The University of South Florida offers a four year program leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. The first three years are completed on campus; the fourth year (12 months) is completed at one of three affiliated hospitals in Florida, located in Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Jacksonville. Admission to the fourth year is limited by the number of openings in affiliated hospitals and, at the present time, is competitive. Selection for the clinical program is made by the hospitals and students not admitted to a clinical program will need to select an alternate degree. Generally, hospitals require a minimum GPA of 2.50 to a 2.75, and our students admitted to clinical programs in recent years have had a mean GPA of 3.4 or higher. Students successfully completing this program will be granted a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology.

The Major provides the experience and knowledge to understand and appreciate prior accomplishments in the discipline and develop the skills necessary for a meaningful contribution to the intellectual advancement and applications of the discipline.   It prepares its graduates to pursue long-term careers in their field by providing solid and cutting-edge knowledge, as well as a technical education enabling them to take on leading positions in a modern economy.

The M.S. in Exercise Science provides and in-depth study of applied human physiology and how it relates to athletic performance and health and wellness. The purpose of the program is to prepare fitness professionals that are equipped to meet the needs of adults in their pursuit of improved health and performance. Exercise science professionals work with adults in leadership positions in areas such as strength & conditioning, worksite health promotion, commercial and community fitness/wellness, hospital/clinical rehabilitation, personal fitness training, and sports performance. In addition, graduates of this program will have the educational background to pursue doctoral education and other advanced degree programs. The major offers three optionsExercise Science, Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning, and Exercise Science with a concentration in Health & Wellness.

Marketing-M.S.
The Master of Science in Marketing is a 30-34 credit hour specialized graduate degree. For the professional currently employed in marketing, it offers the opportunity to enhance overall knowledge, skills, and abilities. Students can choose an area of emphasis in marketing analytics, or digital marketing and brand management. The MS in Marketing offers sufficient preparation to qualify the graduate for adjunct teaching in community colleges and AACSB and SACS-accredited institutions. For a small number of students, the MS in Marketing is expected be a stepping stone to the PhD.

Graphic Arts with Graphic Design Concentration
The Graphic Arts degree offers students a sequence of rigorous courses that balance critical thinking and pragmatic experience, complemented by the enriched experience of the liberal arts environment of the University of South Florida.

Graphic artists develop the images that give voice to the world around us. Using their raw materials - the ability to think, draw, write, speak and design - students learn the skills to solve specific visual problems. The study of typography, design concepts, and digital technology develops an understanding of the tradition, practice, and process of graphic design.

This program guides students in building the imagination, aesthetic sensitivity, and powers of critical thought required to succeed as visual communicators. The curriculum emphasizes expertise in image development, typography, print and screen-based graphics, and interactive design. The program prepares students for the rigor of professional design practice through an internship program, courses in production, and portfolio development. Additionally, students design, organize and promote an exhibition of their final senior project.

Computer Science-M.S.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a thesis and non-thesis option for the degree of Master of Science in Computer Science (M.S.C.S.) The thesis option requires students to pursue a more concentrated range of topics. The non-thesis option offers students some experience in many areas of computer science. There is considerable freedom in the choice of the courses.

The breadth of subjects which are part of computer science together with the immense diversity of its applications, make it imperative that students in the Master’s major maintain close contact with the Graduate Director, or, if choosing the thesis option, with their major professor in order to achieve a coherent plan of study directed towards a specific goal. In particular, election of courses should only be made with prior consultation and approval of the Major Professor or the Graduate Director.

Computer Engineering
The Computer Engineering program emphasizes the application of engineering principles to the design of computer hardware and software, and devotes additional time to computer architecture and advanced topics in hardware design, including extensive laboratory work. Students in this program also acquire a broad background in engineering topics through related coursework in the College.

International Year One in Natural and Health Sciences will prepare you to enter the second year of a bachelor's degree program at the University of South Florida. Microbiology
This degree specializes in the study of bacteria and other microbes, primarily at the cell and molecular level, and focuses on disease causing microbes. The Microbiology core and elective requirements include specialized microbiology courses necessary to qualify for certification by the National Registry of Microbiologists, American Society of Microbiology, and employment in microbiology and related fields. Many microbiology majors plan to apply to medical or dental school, while others plan careers as professional microbiologists in industry and government. Others become teachers or aspire to graduate training in microbiology.

The Spanish Section of the Department of World Languages supports a broad, intellectually-driven approach to teaching language, culture, and literature in higher education. Languages and cultures are complex, multifunctional phenomena that link an individual to other individuals, to communities and to national cultures. The graduate major in Spanish offers students academic and practical training in the languages, literatures and cultures of the Spanish-speaking communities of Spain, Latin America, and the United States. Students who receive a Masters of Arts in Spanish from the Department of World Language Education at USF become well-educated communicators with deep translingual and transcultural competence. Thus, they are exceptionally prepared to either continue studies leading to the Ph.D., or find careers in related fields such as the teaching profession, translation, government, civil service agencies, legal and paralegal services, or foreign and domestic business enterprises.
