Agronomy is a science that finds ways to grow crops more efficiently and profitably while protecting the environment. Agronomy affects us all through the food we eat, the coffee we drink, the ethanol-based gas we use to power our vehicles and the natural fibers in the clothing we wear.

What you will learn
You will examine ways use natural resources efficiently, sustainably and profitably to produce food, feed, fibre and fuel. You will take courses from several disciplines and learn to approach agronomic issues from several different perspectives. You will acquire an understanding of the biological, ecological and economic principles of crop production and soil management, as well as an appreciation of the short and long term effects of agricultural production on the environment.

Planners balance science, aesthetics and community interests in the planning of healthy urban, rural and regional communities and environments. They work with community members, developers and elected officials to create places that optimize the use or preservation of society’s environmental, economic, social, cultural aesthetic, and infrastructure assets.

What you will learn
You will learn about the challenges of managing urbanization in a variety of contexts and about the latest innovations in planning policy and design. Some of the topics you’ll study include: land-use planning that integrates modern technologies, active transportation and transportation infrastructure, climate change solutions, energy conservation, protecting water supplies, and caring for natural areas. You will learn about community engagement, policy analysis and government processes, economics, planning and development law, geomatics, and conflict resolution.

The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) degree is a four-year program offered by the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business.
All undergraduate students admitted to the Edwards School of Business are required to complete a common first-year of studies. In January of your second year, you'll apply to a specialization in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing or Supply Chain Management.

Management
Management is the organization and coordination of business activities in order to achieve certain goals and objectives. The major is designed for those students who seek a business education and do not wish to narrow their focus to a specific functional area.

What you will learn
Students within the Management major have significant flexibility to take a collection of courses from accounting, finance, human resource management, marketing, management and supply chain management. This wide breadth of knowledge gives you an ideal understanding of the strategy needed to achieve overall organizational goals and objectives.

Mathematical physics connects mathematics to physical phenomena. Its tools allow us to describe how a top spins, how a pendulum swings or how a rattleback rocks and defies normal intuition. Studying mathematical physics reveals the hidden intricacies of relativity and quantum theory.

What you will learn
You will study conceptual, mathematical frameworks that describe or explain physical phenomena. You will learn how one builds theories of physical phenomena, accounting for physical features which are then expressed in precise mathematical terms. The deductions of the theory capture essential aspects of physical reality.

Learn about the world around you as you develop a broad understanding of international events and complex challenges involving peace and conflict, poverty and development, social justice and the environment.

What you will learn   
This program will equip you with global literacy and key insights into our interconnected world. You will take classes that explore government, business, culture, the environment, politics and international aspects of law, science, conflict and development. You will learn about inequality globally, challenges to cooperation among states, and the reasons for and complexity of crises and conflicts. You will understand and engage with some of the world’s most pressing issues.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, accredited by the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration (CAPPA), is designed to prepare students for careers in public administration and policy work in diverse areas such as non-government organizations, industry associations, and, of course, the public service. MPA students are exposed to core concepts in policy formation and analysis, and have the opportunity to explore substantive areas such as social policy, health policy, innovation policy, trade and immigration policy, resource and environmental policy, and public sector management. 

The standard time in the program for the MPA is two years. However, the MPA can be completed in a period as short as 16 months (via an accelerated program) and as long as five years (the maximum time allowed in program for Masters students).

Sociology is the study of human social life, focusing on developing an understanding of changes in social structure and human interaction on an individual, societal and global level.

What you will learn
You will examine human behavior and why people interact the way they do. You will focus on current social issues and the evolutionary changes of societies as you explore criminology and legal studies, race and ethnic relations, medical sociology, labour and education, agriculture and development, women's and gender studies, mass media and communications, and religion.You will also have the opportunity to develop skills related to research methods, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication.

This program examines human behaviour, institutions and culture in order to reveal and analyze the gender assumptions on which they are based. It examines the changing positions of women and men, gender nonconformity, queer studies, activism and the evolving understanding of gender.

What you will learn
You will examine the portrayal of femininities and masculinities in advertising, news media, literature, art, music, pornography, religion and films. You will study the relation between biology and gender constructions, gendered patterns of language use, the role of gender in processes of identity formation and socialization and women's changing economic and political roles.

Archaeology is the study of artifacts and other physical remains of earlier societies and communities in order to unravel the mysteries of human cultural diversity and adaptation. Archaeologists can reconstruct past human behaviours and life ways from tools, shelters, ornaments, food remnants, modified landscapes, and even human remains.

What you will learn
The program focuses on the past peoples of western Canada and the broader Circumpolar North. You will have the opportunity to participate in the excavation of archaeological sites and will learn how to employ a wide variety of laboratory techniques. These include the analyses of artifacts and other archaeological materials such as human and non-human skeletal remains. You will learn how people interacted with past environments and how sociocultural explanations relevant to past human experiences are developed and tested. In sum, you will learn about how and why human behaviour has changed in the past in order to better understand human behavioural changes today and into the future.

Supply Chain Management
Supply Chain Management is delivery-focused, coordinating the end-to-end flow of an organization’s goods, information and money, and ensuring that an organization successfully turns inputs to outputs in an efficient manner.

What you will learn
The major prepares students to deal with the management of all activities directly related to the design and delivery of services, manufacturing and production of goods, and management of supply chains.
Supply chain management professionals are detail-oriented and constantly think about how to make processes more efficient.
