The Art History Program requires courses in art appreciation, foundations drawing and design, an upper division studio art course, a course in aesthetics and art theory, a minimum of 28 credits in upper level art history, and a senior seminar in art history. Graduates in Art History have gone on from FAU to jobs at museums and galleries, and many have continued on to pursue graduate degrees. It is the belief of the faculty that a well-rounded preparation in Art History is also important to success in every branch of the visual arts, and to this end foreign study programs are offered in France, Italy, and Spain and departmental awards are available both to concentrators in the studio areas and to those in Art History.

The Master of Science with Major in Computer Engineering (MSCE) prepares students for careers in industry in various positions such as IoT Engineer, Computer Systems Engineer/Architect, Cryptographic Engineer, Network Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer, Application Engineer, Wireless Communications Engineer, Digital Design Engineer, and Robotics Engineer. Students in the program build a foundational background in computer architecture and design, software development and computer systems, and are exposed to the latest advances in various areas including embedded systems, structured VLSI design, design of digital systems, cryptography, computer networks, wireless communications, vehicular networks, IoT and smart systems, parallel and distributed systems, medical information systems, machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, and signal processing.

The Bachelor of Science with Major in Data Science and Analytics (BSDSA) is a multi-college, interdisciplinary program jointly administered by the Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the Department of Information Technology and Operations Management {ITOM) in the College of Business, the Department of Political Science in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice.

This program aims to prepare students with the essential skill sets across disciplines needed for data-driven applications in industry, business and government. The Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) offers a concentration in Data Science and Engineering (DSE).

What is Data Science and Engineering About?
Data science is effective in tackling many real-world problems and is being used to make intelligent and informed decisions in many industries such as medicine and healthcare, finance, retail, transportation, manufacturing, media and entertainment. Data science and engineering involves the design and application of tools and methodologies for uncovering patterns in data and making actionable predictions. This program builds a strong background in computational and mathematical foundation of data science, programming, and data structures and algorithm analysis. Students can choose from a rich selection of courses including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and deep learning. They will be prepared not only to use the tools for data science but also to develop new mechanisms and algorithms. Graduates of the program will be well prepared to enter the high demand workforce under exciting roles such as Data Scientist, Data Science Application Developer, Data Science Programmer, Data Analytics Scientist, Machine Learning Scientist, Market Analyst and others.

The International Business major arms students with the tools to tackle challenges in business while empowering them to contribute and engage in organizations and communities in a global business environment. Program goals are accomplished through an active partnership with the business community while the program continuously enhances the quality and impact of international business education.

The primary purpose of the Department of Political Science's Global Governance concentration is to enable students to study and increase their understanding of the causes and consequences of globalization as well as the political, economic and ecological dimensions of globalization. The program is organized around various themes of "global significance," such as global governance and human rights, including issues of peace and conflict among peoples and states; global terrorism; and the interrelationships of global justice, rights and responsibilities with new models of international organization, administration and development.

Civil engineers design the constructed environment and the infrastructure that supports our society. From highways and buildings to bridges, water resource systems and the environment, the profession of civil engineering is responsible for much of the world in which we live. The variety of challenges facing modern society means that civil engineers can look forward to a highly rewarding, dynamic career.

In Multimedia Studies, the BA degree sequence in FILM, VIDEO, AND NEW MEDIA attracts diverse and creative students who crave an opportunity to engage with the rapidly evolving media world. From its origins as an interdepartmental program in film studies, the program in the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies is currently home to roughly ___ majors. FVNM coursework immerses students in a dynamic curriculum rooted in a liberal arts education, which emphasizes the links between media history, analysis and creative practice. Our majors study the relationships between different forms of cinema and digital media through a well-rounded sequence that spans film studies, media studies, digital film production, and computer animation. FVNM graduates are critically sophisticated, historically knowledgeable, and technologically proficient.

The research interests of accomplished scholars and creators on our faculty shape our upper-level curriculum’s coverage of commercial, independent, and experimental media, through courses in documentary, activist media, world cinema, queer media, digital cultures, interactive and web-based media, animation, and video games. Our students are encouraged to craft individual paths through rigorous scholarly work and hands-on practical training, preparing them to thrive in media-related sectors, including arts and entertainment, education, and technology.

The Health Administration major provides students with a university education that promotes personal and professional growth as well as concentrated awareness of health systems and their effects on society. Flexibility in course selection empowers and encourages students to study in a program that will not only sharpen their analytical skills and expose them to a new way of thinking, but will also develop their leadership skills and reinforce social responsibility as citizens and future health administrators.

The degree in Health Administration - Bachelor of Health Services (BHS) - offered through the Department of Management at FAU, College of Business, is an Associate Member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration ( AUPHA.org). Welcome to le site for French Studies in the Department of Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative Literature at FAU. Our program’s mission is to promote the study of French language, literature, linguistics, and culture through interdisciplinary pedagogical approaches. Our courses therefore stress the importance of French as a vibrant language with a strong global presence, as they examine the rich variety and ongoing international influence of French and Francophone traditions and civilizations from the Middle Ages to the present, from Europe to the Caribbean (and beyond).

We offer B.A. degree programs in French, Italian, Linguistics, and Spanish as well as courses in Arabic, German, Mandarin Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese and Latin, many of which count toward academic minors and certificates. We provide our students with a broad liberal arts background through coursework in language, culture and literature in an interdisciplinary context. Our programs appeal to a wide variety of students, including humanities-oriented students, future educators, and those who wish to broaden their global horizons in the humanities while pursuing careers in business, law, health care, engineering, international relations and science.
