B.Sc. in Polymer  chemistry offered at UPES is a three-year undergraduate course. The program mainly include study of polymers synthesis, polymer properties, polymer processing, polymer testing, polymer degradation, polymer reaction, composites and applications. The course is a concoction of the study of commerce and law. By completing this integrated course, a student can learn about two different professional fields. The specialised law course, in its five-years duration, equips the students with the knowledge of both commerce and legislative regulations as a comprehensive concept.

The specialisation educates students in regulating and resolving disputes relating to both individual labour laws i.e. the employees’ rights at work and the employment standards as well as the tripartite labour laws i.e. the relationship between the employer, employee, and the union. UPES provides students with an opportunity to complete two seminar papers and a dissertation exclusively in labour laws under the mentorship of the faculty and an industry-based professional.

This program induces the thinking skills for the development of mobile applications at all enterprise segments. It also inculcates the transformation of industries and related organisations adapting to the “App Revolution” and initiated the incorporation towards bridging the latest technology and industry requirements.

M.Sc. (Petroleum Geo-Sciences)- Unconventional Hydrocarbons

Unconventional hydrocarbons include shale gas, tight oil, tight gas, coalbed methane, and gas hydrates. Oil and gas industry is going through a change, where the conventional production is steadily being replaced by unconventional hydrocarbon exploitation. After the success of shale gas in North America and its impact on the conventional oil and gas industry, it is believed that the future of oil and gas will see more new unconventional technologies and workflows that will allow increasingly efficient exploitation.

While there are some common aspects to all unconventional resources, there are also some specific issues related to each of the resources. This course helps in giving a broad overview of what makes a resource unconventional, what are the common elements that influence exploration decisions, drilling and completion decisions, stimulations, and ultimately sustaining the business model. At the same time, it also makes the students aware of the key specifics that relate to each of the unconventional resources especially its evaluation, exploration, drilling, production, and reservoir management.

The B. Tech. Applied Petroleum Engineering Upstream Spl in Specialization in Digital oilfield training is the panacea for intricacies of today’s oilfield business. There is scarcity of digitally trained workforce in E & P sector, which is major roadblock in the adoption of digitalization in the oil and gas industry.

Keeping this in mind, UPES offers digital oil field specialization to B Tech students of petroleum engineering. Digital oilfield concept blends business process management with digital technologies for workflow automation, productivity maximization, and cost reduction, resulting in O&G operation risk minimization.

A thorough implementation of digital oilfield can aid E&P as well as service companies enhance operational efficiency, production optimization, data integration, teamwork, and workflow automation. Furthermore, productivity gains can be achieved through enriched understanding of the subsurface, long-distance monitoring of drilling and completion operations, and logistics optimization.

Biosimilar is that branch of study which deals with study of drugs that are very similar to original product, but not identical. They are not generic drugs and do not possess the same active pharmaceutical ingredient, yet comparable to original reference drug in terms of quality, safety and efficacy. Biosimilar are alternative potential therapeutics but not generics. For biosimilar products, the manufacturing process requires a high level of monitoring and testing.  

At UPES, B.Tech. Biotechnology students with a specialization in Biosimilar will be made familiar with existing regulations, manufacturing sciences and distribution practices of Biosimilar products in India and all across the globe. Students will learn about controversies associated with Generic drugs and need for development of Biosimilar products. Students will also learn how a drug is discovered in a lab, followed by testing in clinical trials and then launched in market for commercialization.

The specialization in marketing prepares the students on subjects like Digital Human Resource Management, Compensation Management etc. The emphasis is on developing critical as well as analytical thinking in the specialized area though case study, projects, workshops, masterclasses by industry experts, among other pedagogical tools.

Computational Mathematics involves mathematical research in areas of science and engineering where computing plays an essential role. Some topics of study include developing accurate and efficient numerical methods for solving physical or biological models, analysis of numerical approximations to differential and integral equations, developing computational tools to better understand data and structure, etc. 

This program is designed for students who want not only a sound consolidation of their learnings at undergraduate level in Physics, but also seek specialized training in Electronics catering to the future requirements of the industry.
