Students earning a BS in Environmental Science will leave Rowan University with a broad understanding of several scientific disciplines and mathematics. Course requirements offer flexibility within the degree, not only with a number of elective credits but with choices among specialized courses.

BS students integrate the foundations of biology, chemistry, physics and other core STEM disciplines with their understanding of environmental issues. The Management degree prepares students for meaningful positions in management by providing them with a foundation for career growth. The management program is designed to provide a strong foundation in both traditional and innovative management skills in the areas of leading and supervising others, communicating clearly, and being able to analyze and solve organizational problems using both quantitative and qualitative information. It includes traditional classroom instruction, simulations, "real world" internships, lectures by management practitioners and working with academic advisors to develop and implement a course of study which meets each student's individual needs.

Students enrolled in the management program are expected:

Our Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a multi-faceted, intensive program that provides the educational requirements necessary to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). It is also an appropriate degree path if you are interested in research positions, plan to pursue a doctoral degree, are going to teach, or are seeking human service positions.

The curriculum emphasizes the development of skills in differential diagnosis, conceptualization and development of treatment plans for mental health patients. Our students are exposed to many different aspects of the field, giving them extensive field experience and knowledge of individualized outpatient treatment and counseling.

Our M.A. in Higher Education Administrative track is designed to serve professionals without any experience in higher education administration, but who aspire to careers in that field; as well as those who are already practicing administrators in a college or university who wish to upgrade their skills.

Graduates of our Administrative track often pursue higher education careers in student affairs, including residential life, admissions, academic advising, student activity programming, and service-learning/volunteerism.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has become one of the hottest areas of interest for students and a highly marketable skill. Often listed as a "recession-proof" job, GIS technicians, analysts and specialists find employment in planning and engineering firms, in state and local government, and in many non-profit and advocacy organizations. Spatial analysis allows us to explore complex data sets and see how many environmental factors can impact a place. Visualization tools that are a part of GIS software allow us to explore data in 3D and across time periods. GIS is the tool to explore our world.

The Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Science (B.S.GIS) major is a professional degree program that prepares students for a range of careers dealing with geospatial technologies, modeling, and spatial problem-solving. Graduates of our program are well-prepared for positions in research laboratories, local, state, and federal agencies, private companies, planning departments, engineering firms, and many others. Our students are also excellently prepared for pursuing advanced graduate degree programs. The B.S. GIS program provides students with in-depth skills in GIS analysis and programming. The program at Rowan has a special focus on web-based mapping, environmental sustainability and the emerging field of geodesign which coordinates well with our planning offerings.
