This non-thesis degree program provides a mix of theoretical and applied background for students interested in a career in statistics. The curriculum delivers the necessary technical, analytical, and interpretive skills required of professional statisticians. It also concentrates on education in the fundamentals of statistics and its interdisciplinary nature. Biomedical science combines the fields of biology and medicine in order to focus on the health of both animals and humans. As a biomedical science major, you'll study biochemical and physiological functions, anatomical and histological structures, epidemiology, and pharmacology.

The Department of Biological Science offers three majors leading to the Bachelor of Science degree (Marine Biology; Microbial, Cellular & Molecular Biology; Organismal Biology).  The curricula for these majors are designed to provide students with a solid foundation in biology as well as providing the opportunity for specialization.  All of these majors also provide a strong preparation for further study in graduate programs or in professional schools, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and other allied health fields.

Our Bachelor of Arts in public relations teaches you all elements of the public relations process—from research, planning, communication, and evaluation to communication strategies, media tactics, and the application of public relations in society today. You’ll develop strong skills in ethical reasoning, strategic thinking, and creative problem solving, along with written and oral communication skills. You’ll gain hands-on experiences through our service-learning component, which requires you to work in teams with our community partners.

The BS in Chemistry provides a strong background in chemistry while allowing students to specialize in areas of interest. It is especially well suited for students leaning towards medical sciences while allowing more flexibility than that allowed in the American Chemical Society-approved biochemistry curriculum. The program allows for great versatility in the junior and senior years, allowing the curriculum to be tailored to individual goals. The curriculum prepares students for professional careers in chemistry or biochemistry and advanced degree programs in chemistry, biochemistry and medically related fields.
