Project management isn’t just about being organised. Much like entrepreneurs, they need to take responsibility, be organised and have the ability to drive a project team to success. During this course, we’ll show you how to take deliver it successfully.

This course is tailored to ambitious students who are keen to learn theory in practice. Supported by our academic team you’ll learn how organisations work and operate in a business environment.

Delivering project management skills

During your course you’ll study project management using software applications. You’ll gain the knowledge and capability to use these tools in a dynamic environment. You’ll learn to use Microsoft Project, SAP, and a host of other software that helps you to manage and control projects.

You’ll also learn about the key functions of a successful business – strategy development, management styles, business resourcing and more.

You’ll take part in group projects, talking to project managers who work on live projects so you can understand more about the role in business. You’ll also have guest speakers and coursework based on ongoing projects in a range of industries.

Supporting physical and mental health is central in all areas of life and employment. This master's degree integrates the promotion of health and wellness with a focus on mental and physical health. You'll gain the knowledge, clinical practitioner and professional skills you need for a career working with clients and patients in health-related settings. You'll also have the opportunity to undertake hands-on learning through a professional placement (the placement option is not available in the 2020/21 academic year due to COVID-19).

This MSc has been developed for psychology graduates (or a related discipline, such as health studies, counselling, mental health, nursing, or public health) and current health and mental healthcare professionals wishing to further their studies, develop their knowledge and skills and enhance their career opportunities.

During the course, you'll be examining health, wellness and illness to understand the relationship between psychological variables and biomedical conditions as well as physical and mental health and wellbeing.

You'll focus on application and intervention and have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and practice professional and clinical skills. These can include communication with clients, ethical and reflective practice, judgment and decision-making, and skills related to formulation and assessment, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and health behaviour change.

We have strong partnerships with many health psychology organisations and trusts which means that you'll be able to undertake an eight-week work placement and gain valuable hands-on work experience.

Network management covers a wide area including performance reliability, security, fault, accounting and configuration management. This master's programme has been developed to meet the growing needs of a rapidly evolving sector of industry. The programme is designed as a full-time course including industrial experience whenever possible, or as a part-time programme.

The modules taught on this programme present a well-balanced combination of the theory of computer networks, network management, and network security. Through gaining the essential and much needed skills of network security, you'll have the opportunity to work in a dedicated laboratory to experience security configuration for various systems.

The modules taught on this programme include network systems and services, computer networks, wireless and mobile communication systems, network management, security and disaster recovery, and web-based information systems management. This is in addition to the computer communications project. These modules present a good combination of the theory of computer networks, their management and application.

You'll also have the opportunity to work in a dedicated laboratory to experience setting up local area networks, and troubleshoot such systems. Alongside PCs, the laboratory is equipped with internet working units, such as hubs, switches, routers and servers. You will experience the use of various network operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP/Win7, Novell NetWare, and Linux in a networked environment.

You will be encouraged to learn, explore and work within our award-winning technology centre and its five specialist laboratories equipped with the latest industry-standard hardware and software, including OPNET, Wireshark, MATLAB, Simulink, OpNet Modeller 17.0, OMNeT++ , NI and Cisco technology such as Packet Tracer.

The final dissertation offers the opportunity to integrate all of your studies through an individual piece of practical, problem solving work of topical interest to you and of relevance to industry.

Access to campus-based facilities will depend on COVID-19 related restrictions in place at the time. In some instances remote access to campus facilities or equivalent online facilities may be used instead.

The course is designed for those students who have previously studied computing at university level or who are currently working in the sector, and are looking to develop an advanced mastery of the subject.

Our information systems degree gives you the skills, experience and expertise you need to succeed in the computer-based sector – and beyond. You’ll get to grips with the specialist equipment, systems and technologies that will give you the experience, expertise and confidence to apply your skill. Our degree will prepare you for career paths that range from organisational management and systems architects to chief information officers and enterprise architects.

This is an interdisciplinary course meaning the content's structured in ways that map explicitly to modern technology, including systems design, application development, client-side programming, and much more.

Build your information systems skills

You’ll have the opportunity to take a year-long, paid work experience placement as part of a four-year study path (subject to securing an organisation that is able to support such a placement during the COVID-19 pandemic). We’ll also give you industry professionals and work experience opportunities to help you further develop your professional skills and network. In the past, our students have taken part in Sky's hackathon which tested their knowledge and team-working skills.

We’re in the process of gaining BCS (British Computer Society) accreditation for our computer science degrees, which means you’ll be able to gain BCS membership once it’s awarded.

The career of an engineering project manager is an exciting and challenging one - overseeing complex projects, taking charge of teams and delivering on time and on budget. Yet there's a worldwide shortage of graduates who have the elusive combination of technical knowledge and the management capability that such a demanding role needs. This Masters degree was created to meet that demand.

This in-depth, technical and practical course is designed specifically for those students who have studied engineering at university level and are looking to develop an advanced mastery of the subject.

Develop your skills and practical experience with us
We’ve got psychology specialist laboratories and counselling practice rooms that, when available to access, will let you develop the practical skills needed to succeed in the field. You’ll be guided by teaching staff who are leading researchers in areas including health psychology, forensic psychology and qualitative research. Even in eventualities where we are unable to be in the laboratory or classroom together, we aim to use virtual tools to help you develop key practical skills.

Between the second and third years of study, you'll be encouraged to undertake an expenses-based year-long work placement. This will give you the chance to apply your knowledge, develop practical skills, and boost the chances of employment after you graduate. A range of established organisations are involved with our placement course, including Great Ormond Hospital School, St Georges Hospital, Priory Hospital, Institute of Psychiatry, Institute of Education, University College London, Holloway Prison, and the Metropolitan Police. The availability of placements is subject to the co-operating organisation, and we are working closely with our partners to make as many as possible available even during the pandemic. You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto one of our three-year degree courses in these subject areas. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

Our multi-disciplinary biomedical engineering course mixes engineering with biomedical science and physiology. This provides you with a solid understanding of the technological developments taking place in the fields of medical engineering and bioengineering.

You will build on your previous experience in applied mathematics, physics, or other sciences. During your course you will enhance your engineering knowledge and gain specialist skills which will help you to design and improve existing and emergent systems, devices and treatments.
