Global Studies teaches students to think critically about global issues from a variety of disciplines. This Bachelor of Arts uses intellectual and experiential frameworks to empower students to analyze, communicate, problem-solve and empathize. The Literature Arts and Film emphasis educates future leaders of the new global society, a role that requires a high level of intercultural and multilingual competence. Students discover the critical part that cultural production plays in the international landscape and equips them with the skills to shape that landscape. Students become adaptable to unfamiliar environments and are able to assess cultural differences in professional settings and communicate well with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Become a leader in historic preservation and learn about the importance of heritage conservation to preserve and create more sustainable built environments.Students in the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments program with a Heritage Conservation Emphasis explore the value of historic structures and landscapes and the reasons for preserving and adapting them. The faculty bring a breadth of experience and depth of expertise to coursework, teaching students how the preservation and adaptation of historic structures advances environmental, cultural and economic sustainability. Students learn the processes and protocols of conservation as well as current issues in historic preservation and resource management. Graduates are prepared for careers as managers at nonprofit organizations, leaders of government agencies, and consultants in heritage conservation and historic preservation.

The materials science and engineering degree program immerses you in hands-on study geared to discovering materials for products and technology, and finding new ways to use and improve existing ones. Materials science engineers research, design and develop polymers, metals, ceramics, composites, and other natural and synthetic materials to advance fields such as energy, health care, aerospace and defense. Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering work directly with the materials they study through smelting, composite manufacturing and glassblowing labs. Undergraduates gain research experience in the University of Arizona's world-renowned centers such as the Arizona Materials Lab and the Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy and through interdisciplinary design projects. Careers for materials science engineers are linked to every field of engineering and science.

Take a deep dive into the human psyche of this program analyzes people's motivations, the role of power and the effects of change in historical and contemporary societies. The goal for the General Studies program with an emphasis in Social, Behavioral and Human Understanding is to provide students with a strong base for looking at the social systems of individuals and societies. This Bachelor of General Studies helps students examine multiple perspectives on social and cultural change, and teaches them to assess the strengths and weaknesses of conflicting points of view. Students not only develop an appreciation of, and sensitivity to, differences between individuals from various economic, political, religious, cultural, ethnic and social backgrounds, but they also learn to think clearly about complex problems and employ creative innovation when finding solutions.

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with the Ethics emphasis trains students to approach philosophical exploration with the rigor of analytic thinking, which goes beyond casual discussions based on opinion. Philosophy majors critically examine questions such as, ""How can I know for sure if what I believe is true?"" ""What sort of society is best?"" or ""Is morality whatever society says it is?"" In scrutinizing potential answers, students hone the skills of critical thinking, problem-solving, conceptual analysis and argumentation. Students learn how to look at the big picture, stay open-minded and always seek truth.

Food systems is the study of the food supply chain, which includes production, processing, distribution, and consumption as well as waste. Drivers of the food system include culture, economics, policy, and marketing, and the collective impact on outcomes including human and environmental health, food insecurity, and community food security. The Nutrition and Food Systems degree is an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complexities of the food system from production to consumption and impact on human health, as well as challenges faced by the food system to develop sustainable solutions for producing, processing, delivering, and consuming safe, culturally desirable, nutritious, and economically and environmentally sustainable food. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is committed to training emerging leaders who will address grand challenges facing humanity, including management and preservation of precious and finite natural resources, and finding solutions to feed over 9 billion people by 2050.

The Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Harp emphasis invites students to study with peers from across the globe. At the Fred Fox School of Music, students enjoy close interaction with the esteemed faculty, all of whom are artists in their own right and who've performed at the world's greatest concert halls and received numerous accolades as musicians. Students can audition for the Harp Studio, which offers weekly private lessons, a studio class, the study of harp pedagogy, orchestral coaching, mock auditions and master classes with guest artists. Students can take advantage of opportunities to arrange, compose, record and tour with HarpFusion. Upon graduation, students are equipped for roles as performing artists, teachers, administrators and music scholars.

Immerse yourself in the Spanish language while learning various cultures through the ages via Hispanic the Literature emphasis. Students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Hispanic Literature emphasis will take language courses in both Spanish and Portuguese while studying Hispanic literature. Outside of the classroom, students hone their Spanish language conversation skills in Spanish Club or their Portuguese-speaking skills in Bate Papo. Various study abroad programs through the University of Arizona provide Spanish majors the opportunity for additional language and cultural immersion, adding to their undergraduate experience.
