The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice at the University of Mississippi empowers students to explore their criminal justice interests from emphasis areas in corrections, homeland security or law enforcement

This program prepares students to move directly into a wide range of criminal justice careers upon graduation and is built upon practice experience. Our Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice program is staffed by outstanding, highly-published faculty, each of whom is committed to providing University of Mississippi students with the best academic preparation possible.

The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering (B.S.B.E.) degree program will prepare engineering students at the University of Mississippi to capably apply advanced mathematics, science, and engineering to solve the problems at the interface of engineering, biology, and medicine. Moreover, the curriculum will prepare graduates with the ability to make measurements on and interpret data from living systems, addressing the problems associated with the interaction between living and nonliving materials and systems.

The graduates of the program will be able to pursue (i) employment in biomedical or related industries (ii) graduate studies in biomedical engineering or related disciplines, and (iii) pursue professional careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or patent law.

You can choose one of three academic tracks in our biomedical engineering program:

• Biomolecular engineering – brings together the study of molecular biology, biophysics and chemical engineering to modify or create new molecules. This can lead you to a job working on innovative drugs and medical processes, as well as new foods and fuels.
• Biomedical systems – provides you with an understanding of medical instrumentation, devices and biomechanics. You’ll also learn about signal analysis, using technology and other tools to better understand a person’s health.
• Bioinformatics – applies big data analytics to genome sequencing, medical imaging and large data management. This degree can start you down the path for a career in computational medical research, software development or database management.

The M.A. in mathematics is designed (1) to prepare students for the teaching of mathematics, particularly in high schools and community colleges, (2) to prepare students for nonteaching professions or vocations, such as civil service, actuarial work, or statistical work, in which mathematics plays a principal part, or (3) for students who wish to supplement study in other fields with suitable courses in mathematics.

The M.S. in mathematics is designed primarily for students who are attracted to mathematics as a major scholarly pursuit, including students who plan eventually to work toward the doctorate in this field. The M.S. degree also prepares students who are looking for professional careers in mathematics, either as teachers or as research mathematicians.

A degree in Management Information Systems at Ole Miss combines traditional business courses such as Marketing, Management, and Finance with the skills to design and implement key information technology systems.

History majors at the University of Mississippi take a range of courses across American and European history as well as history of other regions. They take at least one advanced research course where they utilize primary resources to address questions of historical importance.

Studying history enhances a student's ability to think and reason, to communicate effectively, and to organize systematically, evaluate, and interpret information. These are essential skills demanded of today's young professionals and graduate students.

The B.S.E.S. degree program is designed for students entering allied health and fitness professions. With the degree, careers as health and fitness directors within private, municipal, corporate, and hospital- based fitness and health promotion centers are available. Students completing the B.S. degree often continue their education in exercise science, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, and other health- related graduate programs.

Focus on the applied sciences of exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, and the psychology of exercise behavior

A Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Ole Miss prepares students for allied health and fitness professions by studying contemporary issues and trends in the application of exercise for weight management, cardiopulmonary health, maintenance of functional movement, and the application of exercise science to athletic performance.

Political science majors at the University of Mississippi conduct policy analysis and study political actors and organizations within the context of American government and politics, comparative government and politics, and international relations. The department offers optional emphases in Campaigns & Elections, International Conflict & Cooperation, Politics of Developing Countries, or Law & Courts.

Political science is the study of political institutions and political behavior at the local, state, national, and international levels. Students of political science will develop critical thinking, writing, and oral communication skills essential to effective citizenship, as well as many careers.

The Master of Music is an advanced professional degree designed to develop a particular area in music to a high level of specialization. The university offers the M.M. with the following emphases:

• Performance in woodwind, brass, string, or percussion instruments, piano, and voice;
• Music education;
• Choral conducting;
• Musicology;
• Music theory;
• Ethnomusicology;
• Collaborative piano.

Emphasis - Music Performance
The M.M. degree with an emphasis in performance is designed to prepare a student to become a professional musician (performing as a pianist, woodwind, brass, string, or percussion instrumentalist, or vocalist) and/or prepares him/her for further graduate study or professional training. The performance emphasis can be completed with a concentration (option) in either piano, vocal, or instrumental.

The Master of Taxation & Data Analytics program offers specialization in both taxation and data analytics. Students in this program are given many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in data analytics and the latest relevant technologies. The program includes five accountancy and taxation courses, three data analytics courses, one taxation elective, and one accountancy elective.
