The Jefferson Communication program prepares students for today’s media marketplace through a broad-based education that emphasizes storytelling, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and multimedia skills development.

Cytotechnologists are responsible for the study and evaluation of human cells sampled from all organs and body fluids. Professionals in this field have the skills to detect and interpret features representative of malignant and non-malignant diseases, including cancer, infectious disease, and autoimmune disorders. In addition to being experts in the microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens, cytotechnologists also select and perform molecular and immunologic tests necessary for development of personalized patient care.

You start collecting chemical knowledge and skills through core courses and shadowing faculty and upper-level student researchers. As a sophomore, you will start helping with authentic, real-world research projects – experience many biochemistry students don’t get until graduate programs. The M.S. in Textile Design at Thomas Jefferson University offers an integrated, collaborative and proven curriculum that blends aesthetic, creative skills with emerging technologies. In studios and classrooms, students turn innovative ideas into original products.

State-of-the-art facilities, including The Center for Excellence of Digital Printing, electronic jacquard and dobby looms, computerized knitting machines, and extensive computer-aided design laboratories enable students to put professional skills into practice. The Design studio courses make up the majority of the coursework in the MS program and design research is stressed from the beginning.

Graduate students select either knit, print or weave as their area of concentration and the courses are taught by active members of the textile design field: artists, design directors, authors and researchers. Visiting artists and guest lecturers expand the educational experience, bringing real-world applications to the classroom experience.
Partnerships with industry, nexus learning sponsored projects, national and international design competitions and exhibitions at international trade shows provide practical experience as students prepare for graduation.

The Jefferson Textile Design program is enhanced by study abroad opportunities and a strong internship program. The Animation & Digital Media program at Thomas Jefferson University connects students to the animation and digital media industries with the objective of becoming successful filmmakers as well as designers capable of applying skillsets to a wide range of industries which are increasingly in demand. The program offers a thorough understanding of animation fundamentals along with practical experience utilizing cutting-edge tools and techniques. What is Animation?
Animation is the process of combining design, storytelling and production to add life to many types of media. This can include animation for film, television, visual effects, websites, multimedia presentations, mobile applications and video games.

The Master of Science in Clinical Research was created to prepare students for the wide array of career opportunities in the clinical research industry. This program is well suited for career changers with a background in life, physical or clinical sciences that would like to break into the field of clinical research. It is also appropriate for individuals already in the industry and looking for additional graduate-level training.

The field of clinical research is rapidly expanding and knowledgeable professionals are needed to coordinate, manage, and administer clinical trials. This master of science degree will provide students with the foundation needed to be successful in the field of clinical research.

Students completing the MS in Clinical Research will:

• Understand the experimental design, statistical analysis and interpretation, and regulatory and ethical issues pertaining to human clinical research and trials.
• Be able to read, understand, and critique published reports of clinical trials.
• Acquire management skills that will enable them to successfully manage multi-disciplinary teams involved in clinical research projects.
• Be prepared for employment in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as academic and hospital clinical research settings.

The Finance Program at Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) prepares students to become professionals with a comprehensive understanding of global financial markets and financial institutions.

Our graduates are prepared with skills to tackle complex financial problems, and have the professionalism to work effectively in any environment. As a student in the program, you will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, participate in international competitions, manage an investment portfolio through our Student Managed Investment Fund, study abroad for a semester, and earn your iMBA degree in one additional year while preparing for the Chartered Financial Analyst Level I (CFA) exam.

The Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling MS program will provide students integrative education and training to become compassionate and knowledgeable genetic counselors.

Learning Outcomes

• Jefferson College of Life Sciences launched our MS program in Human Genetics & Genetic Counseling, in the Fall of 2017.  
• Employment of genetic counselors is projected to grow 21% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are only 48 graduate genetic counseling programs in the country.  Placement of a new genetic counseling program within the rich clinical and health science environment of the Jefferson enterprise would provide students significant competitive advantage.
