Build on your existing knowledge of finance and economics with a thorough examination of international banking and investment. You will learn about banking regulations across the globe and how economic factors can affect investment growth and financial stability. You will explore theories relevant to understanding current industry practices in the UK and further afield.

You will be taught by a team of supportive tutors, and you will be able to draw on their considerable industry experience in economics and finance, which includes consultancy work with the International Monetary Fund.

Complementing the strong international dimension of this course, you could find yourself working alongside students from around the world, sharing experiences, new ideas and different ways of working.

As part of your course, you’ll:

We have strong relationships with companies in the region and you’ll be taught by building surveyors. Visiting planners, architects, researchers and civil and structural engineers will deliver guest lectures and share up-to-date experience of their work in the field.

As a graduate, you’ll be eligible for full membership of the RICS following a period of approved professional practice. You’ll also need to complete a successful final assessment of professional competence by the RICS.

As part of this course, you’ll:

The world of cinema increasingly offers opportunities for study outside of filmmaking itself. This innovative programme offers the opportunity to gain both the vital skills and critical awareness necessary to pursue a career in the diverse areas of contemporary film curation and exhibition, whether within the industry or within the field of research. This could include curation within a museum or arts centre; festival management; exhibition and distribution both theatrical and online; or cinema programming.

A range of placements with industry partners including The Tetley, a leading centre for contemporary art housed in the former Tetley brewery, and Leeds International Film Festival, will allow you to see this in action, providing you with the practical skills you need to successfully curate and exhibit films.

Classroom-based modules will explain the theory behind programming, archiving and film exhibition using case studies including cinemas, art galleries and festivals amongst others.

Develop your skills in product design and professional practice.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Gain insight into user requirements, economic, environmental and ethical considerations, as well as materials, manufacturing, production and industry capabilities
• Use your insights to help inform the design of your products
• Design a range of products for both commercial and domestic use, including furniture, interior products, consumer goods and sustainable products
• Work on live industry briefs, which will ensure you’ll be working in real world settings to design products that make a positive contribution to the world around us

Develop a thorough and critical understanding of psychological theory and research methods.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Apply this expertise to your study of human behaviour
• Question why humans act the way they do, delving into specialist areas including drug abuse, clinical and forensic psychology and cognitive neuroscience
• Conduct contemporary psychological research, including laboratory experiments, interviews and focus groups

As part of your course you’ll:

• Concentrate on four themes: performance (group and individual), composition and arrangement, technology and production, and contextual studies
• Work alongside students and staff both in the studio and at live music venues, building a portfolio that will help you achieve your professional ambitions as a musician
• Work in conjunction with students from music production in the studios as well as working in live venues
• Have access to workshops and industry professionals through our links with JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) and the Music Producers Guild

You’ll have the option to gain invaluable work experience through a placement year in industry and the opportunity to work with external clients in your final year. Throughout your course you’ll be encouraged to perform externally in the many venues that Leeds has to offer. Previous students have performed at events including the Live at Leeds festival, which attracts thousands of visitors to venues across the city every year.
