Overview
The CSULB Speech-Language Pathology M.A. Program is a cohort-based program to be completed in five (5) semesters (Fall and Spring only), which include a semester of school-based internship and a semester of medical/private practice internship.
Students who successfully complete the CSULB SLP master's program are eligible for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), California State License in Speech-Language Pathology, and California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential (SLPSC).

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design is comprised of 132 semester units. The program provides a framework within which students can fully immerse themselves in a critical examination of then social, cultural, and environmental awareness while giving visual form to their investigations. It supports opportunities for employment in the practice of Interior Design; in addition it helps prepare those who are interested in continuing on with a Masters degree or wish to pursue teaching. A diverse curriculum of lecture and studio courses develops the student's cognitive ability to analyze design challenges of a complex nature. Issues of graphic communication, project analysis, programming, space planning, design and selection of interior components are presented in a logical sequence. Instruction emphasizes the three-dimensional possibilities of sculpting interior space, from conceptual ideas. The courses include lectures, demonstrations, and critiques of works-in-progress. Professional designers and educators from outside the department visit regularly to lecture and review student projects.

Master of Arts in History
CSULB’S Masters degree in history is ideal for students planning to pursue Ph.Ds, for secondary teachers, for professionals seeking a graduate degree, and for lifelong learners.
Our graduates have gone on to doctoral programs at Princeton, Yale, Cornell, UCLA, University of London, University of California at Santa Barbara, and University of California at San Diego among others. Other graduates are successful secondary teachers and community college faculty, and professionals working in government, real estate, business, and the National Park Service.
This five-semester program offers students close contact with faculty mentors, rigorous training in historical methods (critical analysis, synthesis and writing), and an opportunity to tailor their programs to pursue specific interests in U.S., European, World History, and Ancient and Medieval History.

Master of Science Civil Engineering in Construction Management
The Construction Management specialization within the MSCE program requires completion of 30 units of graduate courses, as specified below. Each student's program must satisfy all requirements of the university, college, and department, and contain the equivalent of 10 or more units of design, as determined by the department's graduate coordinator. During the first two weeks of the first semester as a graduate student at CSULB, the student should make an appointment to meet with the graduate coordinator, who will assign him/her to one of the construction management area faculty.

Master of Music in Music - Composition Concentration
Students in this program write works for the full range of traditional acoustic instruments, from solo works to ones for large orchestra, as well as for various electronic resources, working constantly to refine their own compositional voice under the guidance of the composition faculty. The program offers many courses for advanced study, with recent offerings including seminars focused on computer notation, Max/MSP/Jitter, art song composition, Schenkerian theory, and composition informed by music outside of the classical tradition (including influences from rock, jazz, and non-Western traditions). Students in the program have written works for readings and workshops by the BCCM Symphony Orchestra, the BCCM Wind Symphony, Kronos Quartet, the Friction String Quartet, and many other resident and guest ensembles.

This option is for students preparing to teach mathematics at the secondary school level. Completion of this option meets subject matter competence requirements for the Single Subject Teaching Credential Mathematics. Consult the department’s Mathematics Education Advisor early to plan the program.
Students majoring in the B.S. in Mathematics (all options) who would like an enriched academic program that includes a thesis may complete the Honors in the Major program described here.
May also complete General Honors through the University Honors Program, in which case the thesis requirement may be met through the Honors in the Major.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Arts - Illustration/Animation
Illustration
Students in this track will take a series of courses to help them develop skills for the field of illustration. Professional illustrators create work for a wide variety of applications. Some examples are: editorial work for magazines and newspapers, comics and graphic novels, textiles/clothing and the home and gift market, technical and biomedical illustration, entertainment (storyboards and visual development) and advertising. Students will focus on building their skills in drawing, painting and conceptualizing to create strong work geared towards their area of interest using their particular strengths.
Animation
Students in this track will focus specifically on creating a body of work involving moving images. Examples include: a traditional hand-drawn animation reel, a 3D digital animation reel, an experimental animation reel (this refers to inventive non-traditional methods of animation using a variety of materials and methods, such as stop-motion animation), or a short animated film using any or all of the previously listed approaches. Students making a film will write, design, storyboard and animate their own film.
Pre-Production
Students in this track will focus specifically on building skills for working in the pre-production phase of film, television and game projects. Some examples of pre-production art are: character design, storyboards, background painting, layout, visual development (which usually involves the visualization through illustration of environments, props, etc. in the early stages of a project, such as a film, episodic TV/Cable/Internet, or games), digital modeling (building 3D models digitally of characters, props, vehicles, and sets). Students will take courses with assignments geared specifically to these goals.

Public Safety and Legal Studies
Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice
This program is designed to accommodate the needs of new college students, continuing students, transferring students, and experienced criminal justice practitioners.
Students intending to transfer from community colleges to this University are advised to complete general education requirements while attending the community college. Courses equivalent to CRJU 101 and two of the following three lower-division cognate courses (SOC 100, PSY 100, and POSC 100) should be taken while attending community college. Other criminology and criminal justice courses taken at community colleges will be accepted as lower-division electives provided the college where they were taken designated them as transferable to CSU. These courses cannot be substituted for upper-division criminology and criminal justice courses.
