Rowan English majors explore how meaning is made in and through language. They study a wide range of literary texts, learning to read closely, to ask sharp questions, and to write skillfully and with purpose. Rowan English majors form a unique and diverse learning community—one that celebrates intellectual curiosity, civic responsibility, and the rigors of research and critical analysis. At all levels of the curriculum, English majors engage with questions of genre, form, style, author, and audience as well as with questions of history, nation, culture, and social identity. The departmental mission is to teach and model the range of traditions and perspectives necessary for the study of literature, its history, and its contexts today.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Criminal Justice prepares students for leadership positions in criminal justice agencies; for research positions in federal, state, county, city non-profit and private research institutions; and for further study in doctoral programs. This program aims to help students develop their skills to use research to evaluate the effectiveness of programs aimed at preventing and controlling crime. Upon degree completion, graduates will have an understanding of the causes of crime, of the impact of law on society and of contemporary issues in policing, courts and corrections.

Our Master of Arts in Mathematics provides an opportunity to pursue advanced study in mathematics and develop the skills to help lead you to success in today's technologically-oriented society. Whether the goal involves applying mathematics to solve problems in business and industry, teaching in higher education, preparing for further graduate study in mathematics or related fields, or working in a rapidly the growing field of big data analysis as a statistician, this program enables each student to pursue a course of study that is appropriate for their interests.

To address these varying interests, we offer three concentrations: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychological Science is a degree designed for students who are interested in pursuing research-oriented careers that may or may not require graduate level training such as experimental psychology .

Our curriculum is designed to provide our students with breadth and depth of knowledge in psychology as well as professional skills in research both inside and outside of the classroom. Along with other foundation courses, the degree requires a year-long research course sequence (i.e. Advance Research I and II) that provides students with the opportunity to conduct a human subjects research project from beginning to the end. The BS in Psychological Science major consists of 60 credits in psychology, 4 credits in Calculus, and 4 credits in Biological Science.

Our M.S. in Engineering effectively prepares professionals to respond to the changing needs of engineers today. Our students complete higher level coursework in technical topics and develop and demonstrate applied skills in research, teaching, and communication - all of which leads to an advanced engineering degree. Our program provides you with the necessary knowledge, skill set, and training to be leaders in the engineering workforce.

Novel independent research, conducted under the supervision of a faculty mentor, is an option (thesis-track) and will culminate in publication(s) in peer-reviewed scientific journals, presentations at scientific conferences, a thesis, and the potential generation of intellectual property.

The Management Information Systems (MIS) program will teach you how to harness cutting-edge information technology to analyze business problems and create solutions.

You will learn to design, develop, implement and maintain technical solutions that will meet the business challenges and opportunities of the future.

Our MIS students are extraordinarily well-prepared for work in the information systems field. MIS students are expected to have three areas of distinct competency: business knowledge, technical skills and interpersonal skills.

Our M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis prepares our graduates with the necessary coursework for certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Applied Behavior Analysis is one of the most effective and frequently utilized treatment approaches for individuals with special needs, including those with developmental disabilities and autism. Our program has an excellent reputation, and includes a strong basis in experimental analysis with full-time faculty members trained in this area.

Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is a relevant and timely major especially with the current and impending threat of universal terrorism, the impact of climate change and natural disasters, and the enhanced need to address issues related to public safety and national security. Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is an innovative and interdisciplinary degree program that focuses on training students in areas that impact human welfare locally, nationally, and globally. The program has a distinctive emphasis on urban issues and environments and the role that ethics plays in how policies, politics, and practices shape the quality of life for human beings in our state, nation, and world.

Rowan University integrates the study of dance within a liberal arts curriculum that prepares students for lifelong learning. Housed within the Department of Theatre and Dance, a multidisciplinary program committed to experimentation and collaboration, the BA in Dance creates informed artists whose technical training in movement and performance is coupled with intellectual engagement.
