The MS Program in Forensic Biology is an exclusive program designed to position students for advancement and professional development in the specific field of forensic biology.

This is a full-time, two-year program with courses taught at both the Jefferson Center City campus as well as at The Center for Forensic Science Research & Education laboratory in Willow Grove, PA.  One of the aspects which sets our forensic biology program apart from other universities is that students will be working adjacent to a fully-functioning, ISO-17025 accredited, private DNA laboratory. Instead of spending the duration of the program in a classroom, Jefferson  students will be learning within an actual forensic laboratory and working alongside practicing scientists who serve as faculty and mentors. This teaching setting allows our students to engage first-hand in crime lab operation, offering an unparalleled educational experience.

Our specialized program will provide students with expertise in all areas of forensic biology, including:

• Serological Identification of Biological Fluids & Tissues
• Forensic DNA Analysis & Interpretation
• Molecular Biology & Genetics

Another unique aspect of our program is the highly focused curriculum specifically tailored to focus on the biological aspects of the forensic sciences. Our program allows access to the same instrumentation currently used in the nation’s top crime labs, a guaranteed internship, career readiness training, and business management and leadership coursework to help prepare future leaders in forensic science.  Overall, the curricular content more than exceeds the requirements set forth by the Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories which require 12 undergraduate and graduate credits on topics including biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and statistics for laboratory technical leaders.

The Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management prepares individuals for in demand entry-level management positions in today’s complex and evolving healthcare system. The Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences prepares graduates for positions as clinical laboratory managers, consultants, research associates and research scientists in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry or medical toxicology.

Graduates of the program have been accepted into PhD and professional doctoral programs.
The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Jefferson’s M.S. in Geospatial Technology for Geodesign leverages GIS and advanced geospatial technologies in identifying and finding innovative solutions to urban design and urban planning problems. Emphasizing GIS-based tools, 3D parametric design and modeling, sustainable design approaches, collaboration and innovation within an integrated process, this STEM-designated graduate program is intended to empower students to find resilient solutions to 21st century urban challenges resulting from population growth, decreasing resources, natural disasters, and climate change. Geodesign is sustainability in practice, and our graduates are leaders in this innovative field.

Geospatial technology for geodesign students are directly involved in collaborative applied research projects with industry partners, state and federal agencies, and community partnerships. They work with advanced technologies including parametric 3D modeling, spatial data collection using emerging technologies such as LiDAR, UAVs (drones), UAV-based photogrammetry, advanced geospatial mobile applications, and BIM while they help develop and test new tools that inform future industry software. Graduates possess highly sought-after GIS skills and are well prepared for dynamic careers in interdisciplinary firms, state and federal agencies, NGOs, academia and more.

The MS in Geospatial Technology for Geodesign is a 36-credit post professional degree open to those interested in GIS and the allied design disciplines: architecture, landscape architecture, planning and engineering, as well as students with backgrounds or interest in GIS. Classes are offered on a full-time or part-time basis and are held in the evenings and Saturdays in order to meet the needs of our professional students.

The Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling MS program will provide students integrative education and training to become compassionate and knowledgeable genetic counselors.

Learning Outcomes

• Jefferson College of Life Sciences launched our MS program in Human Genetics & Genetic Counseling, in the Fall of 2017.  
• Employment of genetic counselors is projected to grow 21% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are only 48 graduate genetic counseling programs in the country.  Placement of a new genetic counseling program within the rich clinical and health science environment of the Jefferson enterprise would provide students significant competitive advantage.

The M.S. in Interior Architecture is a 49 or 69-credit graduate program structured to meet the needs of students from both non-design, design and architecture backgrounds seeking one of the best professional-level education in interior design/interior architecture. The program offers up to one year of advanced standing for those already in the field who are interested in refining their knowledge and skills at the graduate level. This program prepares students to reach their full potential, whether seeking an introduction or building on previous experience.

As an Interior Architecture program, we emphasize how the interior environment encompasses all parts of the interior volume and acknowledges the intersection between architecture and interiors. The curriculum integrates theory with the technical skills needed for practical application and immerses students in current technologies and sustainable practice as they work collaboratively and think critically to discover innovative solutions. Jefferson’s campus is positioned minutes from downtown, offering networking and employment opportunities within the city’s thriving architecture industry. The Master of Science in Microbiology & Immunology Program offers choices for career specialization with flexible schedules, professional training for academic credit and academic preparation for national professional certification.

In our stimulating and supportive environment, you will build a strong foundation in sciences and humanities, preparing you for success in upper-division courses in Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences.

As a student in this program, you will complete two years of pre-professional coursework with other pre-medical and health students on Jefferson’s East Falls Campus. In late fall of your second year, you will interview and begin the process of working with faculty to select concentrations in the medical imaging and radiation sciences professional program. Students who interview and maintain progression criteria are guaranteed to matriculate into the professional phase. Jefferson’s academic advisors and faculty work closely with our students on course selection and academic performance to ensure that each student is on pace to transition into the professional phase of the program.

The Jefferson Communication program prepares students for today’s media marketplace through a broad-based education that emphasizes storytelling, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and multimedia skills development.
