Plant Ecologists study the interactions among plants, between plants and the environment, and between soils, plants and animals. Forestry industries, human and livestock health, and agriculture all depend on healthy plant communities and ecosystems.

What you will learn
Learn how to apply ecological principles to ecosystems such as rangelands, forests, wetlands, and croplands for sustainable production. Applied Plant Ecology integrates principles and advanced knowledge of managing, conserving, and restoring natural and semi-natural landscapes and ecosystems.

Computer science studies the theory, design, development and application of software and software systems in a wide range of fields from artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction to computational modelling and computer graphics.

What you will learn
You will learn about a wide range of topics including design and maintenance of software systems, distributed systems, human-computer interaction, computational modeling, artificial intelligence, mobile computing, programming languages, image processing, and computer graphics. You will learn to combine creative problem solving and analytical skills to create practical and innovative software.

Discover your true potential as a musician, teacher, composer or music theorist. Develop your abilities with individual private lessons in applied study on piano, voice, brass, winds, strings or percussion with nationally and internationally trained instructors.

What you will learn

• You will study performance, composition, music theory, history and literature, and both elementary and secondary music education. You will receive weekly private lessons and ensemble experience every year. You'll engage in significant student-teaching experiences throughout your degree and an extensive internship in the second year of your Bachelor of Education-Sequential Music program.
• Once you are finished your Bachelor of Music - Music Education degree in the College of Arts and Science, you will be accepted automatically into the College of Education so that you can complete a Bachelor of Education - Sequential Music degree in two years. This allows you to finish two degrees in six years.

Soil forms an essential part of the environment—affecting or controlling most living things. Soil science studies the soil system to find the best ways of producing food, fuel, and fibre while still preserving soil for use by future generations.

What you will learn
Soil science draws from biology, ecology, geography, geology and a variety of other natural and life sciences. The soil science program at the University of Saskatchewan provides an in-depth understanding of the physical, biological and chemical processes that occur in soil and the role soil plays in plant production and environmental management.

Our Master of Business Administration (MBA) program helps professionals from all backgrounds who are seeking to advance or change their careers. We do this by offering a learning environment based on practical experience and essential management skills.

The Edwards MBA can be completed in only 12 months if taken full time, or part time in up to 36 months. A decidedly unique aspect of this innovative MBA program is the focused learning and integration of business concepts.  Each course is offered consecutively in a modular format. Courses are scheduled in three week durations creating an intensive learning environment that immerses students in the subject area while allowing flexibility in scheduling your MBA education. Furthermore, our students learn how business concepts are integrated into business decisions through a combination of applied courses, exercises, case studies and projects incorporating each functional business area.

Students in the MBA program participate in a one-week intensive experiential management skills retreat in beautiful Northern Saskatchewan. This course provides MBA students with skills to enhance self-understanding; improve interpersonal effectiveness and successfully manage in complex environments. Students will explore their personal management style and improve their communication skills; gain valuable insights into how to manage difficult people; conduct interest-based negotiations; and help their subordinates achieve improved levels of performance. We will also highlight the role of personal wellness as a critical aspect of management performance.

Students from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the MBA program. The diverse student body creates a classroom environment where students are encouraged to examine complex business scenarios from a variety of professional perspectives. Students in the MBA program work together throughout the year on group projects and extra-curricular events, and as a result become extremely close knit. Your peers will become lifelong friends, and will enhance the quality of your education by sharing their experiences both in, and out of the classroom.

The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) degree is a four-year program offered by the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business.
All undergraduate students admitted to the Edwards School of Business are required to complete a common first-year of studies. In January of your second year, you'll apply to a specialization in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing or Supply Chain Management.

Accounting
Accounting is the art of measuring, communicating, and interpreting financial activity, and is sometimes referred to as "the language of business." It involves interacting with numbers and people to determine the financial health of an organization.

What you will learn
The Accounting major is designed to provide students with the general, business and accounting knowledge necessary for them to succeed as professional accountants. Since accounting is a dynamic field, all accounting majors will learn how to keep their knowledge up-to-date so they can continue to grow throughout their professional careers.

You will acquire the communication, computer, and interpersonal skills necessary to successfully resolve complex problems in unstructured settings. You will also benefit from participation in activities such as the Volunteer Tax Program where fourth year accounting students volunteer their time to prepare tax returns for seniors and people with disabilities.

Biomedical foundations provides students with a strong foundation of multidisciplinary training in biomedical science while providing flexibility for initial specialization within a particular biomedical science.

What you will learn
This program includes necessary courses to prepare you for entry into health-related professional schools not requiring a four-year degree, such as dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacy. You will also learn essential skills for careers in broad aspects of biotechnology, as well as employment in academic/research institutions and related industries.
 

Biomedical neuroscience is the study of molecular and cellular neuroscience, systems and sensory neuroscience, behavioural and cognitive neuroscience, neurophysiology and neuroanatomy.

What you will learn
This program includes education in many of the major topics in neuroscience. This program includes necessary prerequisite courses for life science professional schools (e.g. medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nutrition, veterinary medicine, etc.). While this program focuses on neuroscience, it prepares students for graduate studies in many areas of the life sciences.

The Edwards Master of Business Administration program is a transformational experience that focuses around teambuilding, leadership and business strategy. You will learn the people skills of management such as how to manage, how to communicate effectively, and how to lead. Our students develop management skills that are both integrative and strategic, gaining a deeper understanding of organizations and their local and global context. Graduates then enter their professional endeavors with confidence, integrity and accountability. The Edwards MBA Internship Program (EMIP) is an 8-month work experience which starts in January of the 1st year of your MBA degree. If you're admitted to EMIP, and you're successful in securing a placement, you must agree to complete your MBA over a minimum of two years.

The program is designed for students with little or no work experience in their desired field. An internship is a value-added component of the Edwards MBA Program where you're provided with an opportunity to implement the business theory and concepts from your MBA coursework. Work placements also provide increased opportunities for learning, mentorship and post-graduation employment.

Gain a broader understanding of different cultures, the literature of their area and the structure and functioning of languages through linguistics. With globalization progressing at a rapid speed, dealing with people from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds will become increasingly important, both in our professional and personal lives.

What you will learn
You will be combining two (or more) languages in conjunction with courses in linguistics and comparative literature. You will gain a broader understanding of different cultures, the literature of your chosen area and the structure and functioning of languages through linguistics. The primary language course options include French, German and Spanish.
