Emerging global issues, rapidly advancing technologies, and multi-cultural consumer behaviors impact success in the fast-paced, dynamic fashion industry. Career success requires understanding the fashion industry from beginning to end. The department of Consumer and Design Sciences Apparel faculty prepare graduates for a variety of fashion-related careers in the global supply chain. Creativity, innovation, critical thinking, technical competency, and communication effectiveness are valued skill sets. With the integrated core of apparel-related courses, coupled with the focus on the merchandising or design and production management, students will be prepared to work effectively as a team member in a variety of fashion-related settings.

The Apparel Merchandising Option provides students with a unique perspective on this competitive, consumer-driven marketplace. A foundation in textile and apparel product knowledge and business fundamentals is combined with a focus on forecasting and interpreting consumer demand.

The internationalization of producing and marketing fashion-oriented products is emphasized. A strong business orientation is featured. Professional electives provide opportunities to individualize the student’s program to meet career goals. The senior level internship in either a domestic or international firm is focused on the student’s career interests. It may include marketing, store management, buying, sourcing, sales, merchandising, media and special events, fashion journalism, or consumer relations experiences.

Are you interested in pressing cultural, political, and social issues such as health care, the environment, and civil rights? If so, then our Bachelor of Arts in political science may be for you. Our program integrates the humanities and social sciences to examine political processes, systems, and dynamics across the globe. You’ll learn about American government, comparative politics, international relations, political theory, and public law. In addition, you’ll gain valuable analytical, oral, and written communication skills.

Every day you interact with family, friends, authority figures, and strangers. Sociologists study the circumstances around this human behavior and social interaction, with a particular focus on groups, networks, social institutions, and social change.

Our Bachelor of Arts in sociology gives you an understanding of these social contexts and helps you develop skills in oral and written communication, critical thinking, and research. Because our faculty specialize in a wide range of fields, you’ll take courses on organizations, criminal and deviant behavior, social psychological processes, family life, legal institutions, medical systems, human population dynamics, and international development. You’ll have opportunities for internships and hands-on research experience.

The Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering provides students an opportunity to use scientific principles and engineering concepts and practices to design, build, test and operate aerospace, aviation and aeronautical systems and vehicles, including involvement in the design, development and production of vehicles for flight, both in and beyond the atmosphere.

The department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in medical laboratory science, chemistry, and biochemistry. The department has 24 full-time faculty members and is conducting cutting-edge research in the areas of biological chemistry, synthesis methodology, molecular recognition and detection, new material synthesis and characterization, computational chemistry, renewable energy, as well as in the traditional areas of analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. The Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) prepares undergraduate students for a variety of exciting and challenging career opportunities including: preschool teaching; administering programs for young children, adolescents, and adults; parent education; mental health services; child advocacy; and cooperative extension. Senior HDFS interns have been placed in outstanding work settings throughout the United States such as Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, the Children's Television Workshop/Sesame Street, Walt Disney World, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Interns have also been placed in many local schools, counseling centers, social service agencies, court systems, and assisted living facilities for seniors.

The biosystems engineering degree prepares graduates who are highly competent in developing engineering-based sustainable solutions to the global challenges and life’s essentials: safe and plentiful food to eat, pure water to drink, clean fuel and energy sources, and a safe, healthy environment in which to live. Students can also choose to specialize in one of the following three options: ecological engineering, bioprocess engineering and forest engineering.

With a major in business administration, you will get hands-on experience through coursework in areas of accounting, business analytics, marketing, finance, and management. You will also get the opportunity to focus or specialize your major elective courses to define your personal career goals.

Auburn’s Bachelor of Science in Building Construction (BSCI) Program is a four-year ACCE accredited program focused on construction management including specialized training in estimating, scheduling, project management, safety, surveying, sustainable construction, and structures.
