As a chemical engineering major, you will apply the principles of multidisciplinary sciences, problem solving, economics, and human relations to develop new products and processes, as well as design, build, and supervise facilities that convert raw materials into products and services for the common good.

Our chemical engineering program will provide you with fundamental science and engineering skills, applied engineering knowledge, and extensive experiential laboratory learning which culminate in a real-world design capstone. UD successfully integrates these core technical competencies with a balanced general education, opportunities for industrial or research involvement, and an overarching community environment, to create a unique, well-rounded educational experience that will prepare you for later success in the workforce, graduate school, or professional school.

A solid music curriculum combined with an arts and sciences education provides students the ability and flexibility to pursue their interests and prepare for their career.

Computer information systems (CIS) overlaps many other fields, so we prepare our students to face a wide range of challenges. The CIS major has a built-in minor that allows you to choose an area of interest, such as entrepreneurship or financial mathematics, that will greatly enhance your marketability after graduation.

The science facilities at University of Dayton’s Science Center complex include the latest equipment. As a graduate student, you’ll gain firsthand experience with nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers, high pressure liquid chromatography equipment and more. Students may choose to pursue projects in all major chemistry sub-disciplines.

We offer a theatre and dance major that allows for artists to become well-rounded and socially conscious practitioners through experiential learning in all areas. Students can pursue four different concentrations in the major: acting, applied theatre, dance and performance technology, or simply choose theatre studies for a generalist approach.

Our research, particularly in the areas of nanomaterials, energy systems, and fuels and combustion — as led by the von Ohain Fuels and Combustion Center — is enhanced by our relationship with the Air Force Research Laboratories. 

You can choose from numerous research opportunities: aircraft fuels and combustion, alternative fuels for future use in homes, transportation, and industrial energy systems. Experiment with robotics and controls, nanomaterial characterization, kinematic design, or aerospace design.

As a UD entrepreneurship major, you'll learn to launch and sustain a business. But this program does not simply talk theory; it involves real decisions and action. During the Sophomore Experience, you will create and run a microbusiness with $5,000 in start-up capital.

Students with a degree in applied mathematical economics learn to utilize mathematical modeling to analyze problems, which prepares them to pursue a variety of professions in business and economics. Our graduates have used their degree to launch careers in cost analysis, risk analysis, actuarial consulting, operations research, data science, quality control, investment consulting, insurance and technology consulting
