The Biophysics major prepares students for medical school, graduate school in biophysics and for careers in medical industry. Immerse yourself in an interdisciplinary major that will prepare you to employ the power of physics, chemistry and math to study biological processes, understand how to prevent diseases, design cures or develop novel technologies.

Biophysics harnesses several branches of science to explore the biological systems and the physical properties of their molecules. A degree in biophysics will prepare you to work in research institutes, medical centers, with the government or at universities.

Rowan's Physics major balances general physics courses that develop analytical skills needed for any career direction with more advanced courses in highly technical areas. The department also offers coursework in astronomy and astrophysics. Personal attention is a hallmark of the program: enrollment in laboratory-based physics classes is limited to 24 students per section, and all lectures and labs are taught by faculty, not teaching assistants. In our junior-level Research Methods courses, students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment as they plan and execute a project under the direction of our research faculty. Physics majors can enter fields such as education, going on to teach at the secondary level, or pursue an advanced degree to become a college profesor and/or conduct research; others may enter fields such as busiess, computers, engineering, finance, law, and medicine.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychological Science is a degree designed for students who are interested in pursuing research-oriented careers that may or may not require graduate level training such as experimental psychology .

Our curriculum is designed to provide our students with breadth and depth of knowledge in psychology as well as professional skills in research both inside and outside of the classroom. Along with other foundation courses, the degree requires a year-long research course sequence (i.e. Advance Research I and II) that provides students with the opportunity to conduct a human subjects research project from beginning to the end. The BS in Psychological Science major consists of 60 credits in psychology, 4 credits in Calculus, and 4 credits in Biological Science.

Our Master of Science (M.S.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences prepares you for a career in the highly interdisciplinary field of pharmaceutical sciences. The field of pharmaceutical science involves the integration of concepts from organic chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, and molecular biology for the design, and synthesis of drugs as well as for understanding the mechanism of drug action. As a practitioner in this field, you may work on the discovery and development of novel drugs, creating efficient use of existing drugs, and lowering the cost of therapy employing less expensive protocols for manufacturing drugs.

Our M.S. in Computer Science provides a higher level of understanding in computational science and its application to a variety of fields, including education, industry, research, business and government. The Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Wellness (formerly Community Health) prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in public health, community health, wellness and health promotion.  The curriculum includes courses in the areas of health program planning, implementation and evaluation;  wellness coaching, stress management  and behavior change; and nutrition and exercise science.  Relevant current issues related to social justice, global and environmental sustainability and addressing worldwide pandemic threats are also explored.

Health Promotion is a process of supporting, training and encouraging others in the pursuit of well-being in all dimensions of a person's life, including Social, Physical, Emotional, Occupational, Intellectual, Environmental and Spiritual. Personal health behavior is significant, as individuals are encouraged to adopt and maintain positive lifestyles through a variety of awareness, educational and motivational strategies. The program incorporates the Dimensions of Wellness philosophy as endorsed by the National Wellness Institute.

Students are prepared to facilitate wellness programs that address the overall well-being of individuals and groups. This program also emphasizes the management of health promotion and wellness interventions, preparing students with the administrative and business skills they need to successfully implement HPWM programs.

The Rowan Health Promotion and Wellness Management (HPWM) program is nationally accredited by the National Wellness Institute. It was one of the first programs awarded the Distinguished Undergraduate Program Award  by the National Wellness Institute.
