B.S. in Finance provides students with a broad-based understanding of the principles that govern financial institutions and markets, and the strategies they employ to maximize investor returns while minimizing risk. The only program of its kind in New York City, LIU Pharmacy’s M.S. in Pharmaceutics with Specialization in Cosmetic Science prepares students for careers in the consumer products industry, researching, developing, and testing new cosmetics, perfumes, toiletries, household products, and more.

Graduates of the program are highly sought after by the global cosmetics industry to support research, development and manufacturing operations in the areas of chemistry, cosmetic/dermatological formulations technology, product evaluations and safety.

Many of today’s most pressing social problems relate directly to problems in behavior. Violence (at home or on the street), drug addiction and poor interpersonal relationships are just some examples of the types of issues explored in the field of psychology. Psychologists strive first to describe, understand and explain behavioral problems and also to contribute solutions to such problems, through careful collection of data, analysis of data, and development of intervention strategies.

The B.A. in Psychology provides students with a broad understanding of the principles that explain human behavior and interaction. In addition to learning the latest science and theory regarding human and nonhuman animal behavior, students in the program gain the vital skills and experience employers seek. These skills include research and writing skills, problem solving skills, and, well-developed, higher-level thinking ability as evidenced in analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating information.

B.S. in Marketing prepares students for professional careers in a wide variety of marketing functions within business and not-for-profit organizations. Marketing involves the study of new product development, marketing research, analysis of distribution systems, determination of pricing policies, promotion of products and ideas, business relationships, and predictions of consumer behavior.

As a marketing major, you will develop the creative, analytical and communication skills necessary to succeed in the field. You also will develop competencies in product and service promotion, distribution, buyer behavior and market research. Marketing courses focus on integrating theory and practical applications through the use of cases, computer simulations, and through hands-on field projects.

Recent graduates are pursuing marketing careers at companies such as Sony Music, Grey Advertising and Saatchi & Saatchi.

Master of Public Administration prepares students for public service responsibilities, blending management theory with practical applications in government, health and non-profit organizations. Students from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of professional expertise, are taught by faculty members who are current in all aspects of this continuously evolving and growing field.

The program of study is flexible and can be tailored to accommodate the professional requirements of the student by offering specialization courses that provide them with the opportunity to examine a specific management function or an area of application in greater depth.

Our MSW program provides a step-wise progression to support student understanding of generalist and specialized social work practice. The generalist practice curriculum includes content in the foundation areas of social work: policy, practice, human behavior, research, diversity, professional values, and promotion of social justice, and applied through a field education experience.

The 36 to 63-credit Master’s of Business Administration (number of credits is based on your undergraduate coursework) provides the knowledge base and skills that enable professionals to become leaders in business by offering a comprehensive program which meets the needs of an ever-changing, global business environment. The program is offered on a part-time basis during the evenings and weekends with 15- and 7-week semesters, to accommodate the schedules of busy working professionals who are interested in advancing their careers. When you enroll in the program, you will join students representing every continent and possessing a variety of professional backgrounds, including those who work in corporate entities, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

You will gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of business through the required courses. The program is registered by the New York State Department of Education. Graduates of the program receive a Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology that satisfies the academic and professional requirements specified by ASHA for the CCC-SLP, and are eligible to apply for licensure in SLP by the New York State Department of Education's Office of the Professions. Students who wish to satisfy the New York State Education Office of Teaching requirements for Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) may also prepare for this certification as part of their graduate program. Students demonstrating proficiency (i.e., speaking, listening, reading, and writing) in a language other than English may further prepare for a certificate in Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities with a Bilingual Extension. The Master's of Science in Exercise Science offers a comprehensive educational experience including lectures and laboratories on theory and application of advanced exercise physiology concepts. Specific tracks of study serve to advantageously position graduates and career professionals in an ever-changing health care environment. The program is designed to enhance students' marketability, through combining exercise physiology with three well-established and popular areas of study: sports nutrition, athletic performance and fitness for people with disabilities.

Although there are three distinct areas of study, the program also offers academic flexibility with several elective courses. In addition, an active research laboratory allows students the opportunity to pursue their own data collection or get involved as a volunteer or graduate assistant.

The M.S. curriculum has an overall credit requirement of 36 credits. Our intention is to provide students with an education that is inspiring, satisfying and valuable to ensure our students are competitive across the current academic and career landscapes.

Students may choose from one of the following tracks:

Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition – Prepares students for advanced study in exercise physiology and for careers in corporate fitness, hospitals, rehabilitation, athletics, research and wellness programs. The track emphasizes the role of exercise in health and disease prevention, fitness testing and programming, physical activity intervention as well as hands-on, laboratory-based, clinically-based and research-based internship experiences.

Strength, Conditioning, and Sports Nutrition – Designed for individuals seeking to improve their knowledge and skills in the area of strength and conditioning of athletes. The program focuses on the science and practical application of current knowledge in the field. Students have the opportunity to earn national certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Fitness for People with Disabilities – Offers students a unique opportunity to combine advance courses in exercise science, exercise prescription, and applied behavior analysis to design fitness and sports programs for individuals with cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities. Students develop specialized competencies in exercise testing, program design, and evaluation. This innovate approach leads to a variety of career options in the health-fitness, education and clinical fields.

TV Writers Studio (TVWS) is a one-of-a-kind writing practicum. Pure and simple, the goal of the TVWS is to educate and to develop highly skilled, experienced professionals with strong portfolios who will be prepared to begin careers in the television industry as writer/producer/entrepreneurs.

Each year, the TVWS has two cohorts running side-by-side: one in its first year, the other in its second and final year. The students invited to participate in the TVWS become part of an intensive, two year curriculum of study during which they function collaboratively like the staff of an ongoing television series; and independently, as writer/creators of their own TV series pilot and web series.
