The Department of Art at Arkansas State University will provide an educational environment that fosters the creation and understanding of art. Students in art develop insight, sensitivity, and perception toward all aspects of nature while building individual expressive responses. Aesthetic and functional values, creative ideas, and media skills are developed through instructional guidance and applied experience in the studio and classroom.

Learning Outside the Classroom

Why the BFA?
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs are designed to prepare students for professional careers as a classroom art teacher, graphic designer, or studio artist. The BFA in Art (with emphasis in Studio Art or Art Education) is the initial professional degree, and it is the requisite degree for the student who plans to pursue a studio-oriented post-baccalaureate degree

The Arkansas State University MBA Program is a professional degree program designed to prepare students of all educational and professional backgrounds for management positions in all types of organizations. As such, the program stresses the development of analytical, problem-solving and decision making competencies for the dynamic, complex global organizational and social environments.

Finance - Concentration
The MBA with a Concentration in Finance is designed to allow students to complement their studies in business administration with in-depth coverage of the core components of ?nance, including corporate ?nance, ?nancial markets and institutions, and investments. Students will complete the 27 hours within the MBA core and 9 additional hours of graduate level ?nance coursework.

This degree emphasizes composition or performance, depending on concentration area.

Composition - Concentration
Students with a concentration in composition will demonstrate achievement of the highest possible level of skill in the use of basic concepts, tools, techniques, and procedures to develop a composition from concept to finished product. This involves the competency to work with both electronic and acoustic media; work with a variety of forms, styles, and notations; and apply principles of scoring appropriate to particular compositions.

Healthcare Management - Concentration
The MBA with a Concentration in Healthcare Management is designed to allow students to complement their studies in business administration with in-depth coverage of the core components of the healthcare administration arena and the unique issues and challenges facing healthcare organizations in the dynamic healthcare industry. Students will complete the 24 hours of the MBA core and 15 hours of graduate level courses in Healthcare Administration.

The Radiologic Sciences Programs are administered by the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. The program is designed to produce Radiologic Science professionals who are clinically competent, advanced level radiologic sciences practitioners. The program is a "1 plus 1" model, meaning all students begin their sophomore year in radiography, then choose one of six "tracks" for their senior year.

Mammography / Breast Sonography
Provides students with the skills necessary to operate specialized mammography and sonography equipment, as well as assist in invasive procedures, such as biopsies.

The M.S.E. degree in Social Science is rooted in a solid core of History and Social Science, along with 9 credit hours in Education.

The B.S. degree in Sport Management is designed to prepare future professionals the needed knowledge, skills and experiences interested in careers in intercollegiate and professional athletics organizations, sport facility management (arenas/stadiums), campus and community recreation programs, sports information/public relations, sport marketing and management agencies, sport news media, and sport merchandise. This is a fast-paced, challenging, highly regarded, behind-the-scenes, managerial, professional field that requires students to have the academic background, management experience, communication abilities, and leadership qualities to be successful.

The Civil Engineering Programs at Arkansas State University are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.  Civil engineering is the application of math, science, and engineering fundamentals for the benefit of society and the supporting infrastructure systems.

Civil engineers are involved in the following areas:

• Environmental Engineering (pollution control including the design of water and waste water facilities)

Civil Engineering at A-State
The civil engineering program of ASU offers courses in all areas of civil engineering with a strong general education component. The faculty is involved in research, solving engineering problems in the community, consulting work. These experiences are brought into the classroom so students receive a well-rounded educational experience. This includes learning the engineering theory as well as the practical application of the theory to real world problems.
