This course allows you to combine subjects from the School of Economics and the School of Accounting and Finance with the benefit of one year abroad. 

The School of Accounting and Finance prepares you for a career in the accountancy profession or financial markets through access to subjects accredited by several professional accountancy bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Additionally, you will be prepared for a career as an economist, studying in a School of Economics run by world-leading experts.

On this four-year, joint honors course you will develop your language and cultural knowledge of France and the Francophone world to degree level alongside core units in civil and common law – the world’s most prominent legal systems. The course is structured to help you think, write, reason and argue like an international lawyer while gaining a rich understanding of the French language, linguistics, literature, history, and culture. It will also help you develop key skills in research and analysis

This programme engages with contemporary policy concerns and the increasing complexity of the policy environment. It explores the contested dynamics of policy making and policy implementation and provides students with the skills to understand, critically evaluate and develop policy alternatives in a local, national and international context. The programme seeks to prepare the next generation of policy makers to address a range of policy issues and understand the role and impact of different stakeholders including business, and the voluntary sector as well as international and regional organisations.
 
It is intended for those who aspire to pursue professional career options, including policy planning, policy consultancy and policy officer positions for local and national government, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, and policy consultancy.
 
As well as considering generic policy concerns, the programme gives you an opportunity to choose from a range of substantive policy issues, which might include the international analysis of poverty and social exclusion; public management and organisations; migration, asylum and human rights; the economics of public policy; and corruption and public policy. Every unit considers policy in an international and comparative context.

This course is ideal for students interested in learning more about how to use numbers and data within geography. It provides training in practical and analytical skills, which will enhance your career prospects and provide you with a strong platform for postgraduate study. No prior knowledge of statistical techniques is required.

About two thirds of your studies will follow the single honours BSc Geography course, where you will acquire core knowledge in your subject. You will develop a wide range of geographical and scientific skills, gaining an advanced overview of both human and physical geography in year one, and choosing from a wide range of specialist units in years two and three.

The remaining third of your course will provide interdisciplinary training in quantitative methods. In year one of the quantitative pathway we discuss how numbers and data are used to tell convincing stories in the media and social research. We consider what is meant by segregation and how it can be mapped and measured. Year two offers practical classes in social statistics and applied data analysis, which will develop your skills in numeracy and analysis and enable you to undertake your own individual research project in an area of quantitative social science in year three.

Our education master's degrees give you the opportunity to design a tailored program of study that suits your cultural and learning needs. You will be able to specialise and receive an award in a particular disciplinary area.

The Leadership and Policy pathway will help you develop the theoretical knowledge and skills to lead quality improvement and promote social justice within organisations. You will critically engage with ideas and practices around leading and managing organisational change and educational effectiveness.

Develop an understanding of the evolution of life on this planet through the study of geology and biology.

Learn from experts, with interests ranging from dinosaurs to plants to the origin of life, and become fully immersed in hands-on palaeontology from the start.

One third of the first year is dedicated to biology and two thirds to earth science. After the first year you will take core units from both disciplines.

In the third year you will carry out a research project and take a range of specialist palaeontology units. Examples of current units include: Marine Micropalaeontology, where you will learn to use microfossils to reconstruct past climates and understand their impact on ecosystems; Macroevolution, where you will learn cutting-edge techniques for analysing the large-scale patterns in the evolution of life; and Vertebrate Palaeobiology and Biomechanics, where you will study the evolution of the vertebrates from fish-like creatures to humans. You will also select from a range of optional units to pursue your own interests.

The course involves fieldwork, including dedicated palaeontology field courses, the cost of which is included in your tuition fee.

Data science is an exciting emerging discipline having a profound impact on society. The world produces increasing volumes of data every day and making sense of this data has the capacity to be transformative. Data science combines mathematical, statistical and computational approaches to enable knowledge discovery from data. Career prospects in this field are very strong.

Bristol’s data science expertise means that you’ll be taught the sophisticated theory and methods needed to address modern data-analytic challenges by leading academics in this field. You will study units involving a blend of theoretical background and practical skills designed especially for this new course, including Mathematical Tools for Data Science, Advanced Linear Modelling and Classification, and Algorithms and Machine Learning. Our BSc Psychology is recognised by the British Psychological Society as qualification for graduate registration and our course is specifically designed to meet its requirements.

In the first year you will study psychology, research methods (laboratory classes and statistics) and an open unit in another school.

In the second year you will focus on research methods and units in the psychology core curriculum.

The final year of the degree is entirely option based, allowing you to choose from a range of lecture and seminar units that you will undertake together with a research project.
