The M.S. in Biology is a 33-34 hour program with a required thesis based on original research. Faculty with expertise in ecology, genetics, botany, entomology, herpetology, zoology, cell and molecular biology, reproductive biology, microbiology and other fields advise student research.  Individual faculty in the Biology Department should be consulted about their research programs.

The courses in chemistry and physics are designed to prepare individuals for a variety of post baccalaureate options. The Bachelor of Science degree is for individuals who are seeking employment as chemical or physical professionals, or who wish to continue studies toward a Masters or Ph.D.

Students who are looking to pursue a further degree in law, medicine, dentistry, or pharmaceuticals will find either the B.S. degrees in chemistry as an option for entry into the appropriate post-baccalaureate program.

As an interdisciplinary degree with content focused on life science, this program is amenable for those in teaching, medical technology, nursing, museum curatorial and other professions.

 Advising committees are formed to assist students in developing a program tailored to their long term professional goals and interests.

Students in the performance concentration areas will develop comprehensive capabilities in the major performing medium including the ability to work independently to prepare performances at the highest possible level; knowledge of applicable solo and ensemble literature; and orientation to and experience with the fundamentals of pedagogy.

Mass Communication is the study of sharing information through media outlets to reach large population segments. The primary focus of the M.S. in Mass Communications is on the fundamentals of communication theories enabling students to acquire the ability to understand and use basic methods of communication research.

Marketing is the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of ideas, goods, and services to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives. All types of organizations perform marketing activities to facilitate exchanges. Businesses, as well as nonbusiness organizations such as universities, charitable organizations, community theatres and hospitals, perform marketing activities. The major in marketing provides education and training for those interested in planning and implementing successful marketing strategies. The student with energy, ability, and the competitive urge will discover that this major will open many opportunities to serve the public as well as receive material reward.

As such, the program stresses the development of analytical, problem-solving and decision making competencies for the dynamic, complex global organizational and social environments.

Healthcare Management - Concentration
The MBA with a Concentration in Healthcare Management is designed to allow students to complement their studies in business administration with in-depth coverage of the core components of the healthcare administration arena and the unique issues and challenges facing healthcare organizations in the dynamic healthcare industry. Students will complete the 24 hours of the MBA core and 15 hours of graduate level courses in Healthcare Administration.

Agricultural Education Emphasis
The focus of the program is to prepare outstanding future educators and leaders in the public and private sectors.  The Agricultural Education program is structured around the needs of students and their career goals.  Students in the program are required to take personal responsibility for their education to include involvement and participation in courses and extracurricular activities which are essential to learning and future career success. Formal and informal learning experiences are designed to enable students to successfully progress through the program encouraging academic and professional development as well as personal growth.

Agricultural Science Emphasis
The Agricultural Science emphasis at A-State offers students access to a broad array of agriculture discipline areas.  This emphasis allows the student to develop a diverse knowledge within five major agriculture areas, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Studies, Animal Science, Plant and Soil Science, and Technology.  In addition to our Agriculture core classes, the student selects twelve hours in each of the discipline areas.  An additional 18 hours minor is required and can be used to enhance a specialized area of study which will serve the student’s specific needs or interests.  Many graduates become involved with agriculture business and production entities.

Agricultural Systems Technology Emphasis
The Agricultural Systems Technology Science emphasis at A-State offers students access to a broad array of agriculture and technology discipline areas.  This emphasis allows the student to develop a diverse knowledge of agriculture and technology.

The MBA with a Concentration in Finance is designed to allow students to complement their studies in business administration with in-depth coverage of the core components of ?nance, including corporate ?nance, ?nancial markets and institutions, and investments. Students will complete the 27 hours within the MBA core and 9 additional hours of graduate level ?nance coursework.
