The Master of Science Program in Cell & Developmental Biology prepares its graduates for positions in research and development in academia, industry and government. Graduates may be employed as basic research scientists in academic institutions and industrial positions, or may go on to further study in PhD and professional doctoral programs.

This program consists of a core basic science curriculum in cell and developmental biology, supplemented with elective courses suited to individual career interests in the basic sciences or in management. Students in our program receive training in theoretical, experimental and practical aspects of normal cell development as well as abnormal aspects of these processes, which may cause birth defects or disease.
The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Flexibility is the key.

One of our strengths is our close-knit community, and that is by design. Faculty work closely with all VDC students as they progress through a series of 8 core design studios. This begins with design foundations, and progresses through courses in typography, user experience, branding, digital strategy, systems design, and culminates with a self-authored, senior design capstone project and portfolio.

The program provides training in a diverse combination of skills, including a strong understanding of design principles, typography and image making, the capacity to plan and design for human-centered products, interactions and experiences, an ability to harness the latest digital technologies and experience working in collaborative interdisciplinary environments.

These educational experiences are enhanced through our faculty’s expertise, industry and client sponsored projects, internships, guest speakers, workshops, studio visits, study abroad opportunities, and minors.

Through experience in a variety of liberal arts and professional methodologies, you will become a skilled researcher and thinker who not only knows where to look for information but also is able to assess how to apply disciplinary strengths in innovative ways to a variety of existing and emerging professions.

The Master of Science in Microbiology & Immunology Program offers choices for career specialization with flexible schedules, professional training for academic credit and academic preparation for national professional certification.

The broad-based curriculum includes a minimum of 40 credits. Course content includes:

The Jefferson Communication program prepares students for today’s media marketplace through a broad-based education that emphasizes storytelling, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and multimedia skills development.

The program tailors itself to the unique career goals of each student, and provides the key skills necessary to transition into new areas of communications, as the marketplace continues to change and grow.

Cytotechnologists are responsible for the study and evaluation of human cells sampled from all organs and body fluids. Professionals in this field have the skills to detect and interpret features representative of malignant and non-malignant diseases, including cancer, infectious disease, and autoimmune disorders. In addition to being experts in the microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens, cytotechnologists also select and perform molecular and immunologic tests necessary for development of personalized patient care.

We investigate issues and institutions through the lenses of law, sociology, criminology, psychology, ethics, economics, culture, science, history, politics and political science. We build critical thinking skills and communications skills while we effectively debate. We actively examine legal systems, courts and conceptions of justice and human rights within both the American and international contexts. We examine and discover the reliable evidence while weeding through the false narratives and fake news

The groundbreaking M.S. in International Fashion Design Management program is developed to create the next generation of fashion professionals for a complex global fashion system. Students are invited to create their own path, and customize the experience to focus on different tracks with global opportunities right at their fingertips. By moving beyond the hand-crafted approach to fashion, students will have the opportunity to focus on design as a strategic function, integrated along the cycle of research and design, product development, branding and distribution.

This 30-credit degree offers flexible hybrid and virtual components. During the final semester, students participate in an outbound experience, which is student led and faculty advised to allow students to research and study in any region in the world. Students select a mentor and location, and determine the length of their stay in that region to offer more flexibility. During the final semester, participants create a project that demonstrates topic mastery through synthesis of knowledge and skills inspired from their previous coursework.

Thomas Jefferson University’s Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) is a five-year professional degree program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Students receive an industry-centered, liberal arts-infused education, blending academic scholarship with hands-on, professional learning. The program encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, and most of our faculty members are practicing industry professionals. The four-year Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (B.S.) program allows students to focus on a field allied to the profession of architecture. After common first-year studios that lay the foundation for visual thinking, students will select two minors based upon their areas of academic and professional interest. The College of Architecture and the Built Environment offers an array of minors that allow Architectural Studies students to customize their education and earn a degree with a pre-professional design emphasis with a liberal arts focus. Opportunities exist for collaborative studios, fieldwork, study abroad options, professional internships and elective offerings.

Contemporary architecture encompasses a number of discrete, though intersecting, disciplines and requires individuals trained to fill a variety of roles beyond that of designer. The College of Architecture and the Built Environment offers an array of minors to allow students to customize their education and earn a degree with a pre-professional design emphasis and a liberal arts focus. Options range from areas that are intrinsic to making and constructing buildings and environments, such as building technology, to fields that support the rehabilitation and documentation of architecture and sites, such as historic preservation.
