The Coordinated Program (CP) in Dietetics at Arkansas State University – Jonesboro is administered by the Dietetics Program in the College of Nursing & Health Professions. The program provides for the achievement of knowledge and performance requirements for entry-level dietitians through integration of didactic instruction with a minimum of 1080 hours of supervised practice and a minimum of 120 alternate supervised practice experiences, as established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The supervised practice experiences occur in foodservice, community and clinical settings. The program features a “clinical” concentration, which allows students to build upon foundation knowledge and competencies for future proficiency in the clinical area of dietetics.

Students apply for admission to the CP after they have finished the sophomore year. The CP requires two years to complete the didactic instruction and supervised practice rotations. Students must have reliable transportation for travel to various practice sites for the rotations. A Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics is granted to students upon completion of the program. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the national credentialing examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) to become registered dietitians. In addition to RD credentialing, many states have regulatory laws for dietitians and nutrition practitioners. Frequently these state requirements are met through the same education and training required to become an RD.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders is a preprofessional degree program which provides students with academic and practical preparation considered essential for success in the Communication Disorders graduate program.

The undergraduate curriculum offers students a broad base of preparation in general education requirements, the sciences associated with communication and its disorders, anatomy and physiology, and a number of basic methods courses associated with the identification and treatment of a variety of communication disorders.

The Arkansas State University MBA Program is a professional degree program designed to prepare students of all educational and professional backgrounds for management positions in all types of organizations. As such, the program stresses the development of analytical, problem-solving and decision making competencies for the dynamic, complex global organizational and social environments.

Marketing - Concentration
The MBA with a Concentration in Marketing program is designed to allow students to complement their studies in business administration with in-depth coverage of the core components of marketing theory as applied in today’s marketing environment. Students will complete the 27 hours within the MBA core (which includes one graduate level marketing course) and 9 additional hours of graduate level marketing coursework.

The Arkansas State University Masters in Exercise Science program is designed to prepare students for a variety of jobs in health, wellness, and the clinical settings through course work, practical experiences, and research opportunities. Graduates of the program will be prepared to take certification exams offered through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  Obtaining this degree along with nationally recognized certifications will prepare individuals to work and manage commercial and corporate wellness facilities as well as work in the clinical settings.

The focus of the B.S. Mathematics degree program at Arkansas State University is to provide students with the opportunity and the direction to pursue the intellectual challenges of mathematics; and to provide the mathematical knowledge necessary to function competently in graduate school and/or in a career requiring mathematical skills.  Students graduating with the B.S. Mathematics degree will have a strong foundation in the fundamental notions of mathematics, including rigorous proof, and will possess valuable skills in problem solving, critical thinking, and the effective communication of mathematical concepts and models.  Coursework includes exposure to physics, programming, and electives that allow students to explore various topics in applied and pure mathematics and statistics.  The flexibility within the B.S. Mathematics degree allows for optimal preparation for graduate study in mathematics or statistics and prepares B.S. Mathematics students for pursuing careers as an actuary, mathematician, operations research analyst, or statistician; and for other jobs in business, industry, or government that have math as an essential job skill.

The Civil Engineering Programs at Arkansas State University are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.  Civil engineering is the application of math, science, and engineering fundamentals for the benefit of society and the supporting infrastructure systems.

Civil engineers are involved in the following areas:

• Environmental Engineering (pollution control including the design of water and waste water facilities)
• Water Resources (study of the flow of water over land, under ground and storage)
• Transportation Engineering (design of highways and studies of traffic flow)

Civil Engineering at A-State
The civil engineering program of ASU offers courses in all areas of civil engineering with a strong general education component. The faculty is involved in research, solving engineering problems in the community, consulting work. These experiences are brought into the classroom so students receive a well-rounded educational experience. This includes learning the engineering theory as well as the practical application of the theory to real world problems.

The M.S. in Biology is a 33-34 hour program with a required thesis based on original research. Faculty with expertise in ecology, genetics, botany, entomology, herpetology, zoology, cell and molecular biology, reproductive biology, microbiology and other fields advise student research.  Individual faculty in the Biology Department should be consulted about their research programs.

The goal of the MSEng program is to provide an educational experience focusing on the integration of research and technology development that allows graduates to be successful in deriving solutions to society’s most challenging technical problems. The program culminates in the defense of an original research thesis.
