The Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) program prepares graduates to work with individuals, families, groups, communities, and organisations within medical and behavioral health settings, with a special focus on military populations. The Master of Social Work program at UWF develops advanced practitioners who can demonstrate clinical and critical thinking skills necessary to assist clients in a broad range of dilemmas and settings.

The Construction Management program provides students with foundational experiences and knowledge in both the commercial and residential construction sectors. The program’s focus on teaching ensures that students become proficient in the skills they will need to compete in a competitive job market.  Students will study a variety of construction methods and techniques, planning and layout, site preparation, building materials, building codes, and construction safety. Students will also learn about contracting, scheduling and business management. Coursework provides students with applied learning and field experiences in face-to-face and online learning environments.

The B.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities program affords students the opportunity to select one of two specializations: Arts Administration or Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Students should note that courses taken for the chosen discipline may not be used to complete the requirements for additional majors or minors.

Students in Arts Administration will gain a broad understanding of the various administrative functions within any arts organization. These functions include but are not limited to Marketing, Fundraising and Management. The student also receives intensive training in the chosen artistic discipline including Art & Design, Music or Theatre. The program offers a solid foundation for either employment in a professional environment or additional graduate study in Arts Administration.

The mission of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is to offer undergraduate and graduate programs of excellence in engineering that serve the needs of the West Florida region, the state, and the nation. The goal of these programs is to prepare students for a successful professional career in their respective chosen discipline of study. All programs shall be revised continuously to improve quality and respond to current workforce needs.

The Electrical Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET.  ABET is the recognized accreditor for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology and is among the most respected accreditation organizations in the United States.

The program’s educational objectives are to ensure:

• Graduates of the program will be successful in the professional practice of engineering or related fields and will advance in their chosen careers.
• Graduates of the program will be successful in pursuing advanced degrees in engineering or related fields.

Electrical Engineering is science-oriented and primarily concerned with all phases and development of the transmission and utilization of electric energy and intelligence. Because of the extremely rapid growth and changes relating to the application of electrical engineering principles, the curriculum is designed to concentrate on a solid core of foundation courses. Twelve hours of electives are included to permit a student to delve deeply into selected subject matter.

The Biomedical Sciences degree is designed to prepare students who have the goal of admission to post-graduate health professional schools. The degree is designed to fulfill the prerequisites required for students pursuing advanced degrees in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant, biomedical sciences, etc.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre at the University of West Florida attracts students wanting to chase their dreams of bright lights and standing ovations. A pre-professional degree in performance or stagecraft, this program is teeming with opportunities to hone your craft, gain hands-on experience and build a foundation to jumpstart your career on or behind the stage.

Music Theatre
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre provides students with a hands-on, personalized education. Students work closely in classes and on stage with faculty who provide training and experience to accelerate students to a professional level. This program affords the opportunity for you to hone your craft with industry professionals.

Acting
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting degree provides students with a core curriculum that is challenging, dynamic, and relevant to today's professional theatre world.

Design/Technology
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and Technology provides students with an interactive program that prepares them for careers in scenic, lighting, and costume design and the technology skills that support each field.

The Department of Computer Science offers several graduate programs that provide instruction on a variety of modern topics in data analytics, software engineering, parallel and distributed computing, and cybersecurity giving graduates the edge to be highly competitive in today's IT job market.

With one of the most affordable tuition plans in Florida and state-of-the-art facilities, our Computer Science Master's program offers cutting-edge curricula and learning environments, with professionally-oriented, hands-on study material.

The department annually awards several scholarships, fellowships, and out-of-state tuition waivers to new and returning students. The Exercise Science major is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in the fitness industry, cardiac rehabilitation, clinically-related health fields, and graduate school. The program has specific courses (APK 4125 Exercise Testing and Prescription, APK 4114C Physiological Basis of Strength Development) that prepare students for certifications such as the ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM EP-C) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (NSCA CSCS). The course work precedes a capstone course that allows students to receive valuable work experience just prior to graduating. The University of West Florida’s undergraduate degree program in Exercise Science is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and addresses the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) needed to pass the ACSM Exercise Physiologist-Certified exam. The curriculum is endorsed by the NSCA for meeting their recommended educational guidelines.

The B.S.B.A. in Business Economics is for students interested in economics as it applies to business and government organizations. The program provides students with a comprehensive view of the area of economics in business, allowing them to apply a set of analytical tools to understand the interrelations between the economy and the business environment under different market conditions.

Economics majors develop technical and analytical skills needed for policy oriented decisions in local and global markets, often based on analysis of fundamental resource allocations issues. Economists work in a broad range of areas that include in-depth inquiries, including the following: business strategy (Should we expand into a new market?); societal policies (What is the best way to fight environmental pollution?); and global issues (What rules should govern trade among nations?). Further inquires are conducted into how trade is affected by the elimination of tariffs and quotas. Students in the B.S.B.A. in Economics actively participate in small projects, such as data analysis and forecasting, intended to provide them with hands-on experience in managerial decision making. Specific topics include healthcare, crime, finance, production, international trade, labor, taxation, politics, the environment, pricing strategies, regulation and deregulation, data analysis and forecasting, and many others.

Many Economics graduates choose to attend graduate school, thereby enhancing their career opportunities. A major in Economics provides outstanding preparation for the M.B.A. degree, and an Economics degree is regarded as an excellent background to study Law or to pursue a Master’s in Economics.

Economics students may choose from the following specializations: Comprehensive Economics and Global Economics.

A minor in marketing will provide you with a broad introduction to marketing, accounting and economics. Available for non-business majors, a minor in marketing applications provides you with the professional marketing skills and knowledge necessary for positions in business.
