Overview
The Environmental Studies degree prepares students for a number of interesting and challenging careers. Its interdisciplinary nature provides students with tools that can be applied across a spectrum of science, social behavior, and humanities, using the strengths of the various areas. Students seeking journalistic or artistic careers will gain a scientific background by which to understand environmental science, while students going into the sciences will appreciate the social, political, and ethical dimensions of environmental actions and policy decisions.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Science in Biology - Pre-Health Professional
The Pre- Health Professional Biology Track is designed for students seeking entrance into professional health programs including medicine (MD or DO), veterinary medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. Students in this track will also be well prepared if they decide to apply to graduate school. In addition to core Biology courses in Genetics and Molecular & Cellular Biology, this track emphasizes courses in development, physiology, and anatomy. Moreover, electives like Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Evolution & Medicine as well as lab courses in Anatomy, Genetics and Genomics will give students the background needed to excel in professional school entrance exams (e.g. the MCAT) as well as courses offered in those professional schools.

Power and Renewable Energy Track
Gain an in-depth understanding of power system operation and control, renewable energy integration, machines, microgrid design and operation, power markets and data analytics. RF and Microwaves Track
In this track, you’ll have the opportunity to take technical elective courses covering a wide range of topics in applied electromagnetics such as antennas, computational electromagnetics, high-speed circuits and systems, bioelectromagnetics, radar, remote sensing and wireless sensors.

The management major combines theory and application, with a focus on problem solving, group projects, and case analysis. The curriculum prepares students for leadership roles in a variety of organizations, including: large and small, public and private, for profit and non-for-profit. The program can also accommodate students who wish to embark on their own entrepreneurial ventures. Students majoring in management should possess strong quantitative skills, enjoy problem solving, and embrace working with people. Not eligible for a double degree with another College of Business Administration major.

The BA in Emergency Management prepares you to become a future emergency management leader through providing a well-rounded curriculum that covers the fundamental skills, theoretical understanding and knowledge needed to succeed in the industry. Your coursework will offer a deeper understanding about how to support organizations and communities in the preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery efforts of disaster situations while emphasizing ethical decision making, resilience and social responsibility.
As an emergency management major, you’ll be required to complete a minor. Many students choose from areas such as public administration, urban and regional planning and nonprofit management. You may also select a minor outside of the School of Public Administration that has been approved by the undergraduate program coordinator. Emergency management classes are offered face-to-face at UCF Downtown, mixed-mode and online. This offers you the flexibility and convenience you need to balance school, work and life.

The Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida is located in the heart of the theme park capital of the world – Orlando, Florida. Orlando is home to eight major theme parks and four themed water parks. In addition, there are dozens of smaller attractions that feature a variety of unique themes. Rosen College has capitalized on this location to develop the world’s only program dedicated to theme park and attraction management. As part of our Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management, students are able to take a series of courses in a specialized track of study for those interested in careers in the theme park and attractions industry.

As an English major at UCF, explore the power of language. Your coursework will cover critical thought, expression through writing, and knowledge of cultural and literary trends from a number of different perspectives. These perspectives include scholarship, creating original texts, and communication about and through technology.
You’ll have the opportunity to align your studies with your personal and professional goals. Choose from three tracks, including creative writing, literature and technical communication. After graduation, pursue a career in fields such as law, editing and publishing, teaching, corporate and not-for-profit management, consulting and information technology. This degree also prepares you to continue your studies in graduate school, whether you choose to continue English or another discipline.
Literature Track
Develop the ability to read discerningly, think critically and write clearly. This track encompasses the study of literature in its historical, cultural and theoretical contexts. You’ll learn about the ways of people and society, as well as develop a lifelong pleasure to be found in this art form.

UCF’s program focuses on air pollution control, water and wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, environmental health, and remediation. Environmental engineers are responsible for improving the quality of life and safety of society, and plan, design, permit, and maintain projects to comply with regulations and improvement of water, soil, and air quality. UCF’s students are active in the Society of Environmental Engineers and other student organizations.
