As a horticulture major, you’ll learn how to establish, propagate, harvest and manage fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. You’ll also learn the principles of landscape design to create and manage aesthetically pleasing environments.

Your studies as a Biological and Agricultural Technology Management (BATMan or BATM) major at Auburn will be a combination of science, technological systems, and business courses.

With 70 percent increase in global demand for healthy food, clean water and affordable energy in a healthy environment due to world population that is expected to reach over 9 billion by 2050, BATM graduates will be in high demand to develop, operate, support and spread technologies to support agricultural and biological systems that produce and provide these essentials of life. BATM graduates will also acquire skills that are transferable to other sectors that rely heavily on technology such as automotive and manufacturing industries.

What you’ll Study
Students will take a variety of courses in technology, science and management that will enable them to be practical problem solvers, and be able to manage and develop solutions to the technological challenges of the increasingly complex agricultural and biological systems of the 21st century.

The curriculum is also designed such that students can simultaneously obtain a minor in Agronomy and Soils, Stewardship-based Agriculture, Agribusiness, Information Systems Management, Technical and Professional Communication, Poultry Science or Business Analytics.

Major in information systems management, and you will receive education and training that will help you lead organizational change projects by transforming and improving business processes and by designing and creating new, innovative digital products and services.

Our program provides you with the tools and resources you need to become a part of your desired career field, whether it be software application design and development, database design and administration, project management, or systems analysis. We will help you bridge the gap between information technology specialists and end-users.

Our Bachelor of Arts degree in art is a studio-based degree that teaches you both art theory and skills in photography, printmaking, painting, ceramics, and more. Art historians study how societies across time and around the world have expressed themselves through an essential form of human expression—art.

Our Bachelor of Arts degree in art (formal option - art history) provides you with an understanding of the historical and intellectual significance of a range of artistic forms and practices around the world, from prehistoric times to the present. You’ll learn about scholarly issues in art history and become familiar with a variety of research methods used by art historians.   

With its visually and intellectually stimulating study of art and visual culture, a minor in art history is ideal for any major. You will develop numerous transferable skills including writing, research, critical thinking, visual analysis, and verbal communication. These skills are valuable in professions such as law, medicine, communication, business, and museum and gallery work.

Emphasis in Nursery and Greenhouse Science
As a student in nursery and greenhouse science major option, you will learn how to manage container nurseries, field nurseries and greenhouses for the production of woody and herbaceous perennial ornamentals, annuals and florist crops.

They design and build sustainable roads, bridges, buildings and other structures that facilitate the efficient delivery of goods, services and utilities.This degree program prepares students to practice professionally in a competitive global environment, working as efficient team members and leaders in the planning, construction or operation of infrastructure systems.

A Bachelor of Arts in French broadens your understanding of society through cultural exchange in French and provides you with communication skills, linguistic dexterity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. The Master of Science in Data Science and Engineering program, offered on campus and online, prepares students to pursue careers in data science and engineering, where valuable insights are derived from massive amounts of raw data. Our high?quality curriculum offers an excellent balance between theory and application, equipping students with foundational skills and state?of?the?art technologies related to the next generation of big data applications.

On-campus students will be able to complete this graduate program in one to two years, while online students typically have up to six years to complete their coursework. This program blends graduate?level courses in core topics like data mining, machine learning, and statistical learning. The program also offers a wide variety of electives in addition to a required capstone experience, in which students apply their knowledge and skills to a real?world application scenario.

There are two formal options in the program: the data engineering option, administered by the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and the data science option, managed by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Both options are now available to online students.
