Psychological Science MA program is a highly competitive program that trains students in the theories and methodologies that define the core scientific pillars of psychology: social, developmental, cognitive and neuroscience.

With an emphasis on critical and integrative thinking, our students will understand the psychological foundations of human thought, emotions, motivation and behavior while conducting innovative research on diverse topics within psychology. You will have the opportunity to develop research and statistical skills both inside the laboratory and out in the world developing scientific solutions to real-world problems. Our program will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a career as a researcher, educator, and/or consultant in a variety of fields.

In the Management Information Systems (MIS) program, you’ll learn both the business and technological foundations of information systems management. DePaul’s undergraduate MIS degree program will prepare you to pursue a variety of careers requiring both business and technological skills.

As you earn your MIS degree, you will

• Acquire a broad understanding of information technologies and the information systems life cycle as they apply to business processes
• Gain the ability to identify organizational data
• design and manipulate databases
• Integrate technical knowledge with an understanding of business operations

By majoring in Arabic Studies, you will develop the ability to speak, understand, read and write the Arabic language. You will also expand your knowledge of the Middle East and be encouraged to foster an appreciation of Islamic literature and civilization.

The Arabic language is one of the United Nations’ six official languages, and the U.S. Government considers it one of the most critical languages for Americans to learn. Chicago has one of the nation’s largest Arab-American populations in the U.S., giving you opportunities to visit its communities and gain first-hand knowledge about the Arab culture and language.

The Master of Science in Game Programming is designed for those interested in game development programming at the highest level, including real time computing, computer graphics, and professional retooling for the game industry. Students will learn about software engineering, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, animation, software architecture, and networking. The game programming degree addresses the real-world needs of industry through special, topic-based classes. Courses are taught with a mixture of theory and applied practice. Covering both emerging trends and proven knowledge, the program's content is always relevant and current. This combination of approaches allows students to understand the connection between realized applied systems and issues they'll likely face professionally in years to come.

The Master of Music in composition program offers students one-on-one instruction with DePaul's distinguished faculty of active composers as well as many seminars with guest composers and performers from Chicago and across the country. Graduate composition majors have their compositions performed during DePaul Composers Forum, a quarterly student composition concert, and submit works to be read and possibly performed by Ensemble 20+, DePaul Wind Ensemble, University Singers or the DePaul Chamber Orchestra. DePaul also offers two assistantships to graduate composition students.

Our daily interactions with the Internet are ever-increasing in scale and complexity. What was once a packet delivery system mimicking a postal system is now an intricate multi-tiered structure of protocols and services. The ongoing development and survival of these services depends on our ability to adaptively address challenges such as securing our interactions, scaling with users and devices, and meeting the ever-changing expectations in Quality of Experience and Service Availability.

The unique MS Network Engineering and Security (NES) program at DePaul University delivers both the theory and practice behind the design and maintenance of these diverse network infrastructures. Students have access to extensive lab facilities using equipment from Cisco, Juniper, and other manufacturers. Our students get hands-on practice in configuring routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as securing networks, evaluating and managing their performance, and ensuring the they meet business requirements.

Through our Healthcare Markets and Analytics MBA concentration, you’ll become prepared to analyze and use health data to make managerial decisions.

Our MBA in healthcare management program teaches you to use decision-making algorithms that apply data to economic models. Your courses will focus on economics within the health care sector — an industry that accounts for more than one-fifth of the U.S. economy.

In this program, you’ll learn

• How the health care sector is similar to, and different from, the rest of the economy.
• How the behavior of the health care sector adheres to and deviates from key economic principles.
• The crucial and ever-increasing role of data in guiding the decision-making process of policymakers in the health care industry.

The MA in Animation degree provides a combination of artistic and technical training that prepares students for a future in 3D character animation, traditional animation, computer game art, or visual effects.

Technical Artist
The Technical Artist Concentration prepares students for a range of technical roles, from the complex jobs of riggers, next generation modelers and motion capture artists to the hybrid specialization of the Technical Artist. A game industry Technical Artist is an art department member who serves as a bridge between art and engineering. The TA needs to understand the language of both fields and act as a translator between the areas. In the film and television CGI animation and VFX industries the Technical Artist is more commonly referred to as a Technical Director or Technical Animator. The TA in these fields shares many of the core responsibilities (pipeline, troubleshooting) and animation technical skills as the game TA.

The industrial design degree program will teach you how to hone your aesthetic design skills in order to develop prototypes for consumer and industrial products. You’ll take technical and mathematics courses from which you will learn analytical competence needed to successfully develop your prototyping ability.

As an Industrial Design major, you will become a member of DePaul’s makerspace community and work alongside award-winning faculty in the Idea Realization Lab (IRL) or IRL2 — DePaul’s interdisciplinary 4,500-square-foot campus makerspaces (located on the Loop and Lincoln Park campuses, respectively). In this community, you will learn to design within the constraints of what is practical and possible through the use of several rapid prototyping technologies.
