 19th centuries, music in Canada, the Lied, contemporary classical music, and interdisciplinary topics such as soundscapes and sound art.
