Energy-efficient structures will be the buildings of the future. Combine your passion for sustainability and love of architecture for a career in this burgeoning field. Students pursuing an emphasis in Sustainable Buildings within the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments program explore the science and practice the techniques behind building energy efficiency. Hands-on coursework includes such topics as climate-responsive design, net-zero energy design, energy conservation, passive solar design and natural ventilation systems. In this interdisciplinary program, students learn how to analyze existing and planned structures and use critical-thinking skills and solutions-based strategies to create workable plans to make those buildings more efficient. Students graduate with a practical understanding of sustainability principles and expertise in built environment policy and design.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Plant Systems has four tracks; students in the Fresh Produce Safety track advance the latest methods for maintaining the safety of food one of the most important resources on Earth. In this Yuma-based program, students discover how production chains become contaminated with diseases, and learn Good Agricultural Practices for the harvest of leafy greens and fresh-vegetable food safety. Coursework provides insight into food safety issues, field risk assessments, facility sanitation and inspection processes. Students gain real-life experience in the applications of soil, water and plant sciences, including soil chemistry, plant nutrition and hydroponics.

Whether it's classical, jazz, marching or mariachi, the Fred Fox School of Music provides a wealth of performance opportunities for trumpet students. Those seeking their Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Trumpet emphasis hone their skills by taking private lessons with trumpet professors who are active performers. Students also participate in the school's orchestras, wind bands, jazz ensembles, jazz combos and other chamber ensembles. Core requirements include classes in music literature, piano, conducting and history. Several jazz offerings such as improvisation and arranging are offered for all music students.

Food systems is the study of the food supply chain, which includes production, processing, distribution, and consumption as well as waste. Drivers of the food system include culture, economics, policy, and marketing, and the collective impact on outcomes including human and environmental health, food insecurity, and community food security. The Nutrition and Food Systems degree is an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complexities of the food system from production to consumption and impact on human health, as well as challenges faced by the food system to develop sustainable solutions for producing, processing, delivering, and consuming safe, culturally desirable, nutritious, and economically and environmentally sustainable food.
