Career success requires understanding the fashion industry from beginning to end. The department of Consumer and Design Sciences Apparel faculty prepare graduates for a variety of fashion-related careers in the global supply chain. Creativity, innovation, critical thinking, technical competency, and communication effectiveness are valued skill sets. With the integrated core of apparel-related courses, coupled with the focus on the merchandising or design and production management, students will be prepared to work effectively as a team member in a variety of fashion-related settings.

The Apparel Merchandising Option provides students with a unique perspective on this competitive, consumer-driven marketplace. A foundation in textile and apparel product knowledge and business fundamentals is combined with a focus on forecasting and interpreting consumer demand.

The internationalization of producing and marketing fashion-oriented products is emphasized. A strong business orientation is featured. Professional electives provide opportunities to individualize the student’s program to meet career goals. The senior level internship in either a domestic or international firm is focused on the student’s career interests. It may include marketing, store management, buying, sourcing, sales, merchandising, media and special events, fashion journalism, or consumer relations experiences.

Major in information systems management, and you will receive education and training that will help you lead organizational change projects by transforming and improving business processes and by designing and creating new, innovative digital products and services.

Our program provides you with the tools and resources you need to become a part of your desired career field, whether it be software application design and development, database design and administration, project management, or systems analysis. We will help you bridge the gap between information technology specialists and end-users.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition/Dietetics consists of a 2-year pre-professional component and the 2-year Professional Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD). Graduates who successfully complete the Didactic Program in Dietetics are qualified to apply for a post-baccalaureate supervised-practice program (e.g., a dietetic internship), which is a requirement for eligibility to take the National Registration Examination for Dietitians and earn the RD/RDN credential.

Our Department of Horticulture has been recognized nationally for its research programs, its student-centered faculty members and its high rate of employment for graduates. As a horticulture major, you’ll learn how to establish, propagate, harvest and manage fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. The landscape horticulture major option track will provide you with the opportunity to combine the science of horticulture and your creative abilities in creating aesthetically beautiful, inviting and functional environments. Landscape horticulturists use the principles of design and the appropriate plant material to create both residential and commercial landscapes.

The biosystems engineering degree prepares graduates who are highly competent in developing engineering-based sustainable solutions to the global challenges and life’s essentials: safe and plentiful food to eat, pure water to drink, clean fuel and energy sources, and a safe, healthy environment in which to live. Students can also choose to specialize in one of the following three options: ecological engineering, bioprocess engineering and forest engineering.

The applied biotechnology major at Auburn is an interdisciplinary program that brings together the multidisciplinary expertise of faculty from various departments within the College of Agriculture. This major will prepare you to meet the needs of today’s rapidly growing biotechnology and biomedical industries, equipping you with the specialized knowledge, skills and techniques this exciting field demands.

As a biotechnologist, you will be trained to apply advanced science and engineering to some of the world’s leading issues through alternative energy sources, safer plant- and animal-based products, management of crop damage, reduced production costs and more.

What you’ll Study
Your major’s courses will go beyond general biology to include genetics and genomics, microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences and related disciplines. Geography is a broad synthesizing discipline that studies humans and the Earth by focusing on the themes of place and space. Geography is therefore not an encyclopedic listing of capital cities, mountains and rivers, but rather an understanding of the causes, effects, implications, and importance of these and other features. As Geography is so broad, it is often studied as a number of separate but closely related sub-disciplines, notably physical geography and human geography, and also regional geography (Area Studies), topical geography and geographic techniques (Geomatics).

Through hands-on exposure to a variety of computer systems, tools and techniques, the Bachelor of Computer Science program provides excellent preparation for students seeking careers in software-related computing fields. Course work includes computer algorithms, operating systems, networks, and theoretical computer science. Students also have the ability to specialize in topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data through electives.

Our Environmental Science major program is an interdisciplinary degree, incorporating studies such as soil science, physics, chemistry, biology and geology.
