This course offers a critical awareness of current developments and future trends in cryptography, network security and mobile/wireless security. You will explore techniques and technologies to combat threats such as malware, social engineering, data leakage or zero-day attacks, based on understanding secure authentication mechanisms, access control, intrusion detection, information security policies and user education. On this course, you'll gain detailed knowledge of building maintenance, care, conservation and structure, reflecting the work of a building surveyor. You'll study the business and legal aspects of property and construction. You'll learn how to advise clients of legal and financial implications resulting from the condition of buildings.

On this course, you'll study how computers can be used to prevent and solve crime. You'll develop web technology programming skills and study specialised tools and operating system environments. You'll examine encryption algorithms, public-key cryptography, network security, endpoint security and digital forensics. Kingston University has its own scene-of-crime house located on site, which is used to recreate crime scenes and enables you to put your investigative skills into practice. The property's garden is used by the forensic team's archaeologist for field investigations.

Lecturers on the course have wide experience in the forensics sector and many have worked either as forensic scientists or as expert witnesses. They are also actively engaged in forensic research, and are supported by visiting speakers from leading forensic consultancies.

This course is ideal if you're interested in film and creative industry careers beyond production, such as scriptwriting, journalism and reviewing, festival programming, museum and exhibit curation, and promotion and marketing. The course examines creative writing and film within historical, cultural and geographical contexts, rather than in isolation. You'll explore how writing and film are shaped by their surroundings. Through analysis of published writing, you'll consider language and style. In Year 3, the course culminates in a major research project, covering a topic of your choice. You'll also complete a creative writing dissertation.
