As part of this course, you’ll:

• Work with people from across the lifespan and with a range of physical, mental and social difficulties such as dementia, stroke, homelessness or unemployment

As part of this course you’ll:

• Develop the scientific foundation required to undertake a PhD qualification in biomedical sciences and related areas
• Work solely on an extended research project from January to September
• Be supported by staff from our Centre for Biomedical Science Research as you develop your practical expertise to an advanced level
• Have a wide variety of research options to choose from within molecular biology, microbiology, pharmacology and biochemistry

This integrated masters course provides the ideal platform to gain broad-based technical experience that will enable you to enter design, construction or operations roles within the civil engineering industry.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Build the foundations for a diverse and interesting future in civil engineering
• Develop knowledge of the mathematical and scientific principles and methodologies which underpin civil engineering
• Apply your knowledge to real-world problems
• Learn to produce innovative solutions using technical literature and industry codes of standard
• Practice using investigation and evaluation of design-related engineering issues
• Gain detailed knowledge and technical proficiency in health and safety, sustainable, environmental and economic development, and the frameworks in which they operate
• Equip yourself with the problem-solving skills to work on projects such as designing large structures and infrastructure including roads, water supply and drainage, bridges, airports, tunnels, and sea and flood defences

 You’ll learn using a variety of tools, including case studies and design-based exercises that will enable you to develop applied skills, participate in critical analysis and practise your presentation skills.

You will specialise in either contemporary literature or creative writing. Taught in workshops held on weekday evenings, you will be able to fit your studies around your existing commitments.

Contemporary Literature
Specialise in researching contemporary literature. You will be introduced to a range of recent literary texts in English and develop an advanced, critical understanding of recent debates on the contemporary creative process.

You will be encouraged by expert tutors to develop your skills in close reading, creating and delivering presentations and formal discussions. Modules will explore how contemporary literary studies is a creative process, and will enable you to specialise in topics at the cutting edge of the discipline.   

Your independent project will enable you to experience the process of defining your own area of investigation and conducting in-depth research and writing.

Creative Writing
Study creative writing at an advanced level. From the outset, you will focus on developing particular expertise in the writing process, and the texts and theories you study will enhance your writing practice.

Explore criminal behaviour, policing and criminal justice, and cultivate a deeper understanding of our current responses to crime on this qualifying law degree.

The course is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board as meeting the academic requirements of your legal training, and completion will enable you to undertake further study in order to become a solicitor or barrister.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Develop your understanding of case law and legislation
• Engage with key criminological theories and concepts relating to crime, victimisation, responses to crime and deviance
