Examine intricate theories and conceptual understandings of global phenomenon from a multidisciplinary perspective and the first step to engaging in cross-cultural collaboration and conversation. Global Studies critically examines global issues, taking an intellectual and experiential approach to teaching students to analyze, communicate, problem-solve and empathize. Emerging global health problems require a new generation of innovative thinkers who can identify trends and assess intervention options. The Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with a Global Health and Development emphasis, adapted to real-world contingencies, prepares students to become these much-needed innovators. Coursework touches on topics from areas of study such as anthropology, geography, public health and regional studies to provide students with an understanding of global health priorities, as well as the history of health-related trends, priorities and intervention measures.

The Fred Fox School of Music brings together faculty and students in an environment where students receive an education in music technique and performance while enjoying personalized guidance and mentoring. Students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with an emphasis in Guitar take classes in instrument technique as well as practical courses in sound mixing and recording. Students attend concerts, workshops, lectures, clinics and master classes, many taught by visiting artists and scholars. Graduates embark on careers as performers and educators in a variety of fields.

Preschool and K-3 teachers help their students build a solid foundation to support them through future learning. Undergraduates seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Education in Early Childhood Education at the University of Arizona complete their program in just two years. Students earning a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Statistics and Data Science will have a solid foundation in mathematics. Yet they focus on the capture, maintenance, processing, analysis and communication of data through immersion in courses in probability, statistics, data science and computer programming. Undergraduates also must complete a minor outside the Department of Mathematics. The B.A. and B.S. allow students to pursue graduate degrees or careers in analytics, risk assessment, finance, and other math- and science-related fields.

Middle East and North African Studies employs an interdisciplinary approach to learning about all aspects of this region. The Bachelor of Arts focuses on instruction in the principal languages of the area (Arabic, Persian, Turkish and Hebrew) and includes coursework in religion, political science, history, literature, geography, sociology, archaeology, linguistics and architecture. Students seek degrees in this department out of a genuine interest in this part of the world, often on a professional path to government service, academics, a position in international business or as preparation for advanced study in this or other fields.

• Students who earn a BA in MENAS will be able to identify the major historical periods, figures, and movements that have shaped the Middle East and North Africa from 600 C.E. to the present.
• Students who earn a BA in MENAS will be able to compare and contrast the various social, cultural, religious, geographic and linguistic milieus of the Middle East and North Africa.
• Students who earn a BA in MENAS will be able to critically evaluate popular, political and/or media discussions of the Middle East and North Africa.
• Students who earn a BA in MENAS will be able to analyze and synthesize information from primary and secondary sources in order to develop and write a research paper.
• Students who earn a BA in MENAS will be able to achieve proficiency at the intermediate level in one of the languages of the Middle East and North Africa (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, or Turkish). Communicative proficiency is defined in accordance with the Standards for foreign language learning as developed by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). These are further analyzed below: i. To communicate in Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) languages, both orally and in writing, by engaging in interpersonal, interpretative, and presentational communication activities (Communication). ii. To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the MENA cultures through language activities such as written essays and oral presentations on cultural topics (Culture). iii. To make meaningful cross-cultural comparisons between two or more of the MENA cultures (Comparisons).

Students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with an emphasis in Euphonium can take advantage of the Fred Fox School of Music's two concert bands, a select wind ensemble, two jazz bands, numerous jazz combos and a large and challenging orchestra program. In addition to these performance opportunities, students benefit from personalized attention and instruction. This includes a weekly lesson, a studio class, daily warm-ups and technique classes, plus ensemble and chamber coaching. The School of Music averages between 450 and 550 students, which provides opportunities that are typically only offered at larger schools of music.

Are you a tuba fanatic? This Performance major helps you elevate your talent as you build a solid foundation in music education. Students wishing to earn their Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Tuba emphasis at the University of Arizona have the benefit of studying in the nationally lauded Fred Fox School of Music. Students audition for placement in a large conducted ensemble to fulfill credit requirements. The school boasts the Tuba-Euphonium Studio, featuring a variety of ensemble options and performance opportunities. Performance majors take 89 units of music courses, studying a mix of music literature, music history, pedagogy, orchestration, conducting, brass techniques and materials, and more. Graduates go on to fulfill teaching, performing and conducting roles nationally and abroad.

Food systems is the study of the food supply chain, which includes production, processing, distribution, and consumption as well as waste. Drivers of the food system include culture, economics, policy, and marketing, and the collective impact on outcomes including human and environmental health, food insecurity, and community food security. The Nutrition and Food Systems degree is an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complexities of the food system from production to consumption and impact on human health, as well as challenges faced by the food system to develop sustainable solutions for producing, processing, delivering, and consuming safe, culturally desirable, nutritious, and economically and environmentally sustainable food. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is committed to training emerging leaders who will address grand challenges facing humanity, including management and preservation of precious and finite natural resources, and finding solutions to feed over 9 billion people by 2050.
