The Hospitality Management (HOSP) program provides a strong educational foundation and excellent career preparation for students interested in the premium service segment of the hospitality industry. The HOSP curriculum offers a variety of courses and unique experiential learning opportunities designed to prepare our graduates to pursue successful management and/or entrepreneurial opportunities in the hotel/lodging, restaurant, event planning, culinary, country club, foodservice or beverage industries.

The Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRMG) option is designed to prepare students for careers in the premium service segment of the lodging and food service industries. This sector spans both the commercial and non-commercial aspects of the broader hospitality industry and presents itself as a key contributor to the economic wellbeing of the state of Alabama and the nation. The Master of Science in Data Science and Engineering program, offered on campus and online, prepares students to pursue careers in data science and engineering, where valuable insights are derived from massive amounts of raw data. Our high?quality curriculum offers an excellent balance between theory and application, equipping students with foundational skills and state?of?the?art technologies related to the next generation of big data applications.

On-campus students will be able to complete this graduate program in one to two years, while online students typically have up to six years to complete their coursework. This program blends graduate?level courses in core topics like data mining, machine learning, and statistical learning. The program also offers a wide variety of electives in addition to a required capstone experience, in which students apply their knowledge and skills to a real?world application scenario.

There are two formal options in the program: the data engineering option, administered by the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and the data science option, managed by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Both options are now available to online students.

The applied biotechnology major at Auburn is an interdisciplinary program that brings together the multidisciplinary expertise of faculty from various departments within the College of Agriculture. This major will prepare you to meet the needs of today’s rapidly growing biotechnology and biomedical industries, equipping you with the specialized knowledge, skills and techniques this exciting field demands.

As a biotechnologist, you will be trained to apply advanced science and engineering to some of the world’s leading issues through alternative energy sources, safer plant- and animal-based products, management of crop damage, reduced production costs and more.

What you’ll Study
Your major’s courses will go beyond general biology to include genetics and genomics, microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences and related disciplines. You’ll also get hands-on experience with molecular techniques in state-of-the-art research labs on-campus and gain real-world experience as an intern with a biotechnology-related company. This will help you build the strong scientific background and research skills necessary for employment within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Our Bachelor of Arts degree in art is a studio-based degree that teaches you both art theory and skills in photography, printmaking, painting, ceramics, and more. We present a dynamic mixture of stylistic and aesthetic viewpoints that instill intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. Beyond the studio and lecture hall, we offer study abroad, career preparation, internship opportunities, and exhibitions and lectures by contemporary artists.

This degree produces graduates who are able to identify, formulate, analyze and solve complex biosystems engineering problems by using appropriate tools and techniques, including independent research, and who can effectively communicate to technical and non-technical audiences. Graduates are prepared for employment in national laboratories, industry and universities, and are able to design, develop, regulate, research and manage the systems and technologies needed to produce, transport, store and use natural resources to meet humanity’s most fundamental needs such as safe and abundant food, clean water, fiber, and renewable sources of fuel; and bio-based life-enhancing and life-saving products.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre performance is an extension of our BA in theatre and offers studio acting, voice, and movement training with professional actors. There are also numerous opportunities to participate in a wide variety of production experiences. You’ll audition for the program in the spring of your sophomore year, and begin this rigorous course of study in the fall of your junior year. You’ll engage in scene study, text analysis, voice, speech, dialects, mask work, makeup, on-camera training, and audition workshops with professional actors and producers.

This program option speaks directly to the Auburn Mission, in that it is designed to service the educational needs of those citizens/students looking to advance their careers in the broad hospitality industry, and culinary fields in particular. Culinary Science is designed to attract students pursuing careers in the commercial, and non-commercial food production and service industry. As is the case both nationally and globally, the culinary field now makes a significant contribution to the socio-economic wellbeing of the state of Alabama and the nation. Interest in the culinary field has continued to grow at an enormous pace with culinary professionals now needed not just in hotel dining facilities and traditional restaurants, but in a variety of settings including the public and private sector, consumer-oriented and institutional. This study option is designed to position Auburn University to keep pace with this vital economic contributor by educating the trained professionals needed to meet the continuing demands of the state’s and nation's ever-developing hospitality industry. The program will underscore the importance of local and sustainable food systems as a means of educating and preparing graduates that will make a meaningful contribution to our planet, industry and global society’s long-term future. In so doing it will concentrate on the technical proficiency, scientific rigor and managerial know-how needed to make this contribution.

Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics that deals with mathematical methods that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry. Thus, applied mathematics is a combination of mathematical science and specialized knowledge. The term "applied mathematics" also describes the professional specialty in which mathematicians work on practical problems by formulating and studying mathematical models. In the past, practical applications have motivated the development of mathematical theories, which then became the subject of study in pure mathematics where abstract concepts are studied for their own sake. The activity of applied mathematics is thus intimately connected with research in pure mathematics.

Our Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre management leads to a professional career as a stage or production manager for theaters, concert venues, or theme parks. You’ll take courses in stage management, production management, and events management, as well as related courses in civic engagement, public relations, and business. There are numerous opportunities on and off-campus for hands-on experience as a house manager, production assistant, events manager, assistant stage manager, or production stage manager.
