Food studies is a rapidly growing field in North America as the demand increases for experts in food-related policy, food justice and food culture. Students in this new Bachelor of Arts program (offered in collaboration with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) prepare to become change-makers in the world's food system through an interdisciplinary approach to examining food in all its dimensions: cultural, economic, health and environmental. Tucson is an ideal setting for food studies; it recently earned the coveted honor of a UNESCO City of Gastronomy and was the first city in the U.S. to gain the designation.

Learn how animals, science and business work together to further industry, education, and environmental and human health. The Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences with an Animal Industry emphasis takes an interdisciplinary approach to educating students on how business and animal science pair in industries such as dairy production, food safety, research, marketing and more. Coursework includes business law and accounting and marketing principles, as well as science-based classes such as microbiology and physiology. The Animal Industry emphasis enables students to tailor the degree to their interests by allowing them five major elective courses in the following areas: Animal and Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Natural Resources, Agricultural & Resource Economics, and Molecular and Cellular Biology. Faculty and mentors associated with the program challenge students to apply their studies to address real-world challenges in the animal industry and agribusiness.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science offers an emphasis in Soil, Air and Water. Students who opt for this track gain a broad scientific understanding of human influence on the natural world, from the molecular level to a global scale. Through work in classrooms, in labs and in the field, students learn how to properly collect soil, water and air samples, identify and implement appropriate analytical techniques, and interpret results. They also gain a deeper understanding of how environmental systems sustain climate, purify water, provide food and fiber, and remediate pollution.

Your interest in science, technology, big data and analytics can contribute to solving the natural resources, food, energy and health challenges of the future. A Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Analytics and Technology prepares students for careers at the intersection of science, technology and analytics. Coursework focuses on combining biological, physical and data sciences with technology and helping students apply these tools to real-world environmental, ecological, biological and human challenges. Career opportunities range from precision agriculture and remote sensing to data mining and statistical informatics.

The Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science equips students to design, implement and test programs that solve significant and meaningful problems. Students learn how to collaborate to develop large software systems and can explain the purpose, design and implementation of programs. Graduates are able to design and analyze algorithms and can evaluate the correctness and performance of computer programs. To earn this B.A., students must start as Pre-computer Science majors and complete a core set of classes. No application is required to progress from Pre-computer Science to Computer Science. The B.A. curriculum requires students to study a second language proficiency and take natural science courses.

Master the art and science of working with people and leading in a business world that hinges on strategy and decision-making with a Business Management major. The Business Management major at the University of Arizona is designed for students seeking managerial positions in large or small organizations. Students learn how to work with people in the areas of  hiring, training and coordinating. They also develop the foundation for becoming a manager of a business or organizational unit. Students seeking their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Business Management must complete the Pre-Business curriculum to earn professional admissions status to the University of Arizona's esteemed Eller College of Business Management. Business Management majors with an interest in working in sports can choose the Sports Management minor or certificate program.

The program provides instruction in the languages, cultures, and civilizations of East Asia (China, Japan, and Korea); Asian humanities and religions; and Asian-American studies. Individual programs may emphasize the language, linguistics, literature, history, thought, religion, and society (ancient or modern) of more than one cultural area (China, Japan, or Korea). Students may specialize in the East Asian region or one or more discipline-focused studies of East Asian subjects. Advanced study of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean is required.

Majoring in World Literature exposes you to a variety of languages and cultures, providing a solid foundation for careers in industries locally or abroad. Students earning their Bachelor of Arts in World Literature gain advanced proficiency in at least one language other than English while cultivating cross-cultural literacy. An immersion in ancient and modern literature from a variety of regions broadens students' understanding of the human condition and the ideas and concepts that foster global connection. The B.A. in World Literature is a collaboration between the university's College of Humanities and College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The major sets students up for careers in media, tourism, international business and other positions for which well-rounded, empathetic individuals are in high demand.
