Economics is the study of how individuals, businesses, governments, and societies make decisions concerning the use and distribution of resources. It is the central science underlying business and public policies.

Our Bachelor of Science in economics emphasizes a broad understanding of how consumers' and producers' behavior is influenced by certain events—such as changes in interest rates or new government regulations. We offer two tracks of study. The primary track allows you to choose a minor to complement your study of economics and advance your career goals. Political science, finance, business administration, and foreign languages are common choices. The quantitative track is a specialized program designed to prepare you for graduate education in economics.

The Bachelor of Arts in French-international trade is a professional degree that broadens your understanding of society through cultural exchange in French and provides you with communication skills, linguistic dexterity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. These cultural insights and practical tools can help you find your place in today’s competitive, multilingual marketplace.

The Department offers the Organismal Biology major leading to the Bachelor of Science degree.  The curricula for this major is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in biology as well as providing the opportunity for specialization. This program also provides a strong preparation for further study in graduate programs or in professional schools, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and other allied health fields.

Our Bachelor of Arts in public administration will prepare you for success in public service. You’ll develop the skills needed to assume major leadership roles in local, state, and national governments, community service groups, and non-profit organizations.

Do you like thinking about how humans think? Are you interested in solving challenging problems with no known solutions? Are you intrigued by the unknown? Then our Bachelor of Science in neuroscience may be for you. Our program combines psychology and science to deepen the understanding of the brain and the nervous system. You’ll have the opportunity to conduct research and use state-of-the-art equipment at the Auburn University MRI Research Center.

As a student in the Crop and Soil Sciences major, you’ll apply the basic sciences — such as biology, chemistry, physics, geology and microbiology — to better understand the natural foundation upon which our entire industry is built.

Through hands-on exposure to a variety of computer systems, tools and techniques, the Bachelor of Computer Science program provides excellent preparation for students seeking careers in software-related computing fields. Course work includes computer algorithms, operating systems, networks, and theoretical computer science. Students also have the ability to specialize in topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data through electives.

The applied biotechnology major at Auburn is an interdisciplinary program that brings together the multidisciplinary expertise of faculty from various departments within the College of Agriculture. This major will prepare you to meet the needs of today’s rapidly growing biotechnology and biomedical industries, equipping you with the specialized knowledge, skills and techniques this exciting field demands.

As a biotechnologist, you will be trained to apply advanced science and engineering to some of the world’s leading issues through alternative energy sources, safer plant- and animal-based products, management of crop damage, reduced production costs and more.

What you’ll Study
Your major’s courses will go beyond general biology to include genetics and genomics, microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences and related disciplines. You’ll also get hands-on experience with molecular techniques in state-of-the-art research labs on-campus and gain real-world experience as an intern with a biotechnology-related company.
