The Interior Design major prepares students to design innovative, functional, supportive and responsible interior environments that positively impact the quality of life. The curriculum develops students' skills and knowledge in color and design, drafting, space planning, building and interior systems, materials and finishes, historical interiors, building and barrier-free codes, and Auto-CAD. The needs of special populations and the mandates that regulate the field of interior design are emphasized.

Illinois State's Interior Design program is accredited by the Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). This prepares students for entry-level Interior Design practice, for advanced study, and to apply for membership in professional Interior Design organizations. The BS or BA in Interior Design granted by Illinois State University meets the educational requirement for eligibility to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification Examination (NCIDQ Exam). 

The organizational leadership sequence helps students develop those skills and aptitudes necessary for success and leadership positions in business and not-for-profit organizations in the 21st century. The development of one's skills working with people and groups as well as decision making is at the focus of this program of study. Since the sequence focuses on these people skills and decision-making abilities, it is applicable to a wide or general range of companies and managers.

Organizational leadership concentrates on the knowledge and skill development to become an effective manager. Coursework provides theoretical, experiential and practical knowledge and skills relative to problem solving, decision making, behavior of people and groups in organizations, teamwork, managerial philosophy and style, organizational design, culture, and change as well as related topics.

Actuarial Science
The Actuarial Program at Illinois State University is a Center for Actuarial Excellence, one of the first nine academic programs in the United States to receive that recognition in 2009, and the first one in the State of Illinois. Mathematics - Statistics
Statistics is the science and art of making inferences from data, under conditions of uncertainty. Geography Social Science Teacher Education
Geography social science educators use their expertise to engage students in the global world. You’ll teach students about the people, places, environments, regions, and current events that shape human lives. You’ll also give students the tools they need to be productive, global citizens.

Health and Human Performance
Exercise Science is the study of movement and the associated functional responses and adaptations the body makes as a result of movement/exercise.

The Health and Human Performance (HHP) sequence gives you a well-rounded foundation in areas of Exercise Science, including physiology, biomechanics, and sports psychology. HHP also studies how different exercises and fitness programs affect the human body.

Art - Graphic Design
Graphic Design at Illinois State fosters a collaborative environment engaging you with print and emerging digital media. Our program prepares you to contribute to positive change for the betterment of society.

Students graduating from the Graphic Design program can pursue successful careers in client-based design or self-initiated research. You'll have opportunities to work at design studios, advertising agencies, and diverse corporations or institutions.

Our alumni continue to be a part of the Wonsook Kim School of Art after graduation and we continue to harness professional relationships and networking connections between them and our current students through social media and CrossPlatform, the Graphic Design student club.

We offer three programs in Graphic Design: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA).

Recreation and Park Administration - Recreation Management
Recreation Management professionals plan, organize, and lead experiences for people with diverse backgrounds and interests. Experiences range from sports and crafts, to camping and other special interests. They also work in a variety of settings including parks, sport facilities, community centers, retirement villages, camps, and tourism attractions.

Students in this major put theory into practice by completing two internships. There are also opportunities to attend conferences, participate in clubs, and study abroad. These experiences help students develop a professional network.

Faculty in Recreation Management have won awards for teaching, research, and service. They also conduct and publish research as well as write industry-leading textbooks.

As a student in our program, you'll sharpen and further develop your skills. You'll also get a deeper perspective of the criminal justice field.

Our program is designed to give you the tools you need to advance in the field and be a stand out for competitive positions. The theories and principles we cover in the classroom can be applied to your current or future role in the field.

Overall, you'll gain a better understanding of policing, courts, and corrections. We study how each entity functions and operates. We also examine how they relate to each other, society, and the world.

Classes in our graduate program are small. This lets you work closely with other professionals and students. You'll engage in meaningful discussions on all the challenges and interesting topics in the criminal justice arena. This gives you a unique academic experience and introduces you to different perspectives.
