There is no single path that carries history undergraduates directly to one chosen career, but many ways in which skills learned in the study of the past can be translated into the enterprises of the present. History always involves asking how we can make sense of complex situations... That kind of awareness of the complexity of events is exactly what decision-making in business, government, law, journalism, and other fields often requires.

In the liberal arts tradition, the FAU Bachelor of Arts in Theatre curriculum is intended for students seeking a broad exposure to the study of theatre and drama. It provides students with a broad range of valuable skills.

Through voice, movement and dance classes, students learn to control their voice’s pitch, projection, breathing, and articulation. Their dance and movement classes teach them to become poised, self-assured, natural, and expressive onstage.

Classes such as Dramatic Theory & Genre and Script Analysis encourage students to listen and learn, observe and concentrate with a heightened sense of awareness. The theatre environment can be quite competitive and they’ll learn to solve problems using critical thought processes in creative ways. The B.A. in Theatre is a program well-suited for those who may eventually want to pursue graduate studies in Theatre.

The Bachelor of Music: Performance concentration is designed to prepare music majors for professional performance careers, private studio teaching and/or the pursuit of further academic study.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Either of these two programs, with suitably chosen electives, constitute an excellent background for a wide range of careers, in particular as a systems analyst, mathematics teacher, actuary and statistician.

Secondary Teacher Education degree programs are offered in partnership with the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. These programs are Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) approved. This state and CAEP approval represents the transferability of teaching credentials from state-to-state. Secondary programs currently approved include the following subject area and grade levels:

The Hospitality & Tourism Management program prepares students for management positions in multiple segments of the world’s largest service industry. Upon completion, graduates assume various professional roles in a wide variety of industry venues including: resorts, hotels, restaurants, private clubs, meeting and event planning corporations, destination marketing organizations, convention centers, conference centers, cruise lines, casinos, theme parks, auto rental agencies, sports facilities and arenas, spas, entertainment venues and theaters, and vacation ownership or fractional ownership operations.

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science are proud to offer Florida’s first MS program in Artificial Intelligence!  Be at the forefront of the fourth industrial revolution, as AI is transforming every industry.  Our innovative program and training curriculum cover AI theory, methods, and technologies. We are educating students and training professionals to develop new skills for jobs that are not yet defined, so they can join the first generation of an AI-and-autonomy workforce.

The Master of Science with Major in Artificial Intelligence program offers both thesis and non-thesis options. Both options require a minimum of 30 credits, as specified in Degree Requirements.

Environmental engineers integrate principles of engineering, mathematics, earth science, soil science, life science, and materials science with an emphasis on the design and development of solutions to environmental challenges, such as improvement of water, air pollution control, safe disposal of wastes, and the stewardship of our natural resources.

Designed to develop and prepare the business leaders of tomorrow to tackle the challenges of the global business environment, the major in Management has two tracks: Leadership and Applied Management, and Entrepreneurship.

Students in the Leadership track have opportunities to advance in human resources and management with various levels of responsibility building successful teams while managing an increasingly complex business environment. Successful leaders develop the strategies, plans, procedures, and policies that guide a business team in the short and long term. Successful leaders do so by coordinating human, financial, and material assets to achieve organizational objectives.

Students in the Entrepreneurship track receive mentoring and develop the skills they need to start their own business or work in a business startup. Entrepreneurs are at the heart of job growth. Students with the intentions of one day leading their own business will benefit from this quality program. In addition, students have numerous resources available on campus such as the Adams Center For Entrepreneurship and the Research Park at FAU to assist them with a start-up. Both tracks are designed to permit a dual major or minor in a targeted area of interest.
